Coroner arrives at hospital where Mayes was taken

MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - Action News 5 confirmed Adam Mayes has been captured.

Alexandria Bain, 12, and her sister, Kyliyah, 8, are safe and are with authorities right now.

According to Union County Sheriff Dept., Mayes was found with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Action News 5's Michael Clark is at Baptist Hospital in Alpine, MS, where Mayes was taken after his capture.  Clark says the coroner has arrived at the hospital.

Mississippi Wildlife Resource Officers found Mayes and the girls near a church on Highway 183 in Alpine, Mississippi.  As officers approached him, he turned the gun on himself.

The girls are being taken to a hospital to be checked out.

Officers say they checked the area around the church previously and believe Mayes had been on the run the whole time.

Mayes was added to the FBI's Most Wanted list Wednesday for the murder of Jo Ann Bain, and her 14-year-old daughter, Adrienne.

Bain and her three daughters went missing nearly two weeks ago from their Hardeman County home.  On Saturday, May 5, an AMBER Alert was issued for the three girls.

A neighbor near the scene of the incident told Daily Journal reporter JB Clark he was sitting with his wife and heard people yelling in the woods and thought they were forestry folks. It was behind the church. He heard shouts and commotion in the woods and he heard a gunshot. That’s when several law enforcement officials swept in.

I'm so sick of these sick cowards ruining numerous peoples lives, then offing themselves.  Why can't they just off themselves and spare these innocent people. I'll never understand it.
