So glad to hear the girls have been released and were not seriously hurt.

The more that comes out the madder I get. Why was this man even allowed near the girls. Much less having overnight visitations at his home with a mentally ill wife and mother from hell. I know that Adam, Teresa and Mary are ultimately responsible for what happened here, but geesh, how many cases have we followed that the parents make such bad choices that they ultimately hand their children over to the wolves? I am not sure that the girls should be put back into the care of Gary Bain. My heart breaks for these precious girls and what they have been through. How do they recover from something this horrific?
Even though the investigations into the allegations of him being naked in the bathroom turned up nothing substantial he would have been missing those appendages that men take so much pride in and most likely his head if this had been my child and he sure as hell would not be around my children again. We all have read how well the CPS does their jobs. Just sickening to me. Wake up parents and take care of the precious gifts God has given you!

I gotta say, he was cleared, but this couple's status was absolutely unstable, I am at a loss as to why Gary and Jo Ann would allow them around the kids in the first place.

I really want to know the timeline of this case, so we can pull out the "what not to do" things for families in any similar situation, Mayes and his Mom and wife are to blame, absolutely, but what could have prevented this?

The problem here is that we don't know the family dynamics, we don't know what type of woman or parent Jo Ann was, we don't know the true paternity of these girls.

IF it is true, that Mayes fathered one or both of the younger daughters, it would explain why Jo Ann allowed the daughters to visit occassional weekends with Mayes.

Short of the above circumstance, I see no justification for those girls going with Mayes at all and regardless weither the mother was re-married or not, worked or went to school full time- or not, her responsibility to protect her children should have been her first priority.

The burden of this responsibility falls on the mother.

You can always replace a spouse~ you cannot replace your children.

Women need to wake up, take more pride in motherhood and their children.

Unfortunately, a lot women are more concerned with their "downstairs" than what's best for their children.  I'm not saying this is what happened here, just passing on a general observation.

When I first read this, I took it as only Kyliyah was naked.  Then I read your comment.   I feel it was only Kyliyah that was naked, or I don't think things would have been dropped.  jmo  We also know that CPS drops the ball all the time where our innocent children are concerned....or just look the other way as it causes too much work for them.   I sure would like to read that report for myself.  In either case, those children should never have been allowed around AM for any reason.  again, just my opinion

He seemed weird to me too Gary. Course  most of them acted a little off their rockers. When I first saw the pic of Adam Mayes I thought he looked like a cadaver. Just something really off with him.

Actually, the only time I have seen him was when they tried to interview him through his front door and he basically was distraught and couldn't handle it.  Based on the circumstances, I couldn't make a judgement call on him.

A family spokesman says two girls have been reunited with relatives after being rescued from a man wanted by the FBI for killing their mother and sister

David Livingston, a family friend, said Friday morning that sisters 12-year-old Alexandria Bain and 8-year-old Kyliyah Bain are at home in Tennessee and are "doing well."

Authorities tracked 35-year-old Adam Mayes to a wooded area in north Mississippi on Thursday evening, where they said he shot himself in the head. He was wanted for the killing of Jo Ann Bain and 14-year-old Adrienne Bain.

Livingston said the girls' father, Gary Bain, is ecstatic about their return, but is also distraught over the death of his wife and older daughter.

(CNN) -- The two young girls were on their stomachs. From where they lay, they could see Adam Mayes, the man who took them from their home in Tennessee two weeks earlier and who now had them hiding in the Mississippi woods.

State officers approached.

Mayes was charged with the killings of the girls' mother and older sister. The end of a days-long manhunt seemed within reach. The motive for the kidnappings might be explained.

But as the officers drew nearer, Mayes pulled out a gun and shot himself in the head. The girls watched.

New details revealed Friday by the FBI recounted the rescue of Alexandria Bain, 12, and Kyliyah Bain, 8.

When investigators came upon Mayes, "the girls were on their stomach face-down. They were close enough to see what was going on when he killed himself," FBI spokesman Jason Pack said.

Afterward, the girls were tended to by two female agents, who rode with them in an ambulance to a hospital.
