they both need to get out and get jobs.

George has people that want to kill him, that is why he is in hiding. so he'c can't exactly go out and get a job.

So, is he going to hide the rest of his life?
What about his wife working. Most people don't even know what he looks like. What will they do once the funds dry up? Perhaps they should be a bit motor frugal with their monthly spending...jmo...

Sanford City Hall tally: Trayvon Martin case has cost $603,000
March 10, 2013

 ::snipping2::
In pure dollars and cents, City Hall reports that it has spent $603,000 on Trayvon Martin-related expenses.

The bulk — $398,000 — was paid to city employees for regular and overtime work, according to the city's finance department. Nearly half of that went to police officers.

But the city also spent huge sums on unexpected things — for example, legal advice and guidance on what to do with hundreds of public-records requests; a stage, video and audio equipment and portable toilets for protesters; and consulting fees to two headhunter companies scouting for a new police chief.

The money, totaled through Feb. 19, has come from city reserves and has meant no cutbacks in city services, said City Manager Norton Bonaparte Jr.

Expense highlights
According to Sanford city records:

•Total police payroll expenses: $187,000

The biggest piece: $131,000 in overtime.

•Stenstrom, McIntosh, Colbert, Whigham & Partlow P.A. (the city's law firm): $63,000

•The search for a new police chief: $33,800

•Stage, audio, video equipment for Trayvon rallies: $29,000

•Crisis public relations, PR and marketing: $26,000

•Interim police Chief Richard Myers: $13,000

•Temporary office staffers: $11,000

•Advertising: $10,300 (Legal and other ads placed in the Orlando Sentinel, Sanford Herald, Orlando Weekly)

•Copyright fee for a new city logo: $35

George Zimmerman: New photos of Trayvon Martin's cell phone.
Last Updated: Thursday, March 14, 2013, 12:12 PM

SANFORD --
George Zimmerman's defense team has released new documents and evidence, including photos of Trayvon Martin's cell phone.

The evidence was part of the state's 12th supplemental discovery release to the defense.

Zimmerman's lawyers said the discovery also included a data file from Trayvon's phone, but added: "We believe [it] is not part of the public record, and therefore will not be provided here."

Zimmerman renews request to depose Trayvon Martin family attorney
12:50 p.m. EDT, March 18, 2013

George Zimmerman's defense team on Monday asked Circuit Judge Debra Nelson to reconsider their request to question Benjamin Crump, an attorney for Trayvon Martin's family, in an under-oath deposition.

At a hearing last month, Nelson rejected the Zimmerman attorneys' previous request for a deposition of Crump, who in March conducted an interview with "Witness 8," the key state witness who says she was on the phone with the 17-year-old in the moments before his fatal encounter with Zimmerman.

The new motion is based on a recent revelation that the witness falsely claimed she was hospitalized after the shooting. The defense now argues that her credibility is in question, so learning what Crump knows is all the more important.

"Now that Witness 8's credibility is at issue because of this contradictory and possibly perjurious testimony, deposing Mr. Crump is even more necessary and relevant for further determination of additional misrepresentation of lies, to document further bases for impeachment of Witness 8, and other necessary matters," the motion says.

When the deposition issue arose, Crump filed an affidavit which he said explained everything he knew about the interview with Witness 8. But the defense's new motion calls his affidavit "not only incomplete, but... also inaccurate."

The motion cites recently released ABC News audio from the interview, which Zimmerman attorney Mark O'Mara says shows that important portions of the conversation were not captured by Crump's recorder.

Attorneys for George Zimmerman question Trayvon Martin's girlfriend
5:06 p.m. EDT, March 20, 2013

George Zimmerman's attorneys were in South Florida late last week, deposing Trayvon Martin's girlfriend, dad, mom and brother, according to newly-filed case records.

On Wednesday Mark O'Mara took the sworn account of Trayvon's girlfriend, the state's most important witness, at a Miami office of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
 ::snipping2::
Zimmerman's attorneys did not finish questioning the 19-year-old woman, his office said, and will schedule another session.

She was one of seven witnesses that defense attorneys deposed in South Florida late last week.

That includes Trayvon's father on Thursday and his mother and half-brother on Friday.

It's not clear what they disclosed.

FDLE gives Zimmerman its homework on Trayvon's girlfriend, parents
11:12 a.m. EDT, March 21, 2013

SANFORD – The judge in the George Zimmerman case this week signed orders, requiring the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to release to defense attorneys biographical profiles agents did on key witnesses in the case, including his girlfriend, his mother and father.

It's a written version of an order she made from the bench earlier this month.

The information includes criminal background checks and other pieces of information likely to be useful to attorneys wanting to challenge the character of a witness.

O'Mara: Fine prosecutors for hiding witness lies
6:32 p.m. EDT, March 25, 2013

George Zimmerman's attorneys on Monday formally accused prosecutors of being unethical, saying that for seven months, they hid a pair of lies by their most important witness, and that they should be punished for it.

The allegations, spelled out in a new court pleading, mark a new low in the case.

Defense attorneys Mark O'Mara and Don West have complained for months about Assistant State Attorneys Bernie de la Rionda and John Guy, saying they have refused repeated requests to turn over key pieces of evidence. This time, they've asked Circuit Judge Debra S. Nelson to fine and admonish them.

Prosecutors are required to release in a timely fashion information to a suspect if it might help prove his innocence. In this case, according to paperwork filed by O'Mara, de la Rionda and Guy have flouted that rule.

For seven months, they knew that the state's most important witness, a young Miami woman who was on the phone with Trayvon Martin just moments before he was shot, had lied about going to a hospital a few days later, according to the new paperwork.
 ::snipping2::
They also hid for six months that she had lied when she claimed to be 16, something she told Benjamin Crump, an attorney for Trayvon's family, in a recorded interview March 19, 2012.

She was 18 at the time and is 19 now.
 ::snipping2::
In the new paperwork, defense attorneys also complained that de la Rionda and Guy mislead the judge and them at an Oct. 26 hearing when they claimed they had turned over all reports generated by the FBI and Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Two weeks later, they surrendered 45 more, according to the pleading.
 ::snipping2::
The paperwork also reveals that the young Miami woman was sitting next to Trayvon Martin's mother when she was interviewed by Crump March 19 and by de la Rionda April 2.

That's the reason she lied about going to the hospital and missing Trayvon's wake and funeral, according to the pleading.

The fact that Trayvon's mother was sitting next to her, possibly influencing her during that sworn statement April 2 with de la Rionda "places the legitimacy and veracity of the entire statement at issue," O'Mara wrote.

Sanford’s new police chief, Cecil E. Smith, will celebrate his official arrival to Sanford next Monday, April 1, when he is sworn in at city hall.

Smith comes to Sanford from Elgin, Ill. where he served as the deputy chief. Although he will not be sworn in until April 1, he has already arrived in Sanford to sit in on key meetings before taking his place at the Sanford Police Department.

George Zimmerman's lawyers file witness list with 130 names
11:47 a.m. EDT, March 26, 2013

SANFORD - Attorneys for George Zimmerman have filed a new defense witness list, and it includes more than 130 people. Among them: Trayvon Martin's mother and father, their attorney Benjamin Crump, former Sanford police Chief Bill Lee Jr. and former State Attorney Norm Wolfinger.

It also includes Sanford City Manager Norton Bonaparte and several other members of Trayvon's family, including his step-brother and the Oviedo cousin with whom he'd spent the night the evening before he was fatally shot.

Attorneys seldom call all the witnesses they list, still the list placed in the official court file Monday is extraordinary for its length.

It includes many people who clearly have no direct connection to the shooting or what happened Feb. 26, the night Zimmerman killed Trayvon, 17.

Bonaparte, Sanford's city manager, is one example. So is Sondra Osterman, a close friend of Zimmerman who opened her home to the defendant and his wife and hid them for weeks before he was arrested.

It also includes Khaled Akkawi, owner of Shoot Straight, a chain of gun ranges where Zimmerman bought the handgun he used that night, and a private investigator hired by Crump to do detective work for Trayvon's family.

Many of the witnesses are those whom the state also will likely call, for example Sanford police officers who were involved in the initial investigation and investigators who work for Special Prosecutor Angela Corey, who took over the case in March.

It also includes Zimmerman's parents. His father has already testified in court that the screams heard on one 911 recording were from his son – not Trayvon.

Trayvon's mother has told authorities that those cries for help were from her son.

The names of more than 50 of the witnesses are not included, part of a judge's order that witness names be protected from public disclosure.
 ::snipping2::
Also today, attorneys for both sides agreed to cancel a routine April 2 hearing in the case. It was not immediately clear why. That means the next hearing is set for April 20.

There's also a new development in a related court case. Zimmerman and NBC Universal Media, LLC have agreed to put on hold for now the civil suit Zimmerman filed against the media giant.

Benjamin Crump: Judge, don't make me answer questions from George Zimmerman's lawyers
10:22 a.m. EDT, March 27, 2013

Benjamin Crump, the attorney for Trayvon Martin's family, has filed new paperwork, saying there's no valid reason for a judge to reverse herself and order him to answer defense attorneys' questions in the George Zimmerman murder case.

On Feb, 22, Circuit Judge Debra S. Nelson rejected defense attorneys' initial request, agreeing with Crump that he was not at the scene of the shooting and could provide no material details.

But last week, defense attorney Mark O'Mara filed new paperwork, asking her to reconsider.

Defense attorneys want to learn more about Crump's dealings with the state's most important witness, a young Miami woman who was on the phone with Trayvon moments before Zimmerman shot the Miami Gardens 17-year-old to death Feb. 26, 2012, in Sanford.

Crump discovered her and recorded an interview with her before police even knew that she existed or that Trayvon had been on the phone with anyone.

George Zimmerman cannot question Trayvon Martin family attorney, judge says
Ben Crump will not be deposed by defense
Published On: Mar 28 2013 11:34:31 AM EDT

SANFORD, Fla. -
George Zimmerman's attorneys have again been denied the right to question under oath the attorney for Trayvon Martin's family.

In what was in essence a one-word order, Judge Debra Nelson Thursday denied  Zimmerman's second attempt to force Benjamin Crump to testify in a deposition about his dealing with Witness 8, the young woman on the phone with Martin in the moments before Zimmerman killed him.

Using audiotape released on the Internet by ABC News after Zimmerman subpoenaed it, the defense argued Crump did not disclose all of his substantive conversations with Witness 8 in a affidavit Crump filed with the court. ABC News was present and recorded portions of a telephone conference call Crump held with Witness 8 and others.

Zimmerman prosecutor: O'Mara is a grandstander guilty of 'craven conduct'
6:11 p.m. EDT, March 28, 2013

In a sarcastic, insult-laden pleading, the lead prosecutor in the George Zimmerman case on Thursday called defense attorney Mark O'Mara a "craven" duplicitous grandstander who "courts anything resembling a microphone or camera."

He also suggested that O'Mara was either unethical or does not know the meaning of one of the most common words in a defense attorney's vocabulary: exculpatory, an adjective used to describe a piece of evidence that tends to prove a suspect's innocence.

Bernie de la Rionda's pleading came three days after O'Mara asked Circuit Judge Debra S. Nelson to fine de la Rionda an unspecified amount, accusing him of hiding a key piece of information for seven months: the fact that his most important witness had lied under oath in April.

In his response today, de la Rionda admitted that he'd failed to disclose that until three weeks ago but said O'Mara hasn't shown any actual damage and thus, his office should be off the hook.

"No misconduct has occurred, nor should sanctions be rewarded to compensate counsel," de la Rionda wrote.

George Zimmerman's brother says Twitter rant a "mistake"

 ::snipping2::
Robert Zimmerman this week posted side-by-side photos of Martin and one of two teenagers arrested last week in a fatal shooting of a 13-month-old boy as his mother was pushing his stroller down the street in a coastal Georgia town.

The separate photos showed Martin and the teenager posing while making an obscene gesture.

Robert Zimmerman wrote in a tweet, "a picture is worth a thousand words ... any questions?" In another tweet, he said, "Lib media shld ask if what these2 black teens did 2 a woman&baby is the reason ppl think blacks mightB risky."

Morgan, in his interview with Zimmerman, called the tweets "incendiary" and "bordering on outright racism."

 ::snipping2::
Important to note, de la Rionda wrote, is that the witness' misstatement has nothing to do with whether Zimmerman committed murder when he shot Trayvon Martin, the unarmed black 17-year-old, in Sanford last year.

Zimmerman is awaiting trial on a second-degree murder charge. He says he acted in self-defense.

O'Mara's request for sanctions is just grandstanding, de la Rionda wrote, the act of a lawyer guilty of "craven conduct." O'Mara "courts anything resembling a microphone or camera," he wrote, and should understand the awkwardness of other people making misstatements.

De la Rionda also pointed out that O'Mara has made misstatements, including when he told a judge that Zimmerman and his wife were indigent.
 ::snipping2::

Websters defines craven as an adjective meaning lily livered or comtemptibly fainthearted.
