Thanks Muffy!  Since we were getting to the end of that thread I figured with the pending trial and all that we'd probably want to continue following this case.

MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - The street to the Bain family home is being guarded by sheriff's deputies in an effort to offer Alexandria and Kyliyah Bain support and protection as they recover from a situation that led to death of their mother, sister, and accused kidnapper.

The two girls were missing for two weeks after Adam Mayes allegedly kidnapped them, their mother, Jo Ann, and sister, Adrienne, on April 27.

The situation ended Thursday night when Adam Mayes shot himself in the head as Mississippi wildlife resource officers approached him in the woods near Alpine, Mississippi.

The girls were taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital to be treated for dehydration, exposure, and poison ivy.  They were released early Friday morning and are now recovering at home.

The Bain family spokesperson tells Action News 5 the girls are doing well and they got a good night's sleep.

The spokesperson described this two-week long situation as "a tragedy, a total nightmare tragedy."

You're welcome, Klaas.  We'll definitely want to see the folks that had a hand in this tragedy on trial.

Police reports associated with Adam Mayes
The report about Adam Mayes and Kyliyah was made by a sister of Adam Mayes.

On  April 20, 2010, Inv. King spoke with Adam C. Mayes, who denied the allegation and stated that the allegations were of the imagination of his sister, because he kicked her out of the house a couple of months ago and she was very upset with him and his wife.

This one is interesting too...wonder what it was all about.

More arrests of people linked to bizarre abduction, murder case
By Tim Ghianni and Emily Le Coz
NASHVILLE, Tenn./GUNTOWN, Mississippi
May 11, 2012

(Reuters) - Four neighbors of a man who authorities say abducted a Tennessee family and killed the mother and one daughter were arrested in connection with the case, authorities said on Friday, one day after the man committed suicide as police closed in.

Police did not say how the four additional people arrested - including a husband and wife and the adult son of the husband - were linked to the Mayes case. The couple were arrested for possessing a weapon and the son had been wanted previously by Mississippi authorities.

Brother of Accused Killer, Kidnapper Says He's Glad He's Dead

Johnny Mayes lives in Cherokee County and spoke exclusively to us about his brother, Adam Mayes.

UNION COUNTY, MS --

Johnny Mayes II says his sister called him Thursday night with the news he'd been waiting for: his brother was dead.

"Relief," said Mayes, 43, when asked how he felt upon hearing the news. "My first question was are the girls okay?"

He says the answer to that question made him feel even better. Authorities in Mississippi say the kidnapping victims, sisters Alexandria and Kyliyah Bain, 12 and 8, are physically okay after spending three days in the woods with their kidnapper, Adam Mayes.

"I just feel terrible that those girls lost their mother and sister because of (Adam)," says Johnny Mayes. "My condolensces go out to the Bain family. But I don't feel any remorse whatsoever for my brother."

Johnny lives in the Cowpens area of Cherokee County. He is eight years older than Adam, two of four siblings born to Mary Frances and Johnny Mayes. Johnny says the family moved around a lot, living in Texas, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina. He says about 16 years ago, they came to Cherokee County to live with his mother's brother.

"That's when I parted ways with the family," says Johnny.

He says Adam's controlling, abusive behavior drove a wedge between him and his parents.

"They would do whatever he wanted," says Johnny. "Anyone who was close to Adam pretty much lived in fear. He was the person that you didn't want to cross. You didn't cross him because you knew the consequences would come down on you."

He says Adam and his parents moved to Tennessee 16 years ago and Johnny remained in Cherokee County. He says he has had little contact with them since then -- until his sister called him about two weeks ago to tell him Adam was a person of interest in the kidnapping of the girls and the murders of their mother and sister.

"I wasn't surprised," says Johnny. "I figured something was going to happen with him one day."

He says relatives have told him Adam kidnapped the girls because he was convinced they were biologically his. He says he is not saddened that his brother took his own life.

"It's actually better that way," says Johnny. "It will save taxpayers the expense of housing him and will spare the court system from a bunch of trials."

He says he and his siblings have decided they will not claim Adam's body and will not hold a funeral.

Johnny says there is one positive thing to come out of the madness: after 16 years of not seeing his father, he went to Mississippi Thursday to get him and bring him back to Cherokee County.

"Last night, he was sleeping in one recliner and I was in the other one, and I said, 'I love you dad', and he looked over at me and said, 'I love you, son'," said Johnny, tears welling in his eyes. "So I'm going to enjoy the rest of his life."

I had several phone calls during Nancy Grace, so I'm listening to the show again now.

Very good show tonight imo.  Jean Casarez was in for Nancy Grace.

There were several interviews, another with Teresa Mayes mother as well as others.

(Summary)

Rick and Brenda Foster were both interviewed by phone.

They are close friends of the Bain family.

Rick talked about his many calls to Gary Bain last night after he'd read on Facebook that the girls had been found and that Adam Mayes was dead.  He said that Gary seemed like he had taken a breathe of relief but that he thought maybe he was also a little apprehensive too...almost like he wouldn't believe it until he actually saw them.  He said Gary Bain was taken to where the girls were by escort and waited hours to see them while they were examined.

When Rick was asked to tell about the Bain family, Rick said it was a great family...very close...very loving...the kids were always happy.  They interacted with them for many activities including birthday parties, baseball/softball games and practices, their kids went to school together; they went to dinner together, went to the midnight showing of Twilight a year and a half or so ago...just a very close knit loving family...a family that didn't deserve this.

When asked if this was a family that helped Adam Mayes, Rick Foster said Adam Mayes would come and work on cars, and do other things like mow the lawn or other odds and end things that Gary needed help with.  Rick said Adam befriended the family and was very trusted.  The kids adored him, called him uncle.  Gary took him in almost as a son.

Brenda Foster was a friend of Jo Ann since they were in Kindergarten.

She'd talked to Jo Ann on Wednesday night before this all happened.  Normal conversation, talking about school work.  They were attending the same college, Jo Ann was working towards her degree and becoming an Elementary teacher.

Jo Ann never said a bad word about Adam.  They looked at him kind of like a son.

Brenda says that Jo Ann and Adam were never close in an intimate way.

When asked what it's been like losing her best friend, Brenda said through tears that it has been very hard...very difficult.
