Quote
Johnny says there is one positive thing to come out of the madness: after 16 years of not seeing his father, he went to Mississippi Thursday to get him and bring him back to Cherokee County.

"Last night, he was sleeping in one recliner and I was in the other one, and I said, 'I love you dad', and he looked over at me and said, 'I love you, son'," said Johnny, tears welling in his eyes. "So I'm going to enjoy the rest of his life."

At the end of the video the interviewer added that Johnny said his only wish now was that two little Tennessee girls could tell their mother the same.

This brings tears to my eyes.

It did mine too, Green Eyes.   Crying or Very sad

So sad.

I had several phone calls during Nancy Grace, so I'm listening to the show again now.

Very good show tonight imo.  Jean Casarez was in for Nancy Grace.

There were several interviews, another with Teresa Mayes mother as well as others.

(Summary)

Rick and Brenda Foster were both interviewed by phone.

They are close friends of the Bain family.

Rick talked about his many calls to Gary Bain last night after he'd read on Facebook that the girls had been found and that Adam Mayes was dead.  He said that Gary seemed like he had taken a breathe of relief but that he thought maybe he was also a little apprehensive too...almost like he wouldn't believe it until he actually saw them.  He said Gary Bain was taken to where the girls were by escort and waited hours to see them while they were examined.

When Rick was asked to tell about the Bain family, Rick said it was a great family...very close...very loving...the kids were always happy.  They interacted with them for many activities including birthday parties, baseball/softball games and practices, their kids went to school together; they went to dinner together, went to the midnight showing of Twilight a year and a half or so ago...just a very close knit loving family...a family that didn't deserve this.

When asked if this was a family that helped Adam Mayes, Rick Foster said Adam Mayes would come and work on cars, and do other things like mow the lawn or other odds and end things that Gary needed help with.  Rick said Adam befriended the family and was very trusted.  The kids adored him, called him uncle.  Gary took him in almost as a son.

Brenda Foster was a friend of Jo Ann since they were in Kindergarten.

She'd talked to Jo Ann on Wednesday night before this all happened.  Normal conversation, talking about school work.  They were attending the same college, Jo Ann was working towards her degree and becoming an Elementary teacher.

Jo Ann never said a bad word about Adam.  They looked at him kind of like a son.

Brenda says that Jo Ann and Adam were never close in an intimate way.

When asked what it's been like losing her best friend, Brenda said through tears that it has been very hard...very difficult.

Brenda Foster also said that she got the news last night in a phone call, during a ballgame in Bolivar.  She said they stopped the game and an announcement was made that the girls were found safe.  She said everyone was so excited that the girls were alive and safe..  The community had been so afraid for the girls, they had come together and tried to do anything they could.

Thanks texasmom.

the reluctant tip,no reward,(sorry couldnt find link) ,TMs mother says,he left TM holding the bag
not verbatim, the girls know what went down, and they know these people, that has caused them
 so much pain and grief
hang in there girls, dont let it eat up the rest of your lives

TUPELO, Mississippi (Reuters) - The wife of the man suspected of kidnapping a Tennessee mother and her three daughters has admitted she drove them to a house in Mississippi where the dead bodies of the mother and oldest daughter were later found, according to records released Tuesday.
Teresa Mayes, wife of Adam Mayes, was arrested Sunday along with his mother, Mary Mayes, officials said Tuesday. Both remain jailed at Hardeman County Jail in Tennessee.

He says the answer to that question made him feel even better. Authorities in Mississippi say the kidnapping victims, sisters Alexandria and Kyliyah Bain, 12 and 8, are physically okay after spending three days in the woods with their kidnapper, Adam Mayes.

I think I took this screen shot during one of the live feeds I was watching last night, I'm sorry I forgot to save the link!  It's the best aerial shot I have so far.  I think it's important to note that the garage that TBI searched was not right next to the house.

Authorities: Girls 'within inches' of kidnapper who turned gun on himself
(CNN) -- Dirty, dehydrated and starving, itching all over with poison ivy and bug bites, 12-year-old Alexandra Bain and her 8-year-old sister Kyliyah Bain lay face-down in a swath of northern Mississippi woods -- their kidnapper by their side.

Thirteen days earlier, authorities say the girls were abducted from their Whiteville, Tennessee, home by Adam Mayes after he strangled their mother and 14-year-old sister.

And for the last three days, Alexandria and Kyliyah had nothing to eat or drink.

Their weary, young bodies were prone, right along with Mayes, about dusk Thursday near a logging road in an area populated with deer and an occasional hunter, but little else.

Then a state officer -- one of scores of law enforcement agents who had been working round the clock to find Mayes and the Bain sisters -- yelled, "Get your hands up."

One girl picked her head up, soon followed by the other. Mayes himself then began to raise his head, all the while holding a 9 mm pistol.

"I hollered 'Gun!' three times to let my team know that there was a weapon involved," recalled Master Sgt. Steve Crawford, head of the Mississippi Highway Patrol's special operations unit.

"Then he raised to his knees, never brandished a gun toward any of us or the children, and at that time took his own life."

Kidnapped girls: We didn’t eat for days

GUNTOWN, Miss. — Hope was fading that two young sisters abducted from their Tennessee home would be found alive two weeks after they vanished: Their kidnapper had already killed their mother and sister, and he was armed with a pistol as officers closed in.

Adam Mayes could have killed them days ago, could have left them in the woods as he fled for another hideout, could have shot them in desperation as he was surrounded by officers. Yet 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah Bain went home to their father Friday alive, with no apparent injuries other than being tired, scared and itchy from poison ivy. They also told the officers who found them that they had not had food or water for three days, said Mississippi Highway Patrol Master Sgt. Steve Crawford.

Bain Sisters Strength Inspires FBI Agents

Memphis) As investigators searched for 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah Bain, FBI Special Agent in Charge Aaron T. Ford made the girls a promise.

“We’re spending day and night 24 hours a day to bring you back to Tennessee,” said Ford.

Agent Ford and the 17 agencies searching made good on that promise. Tonight Alexandria and Kyliyah are home in Hardeman County with their father Gary. Agent Ford says he can’t wait to meet the girls he worked so hard to rescue from their accused kidnapper Adam Mayes.

“It should be when their father agrees and when the two girls agree, and then I will meet with them and just talk about general things. What they want to talk about: school, crayons, coloring, whatever they want to do,” said Agent Ford.

texasmom,
Thanks for posting those photos.  They clearly show that any noise made in that garage wouldn't be heard from inside the home.  Don't you know that Gary Bain has beaten himself up over and over with what might have been.  The last thing he needs is having strangers question his role in this.  I hope he and the girls are able to get some rest and find some sense of peace while they mourn their wife, mom, daughter, and sister.

..(Guntown, MS) Guntown resident Ronald Roberts told us the woods don’t look the same — not after what happened there.

“There is blood right down there.”

He lives right next to the woods where authorities caught Adam Mayes.

The FBI said the two kidnapped Bain girls lay on the ground just feet away when Mayes chose to shoot himself in the head, instead of surrender to authorities.

At that spot, we found blood and evidence that rescue workers tried to save his life.

Absolutely, Thanks for posting the pics!!

I was under the impression the garage was attatched to the house.

Now it makes much more sense.

I too hope the family can get some rest and have the time and peace needed to grieve privately and reconnect as a family.

Bain’s Aunt Talks About Concern For Surviving Children and Mayes

(Whiteville, TN)  In Hardeman County, where this all started, there are a range of emotions.  Daughters Alexandria and Kyliyah are back home this evening but relatives of the Bain family are still waiting to bury the girls’ mother Jo Ann and older sister, Adrienne.

“Angry, sad, hurt, frustrated. Are there any other ones out there that I haven’t named,” asked Beverly Goodman, Jo Ann Bain’s aunt.

Goodman experienced a range of emotions over the last two weeks. Jo Ann was her niece and Adrienne, Alexandria and Kyliyah her great nieces.

“I hate Jo Ann and Adrienne had to die but I’m so glad the girls made it back safe because I was just fixing to give up hope,” said Goodman.

The girls survived and are back at home with their father, Gary Bain. The Hardeman County Sheriff’s office set up a road block cutting off traffic to the family’s home. They wanted to give the children time to adjust privately.

“They are going to have a long road to recovery. It’s going to be hard. It really is,” said Goodman.

Goodman hasn’t seen the girls yet. She’s giving them some space.

“I don’t know how much them girls know about their mother and their sister. I don’t know if they seen all that or if Gary has got to break the news to them or what so I was giving them time,” said Goodman.

Rescue of kidnapped Tennessee girls detailed

 ::snipping2::

When officers approached the girls, they were shaken and unable to speak much, but they didn't cry. The girls only sat up and stayed in place when Mayes shot himself, said Lt. Lee Ellington with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

"They were rather stoic in one sense and relieved," he said. "I heard the older girl tell her sister, 'Now we can go home."'

I think a lot of people have the same impression, just from reading about the case.

Jean Casarez even described it as "adjacent" on Nancy Grace tonight.  When I heard that description...it made me remember the screenshot I'd taken last night.  I knew they weren't attached because I'd seen separate pictures of the house and garage from Jo Ann's Facebook pictures and on a real estate website, but I didn't realize just how far apart they were until I could see the whole picture!

Absolutely! Thanks TexasMom....I also had pictured an attached garage to the home.

My heart is rejoicing today for these girls...
I hope that a book and movie deal come their way....they deserve something after all that they have been through. I know that it is really soon to be thinking about it, but if I have, then surely producers have.   Bless these girls and their family..
