texasmom,
Thanks for posting those photos.  They clearly show that any noise made in that garage wouldn't be heard from inside the home.  Don't you know that Gary Bain has beaten himself up over and over with what might have been.  The last thing he needs is having strangers question his role in this.  I hope he and the girls are able to get some rest and find some sense of peace while they mourn their wife, mom, daughter, and sister.

KittyMom, yes, I agree, and thank you texasmom for the photos.

I think I took this screen shot during one of the live feeds I was watching last night, I'm sorry I forgot to save the link!  It's the best aerial shot I have so far.  I think it's important to note that the garage that TBI searched was not right next to the house.

Bumping so people that don't read back see it.  The garage very far detached from the house.

Rescue of kidnapped Tennessee girls detailed

 ::snipping2::

When officers approached the girls, they were shaken and unable to speak much, but they didn't cry. The girls only sat up and stayed in place when Mayes shot himself, said Lt. Lee Ellington with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

"They were rather stoic in one sense and relieved," he said. "I heard the older girl tell her sister, 'Now we can go home."'

They were probably in shock.  PTSD help will be a must.

Quote
At one point, Mayes claimed to be the girls’ father. That may be why he spared them, one criminologist said. It also may be that while he wanted to escape prosecution, he didn’t believe the girls were better off dead. He was close to the family, described as an uncle-like figure who smiled cheek-to-cheek with the girls in Facebook photos.

“He probably developed an attachment to them, and even the most vicious of killers can separate the world into people they care about, people they detest and people they don’t care about,” said James Alan Fox, a criminologist at Northeastern University.

Trauma experts help question girls in U.S. murder, abduction case
By Emily Le Coz and Tim Ghianni
May 12, 2012

Child trauma specialists are helping
investigators interview two girls about being seized by a man
who authorities say killed their mother and sister and held them
captive for more than a week in thick Mississippi woods.

FBI spokesman Joel Siskovic said on Saturday the specialists
were advising the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, which is
leading the investigation into the bizarre abduction of
Alexandria Bain, 12, and her sister Kyliyah, 8.

I had read on Mr. Johnson's facebook when this all first began, he stated how upset he was etc.,.........but..........also in reference to the girls, it was basically I haven't seen them in years, thought they would be better off having the same last names, blah, blah.....In my opinion only....he was the ....sperm donor......period.......

No way should those two girls be separated, totally selfish and I hope its not even considered!

That might be true alagary, I hope not. I figured if they found the girls he was going to do this. I can hear him now saying I gave them up so they would have a better life. But I ended up losing one etc. That he just can't chance losing the other one. Or something like that. I hope he re-thinks this and doesn't try and drag it thru the courts. These little girls need to be together now more than ever. I really don't see it going any where as he gave up all rights when he let Mr. Bain adopt them.

ARUBA: It's all about Natalee...we won't give up!

« Reply #52 on: May 13, 2012, 06:38:18 AM »

I saw Mark Johnson's comments on Facebook.

More drama right now, that's all those girls need.

I think he's angry because he hasn't been allowed to see Alexandria yet, from what he said it would be Sunday or Monday before they would let him see her.

And he also said he wanted to stop Gary from moving away to "Cali" with her, I'm assuming that means California?

I agree with all who have said the girls shouldn't be separated, it's selfish to even consider that right now; and I can't even imagine anyone thinking that would be in their "best interest".

They've lost their mother and sister, and God only knows what other horrors they were subjected to that we may never even know about.  They need each other to get through this and heal.

Custody Battle Could Separate Surviving Bain Sisters

Posted on: 10:24 pm, May 12, 2012, by Daniel Hight, updated on: 08:53am, May 13, 2012

(Whiteville, TN) This past April 27, many lives changed due to the actions of Adam Mayes.
That’s the day Mayes murdered two people then kidnapped two young girls.

Mayes’ wife Teresa told police he wanted to kidnap 8-year-old Kyliyah Bain and her 12-year-old sister Alexandria. In the process, Teresa Mayes said 14-year-old Adrienne Bain and her mother Jo Ann were murdered.

May 10, Mayes killed himself and the two girls we’re rescued and sent home.

Since then, we’ve learned the two girls have different fathers and that could lead to more troubles for them.

More than a year ago, Mark Johnson signed over the fatherly rights to his daughters, Adrienne and Alexandria to Jo Ann Bain’s current husband Gary Bain.

Mark Johnson now wants his surviving daughter, Alexandria, back.

“It was a tough deal for him. He didn’t look at it like he was giving up his kids, but him and Jo Ann and Gary sat down and had a good agreement of what they were doing and why they were doing it. Now that Jo Ann is not in her life, he just wants to get her (Alexandria) back.”
That’s according the Mike Johnson, Mark’s uncle.

Saturday, Mark posted on his Facebook page that he didn’t care who he made mad, he need a good lawyer to get his baby back.

His uncle believes that custody battle could be tough, “He signed his rights away and I think once you do that, if you go through the court, then it’s going to be a tough deal to get it back unless, Gary is providing and willing.”

But the Johnson family believes Gary is not willing.

Mark said Gary Bain is trying to take the girls to California.

He said Gary wants to spread the ashes of Jo Ann and Adrienne on the beaches there, and is afraid Alexandria and Kyliyah will never come back to Tennessee.

“I hope that Alex gets to come back with Mark and gets to bond with our family back with Mark,” said Mike Johnson.

Bio dad remarried and had 3 little girls.  He needs to focus on being their daddy and let Alexandria come to him when she's ready to meet him.  She needs to be with her sister and with the man who has been her daddy for these past 10? years.  She probably wouldn't even know him if he walked into the room.  Don't put that child through any more torment.  Can you imagine how terrified she'd be is she sees this headline on the news?  Another selfish man making life-changing decisions about her.  Just cruel, imo.
