Casey Anthony bankruptcy case to stay in Tampa
Published On: Feb 25 2013 12:39:35 PM EST Updated On: Feb 26 2013 11:13:28 AM EST

ORLANDO, Fla. -
A judge denied a motion on Tuesday from Zenaida Gonzalez's attorneys to move Casey Anthony's bankruptcy hearing from Tampa to Orlando.

Lawyers for Gonzalez wanted Anthony's bankruptcy case moved from Tampa to Orlando. Roy Kronk, the Orange County meter reader who was a witness in her murder trial, joined the motion to move the trial on Monday.

US Bankruptcy Judge K. Rodney May ruled that Casey Anthony's bankruptcy case will remain in the Tampa division.

"There is a publicity factor that is extraordinary," May said on Tuesday. "It's beyond the ordinary."

Attorney Scott Shuker, who represented Gonzalez in court, argued that since Anthony has listed her home address as Hopespring Drive and since 27 creditors live in Orlando, the case should be transferred to the Orlando division.

Anthony's bankruptcy attorney David Schrader argued that 65 percent of the creditors are outside Central Florida. He said holding the bankruptcy hearings at the "epicenter of publicity" in Orlando would put Anthony's life in danger and that security arrangements have already been made with the US Marshal in Tampa for next week's creditor meeting, which Anthony is expected to attend in-person.

He also argued he works pro-bono and Tampa is more convenient for him.

You mean they don't have newspapers and TV in Tampa?   What a lame reason.   Wherever it is held Casey will get the notoriety she deserves,   Another Judge caves in to her lawyers...

A woman in Alabama just got some federal prison time for hiding assets during her bankruptcy case. A little bit of hope.
http://blog.al.com/live/2013/02/daphne_woman_gets_prison_time.html#incart_river

There's always hope. But my first thought was there are people like you, me or the woman in Alabama and then there are people like Casey Anthony.  If it were you or me alagary, we would probably be doing time in prison.  Since it's Casey, probably not.  She's like teflon.  Nothing seems to stick.

  You have that right Muffy

And I wish I were wrong, Green Eyes.    I keep hoping somehow, someway Casey will eventually get what she's got coming to her.

Me too Muffy   I keep hoping the same thing. Eventually the odds have to go against her I would think.  I do believe with my whole being that she will get whats due her in the end. I just hope we are all around to see it.

Either this judge is also bowing to her attorney's will or he wants to be 'famous' too.

Casey Anthony: Latest chapter will be behind closed doors
Caylee and Casey Anthony — posted by halboedeker on February, 26 2013 1:55 PM

Casey Anthony will be back in the news Monday, but whether she’ll be seen is another matter.

Her bankruptcy case will stay in Tampa, a federal judge ruled Tuesday, citing security concerns. Zenaida Gonzalez and Roy Kronk, who are suing Anthony, had wanted the case moved to Orlando.

Anthony will be required to attend a hearing with her creditors Monday afternoon in Tampa, WESH-Channel 2 said, relaying an NBC News report.

WKMG-Channel 6’s Mike DeForest, reporting from Tampa, noted that the hearing would take place behind closed doors.

Can we expect a media frenzy?

Probably not. She might be seen entering or exiting the building, but her attorneys may want to keep her shielded.

No cameras are allowed in the courthouse, and reporters won’t be able to bring electronic devices in, either. Unlike Anthony’s murder trial, Monday’s hearing won’t be aired on television or streamed online, so viewers will have to rely on reporters who attend the hearing in person.

Wouldn't it be so appropriate if this happened to a certain resident of Florida? Biblical!

Can Casey Anthony's belongings be used to pay creditors?
February 27, 2013

Orange County --
For the first time, Casey Anthony will be forced to answer questions.
News 13 will be there as Anthony arrives in Tampa on Monday to talk with attorneys about her bankruptcy filing.
Orlando attorney Scott Shuker will be one of those people asking the questions.
"She claims she has no income, but how does she eat? We're going to get down to the basics.”
Shuker said if Casey Anthony lies, she could end up back in jail for a bankruptcy crime.
"If she lied, and there was a book deal or movie deal, that's what is called a ‘bankruptcy crime’ and people go to jail every year for failing to list things on their schedules."
Shuker is representing Zenaida Gonzalez, the woman whose name is similar to the made-up nanny Casey said had her daughter Caylee.
Gonzalez has a defamation lawsuit filed against Anthony and is one of dozens of people Anthony says could try to get money from her.
 ::snipping2::
"Have you been approached prior to filing for a book, a movie, any other kind of offer? Because it's possible that offer could be considered an asset of the state which could be sold and paid to creditors."

Here's the catch, if Anthony gets a fresh start through bankruptcy and then later does a book deal, that money would be hers.
Anthony's attorney said a deal was not in the works.
In the filing, Anthony listed her belongings as a dresser, a bike and some jewelry. All of it worth less than $1,500, but that will be up to a trustee to decide.
Shuker said he believes people could be willing to pay top dollar for the items in an auction because 'they belonged to Casey Anthony.'
If a trustee finds that to be the case, he could auction the items and the money would be paid back to creditors.
Anthony will meet with attorneys Monday afternoon in downtown Tampa.

Many years ago a bankruptcy lawyer  tripped me up in court about a $400 car that I had forgot that I owned. Fingers crossed.

Casey Anthony out of hiding Monday, faces questioning in bankruptcy
Casey Anthony required to attend creditor's meeting in Tampa

March 2, 2013

She's been living in hiding since her acquittal, the subject of tabloid reports, online leaks and rampant speculation.

But for the first time since her murder trial, the media and public on Monday afternoon will know exactly where Casey Anthony is: at a creditors meeting in Tampa for her recently filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Casey arrives for the bankruptcy hearing, almost covered by Cheney Mason.  They tried to park in the courthouse underground lot but were turned away and she had to walk in.  So how's that Bella Vita working
for you Casey?

Thanks for the links --- in my view, she, especially, and her legal supporters thrive on this public chaos.  Perhaps an arranged private entry was not even requested ??? !!!!!!!  [  More electric publicity! ]
