Thanks for the update all.

A CONFESSION?

Could it be that someone grew a conscience, confessed and led authorities to Isabel's remains? The past five years of not knowing must have been a h--- on Earth for Isabel's family. Hopefully a resolution will be forthcoming ... a resolution that implies justice for Isabel and a measure of closure for her family.

Magnus did not say how long the remains were in that location but he did say they were not found by accident.

"It was not a happenstance," he said. "There has been on going process of many searches, this was not a happenstance. I cannot get into any greater detail than that." .....

Magnus said he could not release information on any possible suspects but said he could not answer when asked if anyone was in custody.

JMO
and stating the obvious....
but the demeanor of her father Sergio, never set well with me.
As well as the mom's cousin (and spokesperson in the first few days) of Justin Mastromarino
who fled the state within days to Florida where he had his vehicle shipped to.
He refused to answer any questions and directed questions to his lawyer.
How do you make a living Justin?

It seemed the family was reluctant to call this cousin out publicly and i'm not sure why.

I'm not implying that I think Sergio or Justin hurt the child. But i do feel they know why she was taken and by whom.

I don't mean to sound insensitive to the family. But I don't think anyone protected this baby adequately.

Celis family's church shares sadness after Isabel's remains found
Published:Saturday, April 1st 2017, 10:15 pm CDT
Updated:Saturday, April 1st 2017, 10:15 pm CDT

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The purple balloons used to be filled with hope. They were once a symbol of a wishful, safe return for Isabel Celis, then 6 years old. Those purple balloons are now resting with sadness, and flowers from visitors, on the driveway of Celis' former home.

Friday's breaking details of her remains being identified spread around the corner to the family's church. People there at St. Joseph Catholic Parish and School on South Craycroft Road in Tucson, said Isabel's parents, Sergio and Rebecca, are still members.

Hi Seahorse

I could be wrong but somehow it makes sense that a reward would be paid to an informant only if he/she was not deemed a suspect/ participant in the  disappearance/ murder of Isabel? Janet

Hi Janet,

I agree with you culprits cannot collect a reward.  How can the public find out if, if, if, the award money (60,000) was given for the information? It must be public information?

Information is still being accepted in the case.  No mention of any reward for information, maybe because opportunists would create a story for money.

It could have been an (speculating) ex-girlfriend who knew, but if a person confessed would they be under arrest?  To remember a so called “remote” location in the desert, you would think it was daytime when the culprit (or culprits) buried the child’s remains. IMO.

“No suspect in her death has been arrested and Magnus said officers are still accepting information.”

“This is a very important step in the case, so that’s one of the reasons why we’re still asking the public if they have any leads. We believe there may still be folks out there who perhaps know something or feel now that they’re willing to come forward with information.”

Anyone with more information on Celis’ death is asked to call 88-CRIME or the Tucson Police Department.

Hundreds gather at Tucson cathedral to remember Isabel Celis
Caitlin Schmidt Arizona Daily Star
Apr 29, 2017 Updated Apr 29, 2017

One couldn't help but notice the purple shirts and dresses scattered among the crowd of nearly 500 seated in pews at Isabel Celis' funeral mass on Saturday morning.

Purple was Isabel's favorite color.

At the front of St. Augustine Cathedral, an easel displayed two pictures of Isabel, first as a baby and the second the familiar photo of her smiling face that was widely circulated after the 6-year-old girl went missing in 2012.

Ushers handed attendees a prayer card that listed the date of her death as March 3, 2017, a few weeks before Tucson police announced that her remains had been found in a rural area of Pima County.

A Mariachi band played during the processional and throughout the service, between speakers and Scripture readings by Isabel's older brothers, Sergio and Julian.

New reports in Isabel Celis investigation
Posted: May 25, 2017 7:19 PM CDT
Updated: Jun 08, 2017 7:23 PM CDT

TUCSON - News 4 Tucson has obtained new investigative reports regarding the death of Isabel Celis.

The incident date listed in the Tucson Police Department documents is Friday, March 3, 2017.  That is a few weeks before Chief Chris Magnus announced the discovery of Celis’ remains. That date also matches the date of death listed in fliers passed out at Celis’ memorial.

The papers also state an unidentified man was questioned in the investigation, and he denied any involvement.

Man charged with killing 2 Arizona girls who went missing
Associated Press•September 15, 2018

Magnus and other officials held a news conference to announce the indictment. But they declined to answer questions from reporters and did not disclose how the girls died or what prompted authorities to investigate Clements in the killings, except to say that the FBI in 2017 learned Clements might have information about the death of Celis.

He then provided information to authorities that led to the discovery of Celis' remains, Magnus said. Investigators later discovered additional pieces of evidence, but they did not describe Saturday what they had found.

Clements was being held on a $2 million bond, Tucson Police Sgt. Pete Dugan said.

Clements was jailed in April 2017 on suspicion of burglary, theft and fraudulent schemes, Maricopa County Sheriff's Sgt. Bryant Vanegas said Saturday. Vanegas did not have information about when Clements might be transferred to southern Arizona to face charges in the case of the girl's killings.
The indictment made public Saturday did not provide any details about how the girls were killed or what evidence linked Clements to the killings. It said he was also charged with burglary, theft and possession or distribution of child pornography in other cases dating from 2012 through 2016.

Clements was charged and convicted in Oregon in 1998 of sex-related crimes and was required to register as a sex offender. He was charged and convicted in 2006 in Bay City, Florida, for failing to register, according to Florida law enforcement records.

He was also charged in 2008 in Tucson with failing to register as a sex offender. He was convicted and sentenced to serve 46 months in prison and five years of supervised release

Wow, now I'm really wondering how he targeted Isabel?

I have been waiting for news that Isabel would one day be found. I was hoping that she was taken to live with family elsewhere, but honestly I knew better. I am absolutely heartbroken for Isabel's mother and especially her father who not only lost his daughter but was relentlessly accused of killing her. I understand why and no one should be criticized for looking at family, but knowing what we know now I feel very sad for him. While this is not the news the family wanted, it is a step in the direction of justice. I cannot believe this guy was given so many opportunities to collect more victims. I will never understand that. Rest easy girls, justice is coming.

I want to know this too. How were they targeted? I want to say I read somewhere that he had recently moved nearby her. Here's this from an article:

"Records show Clements lived at multiple locations around the Tucson area from 2007 - 2012. With one of his listed addresses being less than two miles from Isabel Celis' apartment."

I wonder if this information here will be relevant soon?

"...unreleased footage from three store security cameras pointing toward Isabel Celis's neighborhood, including the streets and alleyways around her house. We scoured through hours of footage from the early-morning hours of April 21, 2012.

Cars, coming and going at all hours. At 1:24 a.m., a large van passes through. At 2:36 a private security vehicle stops and hits the lights.

Then at 3:32, a figure crosses the front parking lot. A little later, another figure of a man crosses the lot.

Then at around 8:45 you can see the Isabel's family looking around her house about 150 feet down the street from the camera. You can see Becky racing home in her SUV.

But in the entire recording, we never see an image of a little girl."
