MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Police arrested 18-year-old Terry "TJ" Wood Friday, January 17, in connection with a robbery that happened January 14. According to reports, the victim was struck in the head with a flower pot.

Police say two men asked the victim for a ride on Lee Circle. When he refused, police said one of the men picked up a flower pot and beat the victim in the face. The suspects stole the man's wallet and car keys.

Wood is charged with first-degree robbery and theft of property.

Wood is the younger brother of missing mother Brittney Wood.

One physical trait this bunch - whether blood related or not - all have in common, the cold dead eyes.  It's unfortunate it will probably never be known how many generations all the abuse goes back, so much could be learned.

Few leads in case of missing teen mom
By Gabriel Tynes

JUNE 22, 2012

Three weeks after a South Mobile County teen mother walked out of her mother’s house and stopped communicating with family members, the Mobile Police Department said there is still an active investigation into her whereabouts, although the search has somewhat cooled. Contrary to early reports, police have learned it was not unusual for 19-year-old Brittney Wood to leave her house for days at time, although during those absences, she usually kept in contact with her family.

MPD Cpl. Chris Levy said he couldn’t go into too much detail out of concern for the department’s investigative techniques, but Wood’s family reported her missing June 2 after she "packed her bags and walked out of the house” May 30.

I don't understand WHY A.J. isn't using his notoriety to bring more attention to missing Brittney?

I have felt all along that someone(s) were trying to coverup this story as much as possible and that's why these animals have been given slap on the wrist bonds.  Once I read that this A.J. was related, it seemed IMO that was the answer - they are trying to insulate and distance him from this family to protect his future.

From what I recall, the only bag mentioned has been a pink or teal tote bag.  My understanding is one bag.  But who really knows?  Pink or teal are not even close in color, did she have one of each and they're both missing?

Baldwin County woman accused of sexual encounter with teen, teen's mother

Jennifer Moore, 32, of Magnolia Springs

FOLEY, Alabama — Bail was reduced Monday from $100,000 to $10,000 for a woman accused of having a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old girl and the girl's mother.

Jennifer Moore, 32, of Magnolia Springs, was arrested in November on charges of second-degree sexual abuse and producing child pornography. The child porn charge stems from Moore being accused of recording the sexual encounter with a phone.

Moore had a preliminary hearing Monday before Baldwin County District Court Judge Michelle Thomason at a satellite courthouse in Foley. The judge decided a grand jury should hear the case.

Moore was arrested in November as a part of sex abuse investigation that has resulted in arrests by the sheriffs' offices in Mobile and Baldwin counties.

Relatives of Brittney Wood, who has been missing since 2012, and friends of her relatives have been arrested as a part of the investigation.

The parents of the victim in Moore's case also are connected to the sexual abuse investigation. During a hearing in November for suspects charged in Mobile County, it was alleged Wood family members and their friends passed their children back and forth for sex.

Moore remained in the Baldwin County Corrections Center on Monday night.

Mother of missing woman takes polygraph
Updated: Wednesday, March 5, 2014, 11:07 pm
Published: Wednesday, March 5, 2014, 7:03 pm

The mother of missing woman Brittney Wood says she passed a polygraph examination with flying colors, some 9 months after she was arrested in an elaborate child sex ring investigation.

Click here to read the full Polygraph report

During the exam, which Wood paid for and had independently administered by a licensed polygraph examiner, she was asked a total of 10 questions, only 3 of which were relevant to her charges.

The report states she answered those questions truthfully, denying allegations of sex abuse.

Chessie Wood is one of 11 suspects accused of abusing at least one child in the family who is also related to her missing daughter, Brittney.

A 19-year old Brittney Wood was last seen with her uncle Donald Holland on May 30, 2012.

Authorities said Holland killed himself shortly after with Brittney’s gun.

After his suicide, nearly a dozen relatives and family friends were arrested and charged with various sex crimes against children in what some law enforcement officials have called the worst child sex ring in the state of Alabama.

Court documents show Chessie Wood’s attorney is trying to enter her polygraph results into evidence.

When asked if she would allow the state to administer a polygraph exam, Chessie Wood responded “No.”

Judge rules Chessie Wood’s lie detector test inadmissible
Updated: Thursday, March 13, 2014, 4:20 pm
Published: Thursday, March 13, 2014, 11:25 am

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – On Thursday, March 13, Judge Jay York ruled a private lie detector test taken by Chessie Wood will not be entered as evidence in her alleged child sex abuse case.

“Problem with this test is it’s not the test itself, it’s the results of the test. Now all of a sudden the test is inadmissible,” said Wood’s attorney Michael McDuffie.

McDuffie said he was angry that the judge barely let him talk. The test was paid for by Wood, and involved 10 questions. Three of those questions were relevant to Wood’s case. Wood is charged with sex abuse and sodomy.

Assistant DA Nicki Patterson said in court with lie detector tests like these, both the prosecution and the defense have to agree and the state adamantly does not.

“He, in my opinion, is attempting to manipulate public opinion and the potential jury pool by putting this out in the news. Polygraphs are not admissible in the state of Alabama because they have been ruled scientifically unbelievable,” Patterson said.

Patterson said she can’t comment on state administered polygraphs.

“The state isn’t allowed under our rules of ethics to comment on whether someone has taken a polygraph, been offered to one to take, or has failed a one,” she said.

MOBILE, Alabama -- A detective focused on getting child predators off the streets was honored Thursday as the Mobile Police Department's 2013 Officer of the Year. Among his notable cases are the arrests of three people related to missing mother Brittney Wood.

Officer Jeffrey Corley has been with MPD since at least 2010, when he testified in the case against a 62-year-old man who was later found guilty of taking nude photographs of a 2-year-old girl.

Corley is one of four MPD officers assigned to the Child Advocacy Center of Mobile alongside officers from other area-agencies.

"Many of the cases assigned to Det. Corley involve the most vile sexual offenses perpetrated against innocent children by perpetrators, most of which are known to the victim and in some cases (that) they are related to," Patrick said.

"During the course of his investigations, Det. Corley found himself charging mothers, fathers, stepfathers, cousins, babysitters and even neighbors with the most heinous sexual crimes imaginable against small children."

Among Corley's notable 2013 cases, Patrick pointed to the October arrest of multiple family members accused of abusing two child victims. Records from Mobile County Metro Jail show Corley arrested Dustin "Dusty" Kent, Wendy Wood Holland and Mendy Wood Kent on Oct. 22.

All three are related to Brittney Wood, who has been missing since May 2012.

Members of alleged inter-family sex ring connected to missing mother Brittney Wood in court Thursday

MOBILE, Alabama – Eight people accused of passing children back and forth for sex within a group of family and friends will enter pleas to a host of sex-abuse charges on Thursday.

William Brownlee, James Cumbaa, Wendy Holland, Dustin Kent, Mendy Kent, Nelton Morgan, Chessie Wood and Randall "Scott" Wood were arrested in October, and are charged with the abuse of two children, aged 7 and 9, over a period of years.

During testimony at a bond hearing in November, prosecutors gave details about the attacks, which allegedly included individual and group acts between the children and the defendants. Charges levied against some of the accused are first- and second-degree sodomy, first-degree rape and sexual abuse, involving children younger than 12 and no older than 16. A complete breakdown of the charges, in both Mobile and Baldwin counties, can be found here.  http://blog.al.com/live/2013/10/7_brittney_wood_family_members.html

All of the accused are either direct relatives or family friends of Brittney Wood, a single mother who went missing nearly two years ago and is feared dead. It is suspected she was also a victim of sex abuse as a child.

I believe Brittney Wood was murdered.  I hope her remains can be recovered for forensic evidence and for her to be laid to rest.  There may be one thing good that has come out  Brittney's disappearance is it revealed a filthy underbelly of child sex abusers.  Her death may not have been in vain.  JMHO

Key Investigator on Missing Brittney Wood Case
Posted: May 15, 2014 6:25 PM CST Updated: May 15, 2014 7:11 PM CST
By Tiffany McCall - bio | email

Corporal Terri Hall has been working on the missing Brittney Wood case since the beginning.

"Out of all the cases that I have worked and investigated this is the most intense," she said.

"It's been trying. Sometimes we follow up on leads and it's something you don't expect. You've seen some arrests, of course everybody has, but it has been a continuing investigation and we are following up on every lead we possibly can," she said.

Since Brittney's disappearance, several people, including family members, have been arrested in bizarre allegations of sex abuse involving incest with family members and friends. They're crimes Cpl. Hall finds difficult to talk about.

"It's hard to talk about because you can't even imagine what these children have gone through. We are talking about people that are suppose to love them and care for them and they are using them for their needs and they are using them. Every time I think about it I think about what they had to go through on an everyday basis and I really believe they thought this was normal. And the only way I can describe this family and the people that are associated with this family is sick," said Cpl. Hall.

She says the real heroes in this investigation are the children involved. About 4 to 5 children have come forward to help with put the suspects behind bars.

"I am extremely proud of the children in this investigation and thank God they had the courage to do that. For those that do come forward that's just a highway for others you know. I'm always amazed that these children can come through this," she said.

It's a job that takes its toll, "Sometimes I have restless nights, but they are only restless because I have a goal in mind and that goal is to see an investigation."

For Cpl. Hall, an arrest in a case isn't the end. Her gratification comes only after knowing her hard work has made a difference in a child's life.

"Until that child knows there's no one that's going to take their innocence. They don't have to be physically abused anymore. When that child knows they can close their eyes and rest. That's what I want for them. That's the happiness. Knowing that that child has been saved," she said.

Cpl. Hall has been awarded Deputy of the Year by the Mobile County Sheriff's Office. She is the first woman to hold the honor.

Hopefully someone will step up and do something awe inspiring for Brittney, for her daughter, Payton who hasn't seen her momma in two years now; and the other innocent child victims in this case.  The victims that found the courage to speak out, they're miracles too, and deserve a second chance too...to be children...to be loved; and not abused by those who were supposed to love and care for them.  JMO

AJ McCarron And Katherine Webb Make Inspiring Choice For Flower Girl At Their Wedding

Just off his selection in the fifth round of the NFL draft, freshly minted Cincinnati Bengals player AJ McCarron has made an important pick of his own.

The former Alabama quarterback and his new fiancée, Katherine Webb, have chosen Starla Chapman to be the flower girl at their wedding. Starla is a 5-year-old leukemia survivor, who met McCarron in 2011 when he visited the University of South Alabama Children's and Women's Hospital to hand out presents on Christmas Eve.
