KlaasKids Foundation helping to locate 19-year-old Linnea Lomax
UPDATED 5:11 PM PDT Aug 19, 2012

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) -
Searchers said they have found items belonging to missing UC-Davis student Linnea Lomax.

After three days of combing through the weeds and thick brush on the banks of the American River in Sacramento, search leaders said they have found a yellow legal pad and folder containing notes written by Lomax.

The items were in the woman's possession when she disappeared from on June 26 from the 800 block of Howe Avenue.

"As of this point, this is the only place we can point to and say 'She was here,' since the time of her disappearance," said Lomax's father, Craig.

On behalf of the Lomax family, we wish to thank the community for the support they have given in the continuing search for Linnea. At this time, we are aware that human remains have been found today in the Sacramento area. Until these remains have been identified by law enforcement, we do not know if they are Linnea's. In our sorrow…
Help Find Linnea

Wonderful volunteers. We are grieved to report that we have just received confirmation that our search for Linnea has ended in sorrow. She has gone to be with her Lord. Yet in our sorrow we do not despair, knowing we will see her again one day. Arrangements for a Celebration of Life service are being made and details will follow. More information will be released as her family deems appropriate. In the meantime, please allow them privacy as they mourn, and please continue to hold them up in prayer. “13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep...18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 English Standard Version (ESV)

Lomax was well known for being heavily involved in her College Life Christian Fellowship group. Members of the group got together at a home in Dixon to pray and talk about what happened.

Some of the members were at the discovery site just south of Glenn Hall Park Friday morning - where searchers found the badly decomposed body of 19 year old Linnea Lomax.

The cause of death is still being investigated, but officials say there were no signs of foul play.

Search crews had been looking for Lomax since she was reported missing in Late June.  Many of her College Life Christian Fellowship members participated in several of the searches.

They are extremely sad, but knew there was a chance that Lomax would not be found alive.

The Family of Linnea Lomax plan to hold a press conference at Cold Springs Community Church in Placerville Tuesdsay morning September 11th at 10:00 AM.

Linnea Lomax Hanged Herself, Her Father Says
September 11, 2012 11:02 AM

PLACERVILLE (CBS13) – Linnea Lomax, the UC Davis student found dead last week near the American River, hanged herself, her father said during a press conference on Monday.

Linnea’s badly decomposed body was discovered on Friday morning by her mother in dense brush behind a home on Sandburg Way in the Campus Commons area.

Linnea’s mother spoke at the press conference describing how she found her daughter’s body.

“I crawled through on my knees and hands and I came to a pretty place right by the river and the river was there and there was nothing else there and then I saw my daughter. I looked for 2 seconds and I knew that was her, I ran up screaming and we called 9-1-1 and that’s how it went,” explained an emotional Marianne Lomax.
