19 Year Old UC-Davis Coed Linnea Lomax Missing Since 6/26/12 in Sacramento, CA Area

19 year old UC Davis student Linnea Lomax is missing and was last seen Tuesday afternoon, June 26, 2012 leaving an outpatient therapy center in the Sacramento area off the 800 block of Howe Avenue. She is considered to be at-risk because her disappearance is not consistent with her “normal behavior patterns” and she is also without her medication.

The family of missing Linnea Lomax is concerned as they had pulled Linnea out of school right before finals due to her erratic behavior and put her into a mental health hospital for 10 days. Just one day after being released, she disappeared.

UC Davis Teen Disappears Day After Release From Mental Health Hospital

http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2012/06/28/uc-davis-teen-disappears-day-after-release-from-mental-health-hospital/

Quote
People have been passing out flyers looking for Linnea Lomax. She was last seen Tuesday leaving an outpatient therapy center in the Sacramento area off Howe Avenue, and now there’s a huge group hoping to find her.

More than 100 people, family, friends and total strangers all showed up to search for 19-year-old Linnea, who has been missing for more than 48 hours.

“I think people call it a nervous breakdown. I don’t know if that’s the technical term for it but she just got so stressed she broke down,” said Craig Lomax, her father.

Urgent Prayer Request for Linnea Lomax
Posted on June 27, 2012 by admin

Yesterday (6/26) around 1 PM one of Rock-N-Water’s staff, Linnea Lomax, walked out of an outpatient facility in the Sacramento area and has not been seen since. A search for her was started yesterday, and is still ongoing. Please see the attached flyer for more information, and consider sharing it with your friends/facebook, especially those that are in and around the greater Sacramento area.

Please pray for everyone involved in this situation.

Most of our summer staff are currently assisting with the search, however a small group of staff have remained in camp and are taking care of all the groups that are here. Today (Wednesday) we were able to re-arrange things for all groups to be able to go out on adventures, however as this situation progresses it may become more difficult for us to do so. If you are coming to Rock-N-Water this summer, and especially over the next few days/week, please be flexible with us as we attempt to continue to provide you with an amazing trip, while balancing the physical and emotional needs of our staff. We will try to individually contact trips as soon as we have a clearer vision of what this might mean for your trip.

To assist in the search please contact Mandy Helton-Jones at 619-300-3314.

Updated information will be available here: http://www.facebook.com/HelpFindLinnea

Linnea Lomax Possibly Sighted
June 30, 2012 02:45 AM EDT

here are new details in the Linnea Lomax disappearance. The family of the missing UC Davis woman have released clarifications on the clothing she was wearing when she was last seen this week. There are also new comments regarding her emotional state -- which lends to a dark feeling over this entire case. Where is the 19-year-old college freshman and will she be found safely?
 ::snipping2::

 ::snipping2::
The description of the clothing worn by the missing woman include a black hoodie with the word "Sweden" in red across the front of it. She was also wearing green pants and flip flops -- though the color of the flip flops was not released.

The latest update in the disappearance of Linnea Lomax comes with the possibility of a sighting. After midnight on Wednesday it was reported that she may have been sighted behind a Costco store. Though the details of this alleged sighting are shaky at best. Hopefully volunteer searches turn out positive and she is found safe and sound. Her family believes that she is frightened and doesn't want to be found. Why?

Well, her father seems to know exactly what's in her head, which is a curious oddity:

"She thinks that all that help that is coming to help her is something bad. She's thinking they're going to give her meds and give her therapy for something she doesn't think she has," said Craig Lomax.

This is a really sad case to me because I have seen this happen first hand.  A patient that I was helping with...came to us (mental health unit)  AFTER she left her home country...she didn't feel she needed treatment and ended up in Oklahoma...then made it down here to Florida.  She hitched a ride and ended up with a group of guys that did some bad stuff to her.  She had no shoes when we got her...her feet were cut up extremely bad.  Her emotional state was awful.  It was so so sad.

I have been praying that by now she would have been found safe.

It brings back memories of when I had a breakdown.  Thank goodness I fled to some friends who made sure I got the help I needed.  It's a scary time when you feel you can see sanity and insanity divided by a clearly marked line . . . just one more step and you are over the line.

It sounds like she may be bi-polar or schizophrenic.  Hopefully, she will be found soon by someone honest and trustworthy.

Linnea Lomax, 19, Missing After Leaving Mental Health Facility

"She was at the clinic for an all day visit, but she walked out during lunch and never came back."

Lomax was being treated for a mental breakdown due to the stress of finals, her family explained. She had been in treatment for one week before being transitioned to outpatient therapy.

We have got to make changes in our mental health system.  She should have been kept hospitalized for a longer period of time.  imo

Good post Sister...I hear ya.
Thanks Nut.
I was/am neither bi-polar or schizophrenic -- just stressed to the max and didn't know how to handle it.  Years ago I learned bio-feed back and that has not only helped with physical pain issues but stress as well.

Sister, I did not mean to offend you by my post.  I was referring to Linnea's fears about the meds and the denial that she is sick.  It reminds me of those I know who suffer from those particular mental illnesses.

I do wonder if she went on her own to the outpatient meeting or if a family member was with her.  I know that in my state, a person is free to leave an outpatient program on their own.  Not the best in some cases where individuals fail to recognize their illness, imo.

Oh KittyMom, I was not offended at all.  Just offering another perspective.
