Sneiderman freed from jail after posting bond

DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — The widow charged in her husband's slaying outside a suburban Atlanta preschool has been released from jail after posting bond, authorities said.

Andrea Sneiderman met the conditions of the $500,000 bond late Thursday morning, and was released from the DeKalb County Jail shortly after noon Thursday.

On Tuesday, DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Gregory Adams set the bond after Sneiderman's attorneys said she wasn't a flight risk and would follow instructions not to contact witnesses.

Sneiderman was indicted Aug. 2 on charges of malice murder and criminal attempt to commit murder in the Nov. 18, 2010, killing of her husband, Russell "Rusty" Sneiderman. He was gunned down shortly after dropping off the couple's son at the preschool.

Sneiderman maintains that she is innocent, and denied knowing anything about the shooting. Her lawyer Tom Clegg said they expect she will be exonerated at trial.

Prosecutors allege Andrea Sneiderman was having an affair with the gunman, Hemy Neuman, who was also her boss, and conspired with him to kill her husband in part to collect $2 million in life insurance policies. She has denied an affair.

Neuman was convicted earlier this year and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

The judge ordered Sneiderman to live with her parents and be placed under house arrest, to surrender her passport and the passports of her young children and to wear a monitoring device. The judge also ordered Sneiderman not to have any contact with any potential witness in the case.

Does anyone have any idea of where her children are?  Every time one of these nutcases is given bond or not arrested, I think of what Josh Powell did with his supposedly "beloved" sons.

The battle over how often the parents of Dunwoody day care murder victim, Rusty Sneiderman, get to see his children, has taken another turn.

In court records filed Wednesday, his parents said his Andrea Sneiderman's attorneys have canceled all visitations with the children since her arrest last week.
           
Last month, Andrea Sneiderman’s attorneys told the judge she did not need to order visitation because the grandparents had been regularly allowed to Skype with their grandkids every week. The new motion asks the judge to order those visits to resume.

Andrea Sneiderman has custody of her children, and has fought court ordered visitation, but allowed a weekly meeting over the computer, so the kids can see her late husband's parents. But those chats have stopped since her arrest last week. She is accused of murdering her husband, as well as insurance fraud and other charges.
           
On Monday, Don and Marilyn Sneiderman's attorney wrote they were “looking forward to their weekly Skype call with their grandchildren” and wanted to confirm it would still happen. The response from Andrea Sneiderman's attorney was, "Under the present circumstances there will be no Skyping at this time.”
           
In the filing, the grandparents' attorney calls it, “A retaliatory and punitive measure,” accusing Andrea of, “using her children as pawns.” The filing calls the action “morally repugnant and not in the best interest of the children.”
           
In an email response, Andrea Sneiderman’s attorneys said they, “would revisit the issue only after the bond hearing,” which is scheduled for Aug. 21.

Judge Gregory Adams, who presided over Hemy Neuman's trial, granted her $500,000 bond. She will be under house arrest in her parents' house until her arraignment on Sept. 6.

4:27 p.m. -- Sneiderman will be arraigned at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6.

4:25 p.m. -- Adams clarifies that Sneiderman can have contact with her children and parents; although her rabbi (Hirsch Minkowicz) may be a witness in her trial, she may also contact him because he is a spiritual adviser.

4:23 p.m. -- Adams sets Sneiderman's bond for $500,000. He requires her to pay $250,000 of it in cash. She must also have no contact with witnesses and must surrender her passport. She must live with her parents under house arrest until her trial and must wear an ankle monitor.

4:20 p.m. -- Sneiderman returns to the courtroom.

::snipping2::Her in-laws filed for custody of her two children, ages 6 and 3, following her arrest last week. The children are currently living with their maternal grandparents. ::snipping2::

And since she was ordered to live with her parents, that would make her access to the children virtually unfettered.  I don't blame Rusty's parents for asking for custody and it is a shame that their pleas are being set aside while the criminal matter is taking place.
