CPSC orders second recall of Bumbo baby seats
August 15, 2012

 ::snipping2::
Michael Finney showed back in 2007 children can fall over in the baby seats, especially if they are sitting on a table or countertop. The Consumer Product Safety Commission pulled the Bumbo seats off store shelves after that investigation. But, quickly allowed them back after stronger warnings were added to both the packaging and the seats themselves. Since then, 7 On Your Side has reported at least 45 children injured in falls, 17 of them suffered skull fractures.

Popular Bumbo Seats Recalled, Injuries Reported
August 15, 2012

 ::snipping2::
Recalled Bumbo seats are made in South Africa, and were sold at stores all over the United States including Sears, Target, Toys R Us, Walmart from August 2003 to August 2012.

If you have a Bumbo, you're asked to stop using it until you order and install a free repair kit, which includes a restraint belt, installation instructions, and a new warning sticker.

To order the free repair kit, visit www.recall.BumboUSA.com or call (866) 898-4999 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

The CPSC says consumers should not return the Bumbo seat to retailers as they will not be able to provide the repair kit.

Yikes! We had this for the granddaughters.
Never sat them in it anywhere except on the  floor though...never on a table or countertop.

My niece's daughter has one of these also for her little baby girl, and she's ordered the safety strap.  She's a careful new mom, and wouldn't set her daughter in the Bumbo but on the floor.  Even on the floor, I could see how there could be an injury, though.
