1) NH left with the 3 guys from C&C - no one has seen her since then

2)  The "security guard" story was almost immediately debunked by security cameras, the night shift HI guards, and also the mother who reviewed the videos

3)  The arrest of the 2 guards was totally uncalled for as the story about going back to the HI was untrue.

4)  Conclusion:  The 3 guys did something with NH

1)  why were the security guards picked up and why are they still being held?  Everyone, at this point, KNOWS the 3 never returned to the HI so there wasn't any "security guard" type guy who helped Natalee into the HI lobby.  The authorities KNEW this before they picked them up.  So what's up with that?

2)  Why weren't the last guys seen with her picked up immediately and held?  That's what MOST countries would do in a case like this.

Since no one else has any thoughts - here's the answers to the questions - ones that make sense to me anyway...

1)  The authorities began feeling pressure to do SOMETHING after about 4 or 5 days.  The media was heating up with the story and all they had was a "story" from 3 local, well connected guys.  They went and did a massive search of the hotel under renovation and found nothing.  With nothing else left to go on (except the very obvious 3 guys), they went and found the security guards who worked that hotel under renovation and picked them up.  Why they are still holding them is a total mystery to me.

2)  This one is a little tougher:  Either this is a Keystone Kops story - OR - the Aruban authorities felt they just had to do something, anything, to make it look like progress was happening.  Problem is - they neglected one of the most important rules in Investigation - The People Who were with the Victim Last Are MOST Likely the Perps.

The two guards are seen on video at the HI that evening. Some of the students had their cameras and other elctronics stolen from their rooms. The two Security guards were at the pool trying to get the girls to go looking for their cameras on the beach. The guards told them they had flash lights and would help them find their stuff. The girls turned them down. When the guards were arrested, their homes were searched and guess what the authorities found? The cameras that were stolen from the Holiday Inn. The guards were trying to coax the girls away from the hotel for what? They are not totally innocent and who knows may be guilty.

the story attributed to Deepak on the front page says that Joran and Natalee were dropped off at the Marriott....if this is correct, the map below shows that the Marriott is close to the HI. If there was truly an accident, help would have been available at the hotel..no?
