    Earthquake triggers Caribbean-wide tsunami watch

ROCKY HILL, CT (WFSB) -

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centerbriefly  issued a Caribbean-wide tsunami watch after a large earthquake struck off the coast of Costa Rica on Wednesday morning.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the magnitude 7.9 earthquake struck near Samara, Costa Rica at 8:42 a.m. local time (10:42 a.m. Eastern).

The following locations were included in the tsunami watch: Brazil, Barbados, Trinidad Tobago, French Guiana, Saint Lucia, Martinique, St Vincent, Dominica, Barbuda, Guadeloupe, Montserrat, Antigua, Saint Kitts, Anguilla, Grenada, Saint Martin, Saint Maarten, Dominican Rep, Turks N Caicos, Bonaire, Curacao, Bahamas, Venezuela, Haiti, Bermuda, Suriname, Aruba, Cuba, Guyana, Colombia, Jamaica, Grand
