Murder Suspect’s Father Releases Statement: “Devastated”
October 25, 2012 4:36 PM

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4)- Austin Sigg’s father released a statement on Thursday afternoon.

Robert Sigg released this statement by email to CBS4, “Dear Denver-area press, I am Rob Sigg, the father of Austin Sigg. I have issued this statement today.

“First, I would ask for your prayers and support for the Ridgeway family. There are no words to express the sorrow that I and my family feel for their pain they are suffering. We are devastated by the knowledge that my son, Austin Sigg, has been arrested and will be charged with the murder of their beautiful daughter Jessica. This horrible event is a tragedy for both the families, as well as the community. I ask also for your prayers and support for Austin’s mother, whose courageous act … unimaginably painful for any parent … has put this tragedy on the path to resolution. I am hopeful that as the legal process unfolds, the Ridgeway family may come to know peace.”

Classmates: Ridgeway suspect fascinated by crime-scene forensics
Posted:   10/24/2012 06:58:23 PM MDT

 ::snipping2::

When Miller presented a paper on anti-social personality disorder, Sigg seemed particularly intrigued that she used serial killer Ted Bundy as a case study. As Miller explained how Bundy had no empathy for his victims, she noticed Sigg chuckling to himself.

"He was so lit up about what I was saying," Miller recalled. "He was asking about it. He was intrigued. It was almost like he was excited about it.

"He said he was intrigued by dead bodies. There was something creepy about him."

More about Daddy Sigg:

The gospel of prosperity
Bishop Dennis Leonard has created a multimillion-dollar enterprise fed by devoted followers, some with little to spare.

Garret Leonard called that version of events "a lie from hell itself." Bates also denied telling Scott to make that request of Schultz.

Scott provided records showing Project Heritage used Schultz's line of credit for five more home sales before the relationship between the parties ended.

Next, Garret Leonard recommended a different lender: Robert Sigg, a Parker businessman and church member.

Garret Leonard said Sigg offered to set up a line of credit for Project Heritage with the understanding that Sigg would earn 1 percent profit and donate another 2 percent to Destiny Ranch.

In the Destiny Ranch articles of incorporation, Sigg is listed as a founding board member and treasurer.

At the time, Sigg was under federal indictment for his relatively minor role in a bank loan scam.

Sigg, then 39, was one of six people indicted in April 2004 in U.S. District Court in Denver involving a scheme to fraudulently obtain bank loans and lines of credit using falsified loan documents, court records show. Losses totaled more than $19 million, according to the FBI.

Sigg was paid to falsely verify the employment records of a straw buyer, the indictment alleges. Court records show he pleaded guilty in December 2004 to bank fraud and was sentenced to five years of supervised release and ordered to pay $141,163 in restitution.

Overwhelming evidence against Austin Reed Sigg - suspect in the Jessica Ridgeway case in Westminster, prosecution team says
 9:46 PM, Oct 25, 2012

WESTMINSTER - The suspect in the Jessica Ridgeway case, 17-year-old Austin Reed Sigg, appeared in court Thursday morning.

Jefferson County District Attorney Scott Storey spoke to 9NEWS and says his office intends to charge Sigg as an adult. In the courtroom during the bond argument on Thursday, prosecutors said there is overwhelming evidence - including DNA evidence - against Sigg.
 ::snipping2::
The prosecution says they plan to transfer the case to district court and eventually ask him to be transferred to the county jail, but he remains in juvenile court as of Thursday. Sigg's defense team requested to limit pre-trial publicity and a gag order. The judge did not rule on those requests Thursday morning.

The decision on what charges Sigg will face has not been made yet. He will be formally charged on Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. Until then, Sigg is on a no-bond hold.

He has public defenders.

Quote

Public defenders argued that Sigg should be released on bond, saying he has no criminal history and is a low flight risk.

Video at link.
According to the video, there is now a gag order.  No one in law enforcement can talk about the case.  LE didn't have what they needed to make an arrest.  Austin didn't raise any red flag at that time.

Austin Reed Sigg: Father of Jessica Ridgeway suspect owns home in Laveen, Arizona?
Oct 25 2012

LAVEEN, AZ - The father of the 17-year-old accused of killing 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway in Colorado reportedly owns a home in the Valley.

Records show Robert Sigg Jr. bought a home in Laveen back in 2008.

People that live in the area tell ABC15 they rarely see anyone at the home and have never seen any teens or children there.

Records also show Sigg worked for Groove Electronics in Anthem.

Sigg was listed as a member of the corporation, which is now out of business.

Community troubled by young age of suspect in Jessica Ridgeway murder

Posted on: 10:55 pm, October 25, 2012

 ::snipping2::

But the DA cannot purse the death penalty.

The U.S. Supreme Court says it’s cruel and unusual punishment for anyone under 18.

If Sigg is convicted, he’d be eligible for parole after 40 years.
