Did he get the mohawk in Juvenile Detention?  I was thinking the picture that was put out of him was his mugshot, if that's so...he didn't have a mohawk then.

That just bugs me, if he got that haircut after he was arrested seems a little "in your face" to me.  jmo

And having the nerve to look at Jessica's family too.

Overwhelming evidence against Austin Reed Sigg - suspect in the Jessica Ridgeway case in Westminster, prosecution team says
10:26 PM, Oct 25, 2012   |   13  comments

 ::snipping2::

Multiple members of Jessica's family appeared in court wearing Jessica's favorite color - purple. Sigg's family was also present in the courtroom Thursday. As soon as Sigg was brought into the courtroom - sporting a goatee and a mohawk - one of his family members started to sob.

This was Sigg's first appearance in court. His public defenders kept referring to him as a "child" during the court proceedings. The judge did not read Sigg his charges, but he did explain his rights. Sigg asked questions in regards to his legal rights, which the judge allowed Sigg's attorneys to explain to him.

The prosecution says they plan to transfer the case to district court and eventually ask him to be transferred to the county jail, but he remains in juvenile court as of Thursday.

 ::snipping2::

Sigg looked back at Jessica's family at least once during the proceedings. Jessica's family did not react to anything said in court Thursday.

 ::snipping2::

It also bothered me when he interrupted the judge. Made me think he thought the whole thing was all about him, his show to run. Surprised the judge allowed it.

Quote
He was calm throughout the proceedings, interrupting the judge once to say he had not understood part of the hearing. It was explained to him by his court-appointed attorney.

He is going to struggle internally to have control. That is part of his psychological problem.

Additionally, we learned he left the mainland of the United States shortly after an alleged attempted abduction at Ketner Lake on Memorial Day Weekend.

Sigg also faces charges related to that incident. Investigators say the teen attacked a 22-year-old female jogger. She told police a man grabbed her from behind and shoved a chemical-soaked rag over her mouth.

She was able to escape from the attacker.

After the Ketner Lake incident, Sigg and his family went on vacation in the U.S. Virgin Islands. They stayed at a luxury resort.

Ridgeway murder suspect Austin Sigg’s father no stranger to police
Posted on: 7:34 pm, October 24, 2012

<snipped>

Austin Sigg’s father, 48-year-old Robert Sigg, has a long criminal history dating back decades.

He now lives in a sprawling Parker mansion on a hilltop overlooking the city.

We have learned he is in Mexico on business. He is the owner of Performance One, a  media company in Centennial.

Robert Sigg’s trouble with the law includes a federal conviction for bank fraud in 2004.

He was also arrested for first degree burglary and assault in Jefferson County.

The rap sheet goes on: Driving under the influence in Evans, selling and distributing dangerous drugs in Weld county, as well as assault and battery in Aurora.

Denver police arrested him for obstructing, and resisting arrest and disturbing the peace.

Robert Sigg was charged as an habitual traffic offender in Thornton.

Parker police arrested him for domestic violence and driving under the influence of drugs.

<snipped>

http://kdvr.com/2012/10/24/ridgeway-murder-suspect-austin-siggs-father-no-stranger-to-police/

I contend that Austin Sigg must be held personally accountable for the murder beyond brutal of a ten year old little girl named Jessica Ridgeway.  In other words justice must prevail and society must never again be put at risk by a young man who appears to be void of a conscience.

However ... Donna Moss' understandable words of rage that focus on her Great-Granddaughter's killer must also extend outward.  When the criminal record of Austin's father is considered this young man was not raise in an environment void of negative influences.

Jessica's paternal great grandmother said that while she is saddened for Sigg's family, she is struggling to contain her anger at him.

"I think it's all I've got within me not to just want to just burn him," Donna Moss said during a press conference Wednesday in Independence, Mo. "I meant literally light him on fire. Send him to hell in a blaze of glory."

Jessica's father, Jeremiah Bryant, stood silently behind Moss as she spoke. He declined to address reporters, according to KCTV television.

Some say YouTube video of crime scene search shot by Jessica’s accused killer

Posted on: 5:54 pm, October 26, 2012, , updated on: 06:05pm, October 26, 2012

Some people were saying Friday Jessica Ridgeway’s accused killer shot a video while driving a Jeep past an area where police were conducting a search.

The video was shot the day after the 10-year-old’s body was found in a field in Arvada. The full YouTube video appears below.

It was shot by someone driving a jeep. The logo is clear on the steering wheel in the video. Sigg drove a jeep. Police towed it away from his home near 102nd Ave. and Oak St. Wednesday afternoon.

 ::snipping2::

The YouTube video was posted by someone with the handle “LostWithinBoredom,” the same one Sigg used to post other videos in the past.

The video lasts for 1:25. It was posted with this one-line statement: “Driving through the area around where the dead body was found in Arvada”

http://kdvr.com/2012/10/26/some-say-youtube-video-of-police-activity-shot-by-jessicas-accused-killer/

Thanks for posting that no rose.  Just wanted to point out that video was posted prior to identification of Jessica's remains.  He also stops taping as he turns around apparently.  I wonder if he asked the cop anything.

Blink, are you sure that video is Sigg in their Jeep?

I have studied the video and compared it to their Jeep being towed away, and am not convinced.

Their Jeep being towed away shows a sticker in driver's side windshield and something hanging from the rear view mirror. Surely that could have been taken down for the video, but I do not see a sticker on the windshield in the video.

I posted images below, showing the Jeep being towed away and two images from the video.

Brandi- I am not sure, it was posted as Sigg's by FOX, iirc, however on that channel there was a few videos I know were taken in the home, and of his sugar glide 3 legged squirrel Mia.

Although not conclusive, he has a very distinctive voice and influction/cadence and I heard that on two of the videos posted on that channel.

That said, he seemed to always have a friend around in many of his videos, so I would not discount it could have been sent to him- but to your point, no, there has been do definitive identification this is Sigg's youtube account.

This user name, over his last one, however, seems to have new sign ups at basically the same time, and then stop.

I DO want to point out the license plate that is covered in paper.  That is not to shield the plate for id purposes.

I saw a CSI tech doing field testing I recognized on it,  a Sero field test.  It will detect suspected blood

If it is covered in paper like that, I suspect it was positive.   They cannot determine whether it is animal or human in the field so I have no idea if it is relevant or not,  but I am wondering if he did not first say he accidentally hit her and the rest was cover up.

He knew DNA would come back, and he knew they were working with a sample from at least the back pack.

Was that his first attempt at explanation and Mom did further digging?

Interesting about the license plate.

I do think he was feeling boxed in, that LE was on his trail, which led to his confession to his mother.

I had read or heard in a news video that he placed the backpack where he did and some remains in that field to distract LE as to his whereabouts. That makes sense to me.

I also feel there might have been another person involved. But that's just a gut feeling at this time.

Sigg gave DNA sample, home searched right after Jessica Ridgeway disappeared
Posted on: 4:08 pm, October 26, 2012, by David Mitchell

FOX 31 Denver has learned the teenager suspected of killing Jessica Ridgeway was one of 500 people whose DNA was taken during random samples.

We have also learned that Police searched 17-year-old Austin Sigg’s house in the 10600 block of 102nd Ave. as part of the original search in the neighborhood after Jessica disappeared.

 ::snipping2::

Thanks Grace.

Austin Siggs mother may have turned him in but ... considering a DNA sample was taken at the getgo ... I assume that investigators were in the process of connecting the dots.  Think about it.  DNA was taken from Jessica's bagged remains as well as her backpack.

Prosecutors Say There Is DNA Evidence Linking Suspect to Jessica Ridgeway's Murder
Oct. 26, 2012

<snipped>

Prosecutors said that Sigg's DNA was on Ridgeway's backpack and at the crime scene in the Arvada, Colo., where her body was found Oct. 10. Lawyers also said that traces of Sigg's DNA were left at a crime scene involving a jogger who was attacked in May.

Sources tell ABC News that human remains believed to be Ridgeway's were found inside his home, which is less than a mile away from where the 10-year-old lived with her mother. Investigators have been searching for clues in Sigg's home since his arrest. Sigg shares the home with his mother, Mindy.

Blink

Could Austin Sigg's mother have seen the writing on the wall ... the writing on the wall that implied it would be beneficial for her son to confess his wrongdoing rather than waiting for authorities to knock on their door after connecting the dots encompassing the DNA evidence?

I find the May vacation to the Virgin Islands following the attack on the jogger very suspicious when you consider that May was month Mindy Sigg filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.

I know a divorced mom who filed in the spring and had some 'work' done in the early summer.  Apparently, some folks can free up cash when they file.

My source on the confession to his Mom says it was actually a confrontation based upon something she either found, or noticed missing, and she caught him in a lie.  The cross id maybe?

I know everyone is discussing how the house was searched and he provided a dna sample in the early days is a positive, and if unchallenged as a defense issue in this case, I would agree.

I am aware he attended church and the warehouse 180 group,  it is interesting to me that we have heard nothing from his pastor and any spiritual staff- considering the cross was such a focus and some friends have come forward with what appears to be deep spiritual affiliation.

In an attempted cover up?  In other words ... the DNA evidence that would lead back to Austin was not an initial consideration.

Could it be that the placing of bagged remains in the open space and the placing of the backpack in another neighborhood took place following the accidental discovery of Jessica's dismembered remains in the crawl space of the Sigg's residence.  Think about it.  A dead body does emit an extremely foul order?

Report: Jessica Ridgeway Murder Suspect Confessed to Keeping Remains in Crawl Space
Posted on: 6:12 pm, October 24, 2012

<snipped>

Sigg reportedly waived his rights and told investigators that human remains could be found inside a crawl space under the home where he was arrested.

Sigg is charged with the first-degree murder and kidnapping of Ridgeway, whose dismembered body was found five days after she disappeared.

KDVR in Denver reports that Sigg wanted to be a mortician.

Sigg’s mother, Mindy Sigg, told the Associated Press that she called police and alerted them to her son’s involvement in Ridgeway’s murder.

“I made the phone call, and he turned himself in. That’s all I have to say,” she said before she broke down in tears and hung up the phone.

DNA remnants!!!  Could the actual disembered remains of little Jessica have been placed in the garbage bag and taken to the open space for disposal?

It appears that the wannabe mortitian did his thing in the crawl space of his own home.  Was he busted by a foul odor?

Police: Suspect in Jessica Ridgeway murder is 17-year-old boy

On Wednesday afternoon, much of Sigg's neighborhood was cordoned off with police tape. While news helicopters circled overhead, investigators took a brown Jeep Grand Cherokee with a NASA decal on the back windshield away from his home at 10622 W. 102nd Ave. They pored over a construction trash bin across the street and could be seen working in the backyard.

Investigators told The Post that they found "DNA remnants" in the crawl space of the home.

Sigg looked back at Jessica's family at least once during the proceedings. Jessica's family did not react to anything said in court Thursday.

texas mom- as usual we are on the same page - the mohawk really bothered me because he had to get it in the juvenile detention center..  I presume that means he had access and was in the general population.

If not, prior to court but post mug shot ( I thought that was weird because he had his necklace on and in general that would have been removed from his possession and a mandatory suicide watch) he was allowed some sort of court grooming appt that did not include clothing for court.

So his lawyers are calling him a child, they plan to seek relief to keep him in juvenile court ( they have to) but he shows up looking like a thug on purpose?

Mental Defense, all the way.

Did anyone read the Stig Larson trilogy?  Lizbeth Salander scene where she preps for court and shows up in chains, goth makeup and a mohawk.

Exactly!

Oct. 26, 2012

<snipped>

Janet

I don't think Sigg was in LE sights whatsoever until his Mom's phone call.  I don't believe she told Austin she was calling LE, and did not until they arrived.   There were 2 handguns and 2 rifles in the home we know of, and Austin allegedly had a serious sword and knife collection.  I have to believe with his ongoing and recurring mental issues,  she she would be concerned for everyone's safety at that point.

If he had told her about the body parts that day/night at the house,  I believe LE would have secured a warrant immediately.  As I understand it, Sigg did not provide the full details ( his version) until sometime around 3Am, at WPD.

WRT the bktcy filing,  I wrote that I was suspect on the filing date because it contains several notifications of creditors, but NOT an amount of debt for them, all of which are either Atty General,  State Atty, etc.  Another oddity is the VA hospital.

I can find no record of military service for his parents so not sure how that debt was incurred.

Overall, given his years of clear and present mental issues,  and the severity of them, I am really anxious to learn the facts about that- psycopathy is to a degree, hereditary (HARE) and I see a possible apples and trees scenario with Dad- just a different manifestation.

It would also be a standard question LE would ask her PRIOR to arrival and again upon arrival to insure safety.
