DA: DNA of Austin Sigg, suspect in Jessica Ridgeway murder, found on backpack

 ::snipping2::

Sigg, described in arrest papers as "cooperative," is at the Mount View Youth Services Center in Lakewood, which houses juveniles charged with crimes. He is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder, felony murder and kidnapping in Jessica's case, and with criminal attempt to kidnap and murder in an attack on a jogger at Ketner Lake.

Prosecutors will ask that he be transferred to county jail.

Prosecutors said Thursday their case is bolstered by the teen's confession and by the fact his DNA matches material found on Jessica's backpack.

There was high security in the courtroom, with 14 law enforcement officers guarding the suspect. Sigg's younger brother collapsed against his mother in tears as his heavily shackled brother was led into a courtroom. Other Sigg family members were apparently turned away by the court.

Okay, that's scary.  He will eventually be released.

I am seeing the signs of a mounting mental defense as we speak.  Something is nagging me in this case, and I would not be surprised to hear another arrest.

They do not know yet where he dismembered her.  That is a problem.

So, are the parents together?  That mansion referred to as belonging to the father doesn't look like its in the same neighborhood as the reports were seeing about the home being searched.

I'm with you, Blink.  There's something else gonna come out of this.  No way was he able to dismember her body without there being a huge crime scene.  I wonder if the family owns a storage unit or maybe daddy has some empty office space somewhere?

Ridgeway murder suspect Austin Sigg’s father no stranger to police
Posted on: 7:34 pm, October 24, 2012

Austin Sigg’s father, 48-year-old Robert Sigg, has a long criminal history dating back decades.

He now lives in a sprawling Parker mansion on a hilltop overlooking the city.

We have learned he is in Mexico on business. He is the owner of Performance One, a  media company in Centennial.
 ::snipping2::

hmm...Mexico has a history of no extradition in death penalty cases.

Hmmm....

Kitty, the parents have been divorced since 2001 and have lived apart during that time.  Blink's article has more information on that.

I have said it from the beginning this case will shock people and  that this kid has pornography addictions that escalated and I believe you'll find that he was led not just by his addictions, but that others watched.

Here are some of the quotes re: bullying of Austin Sigg incl. from two girls that bullied him #jessicaridgeway pic.twitter.com/DBHmhRQk

Link to twitter "bully" comments: http://twitter.com/mattflener/status/261256411755982850/photo/1

Short stature, high pitched voice... he could have growth hormone deficiencies brought on by a brain tumor which can also cause pallor (he has very pale skin) and depressed or violent tendencies depending on its' placement in the brain and if left untreated.

If this is the case it is unlikely Jessica was sexually molested as GHD also leads to shrunken testes and micropenis with delayed sexual maturation.  Growth abnormalities are usually caught at an early age by parents or doctors.

There is treatment but ideally it's given at an early age and it is expensive.

I sometimes theorise that evil is in some cases a manifestation of a brain abnormality that, when caught at a young age, can be prevented.  If left untreated and combined with environmental dysfunction (bullying, neglect, abuse, hatred, belittled, etc...) the brain patterns and internal processes become a dark and twisted labyrinth.

I am NOT offering any excuses for his behavior and I do not believe he should ever be free however if he's willing to let medical science study his brain and thought processes...

Impressive analysis.

Several members of Ridgeway's familly were in court, including her mother and aunt. The Ridgeway family was dressed in purple, Jessica's favorite color. Sigg's mother was also in the courtroom.

Looks like someone spent yesterday cleaning up.

http://apps.douglas.co.us/apps/assessor/search/parcelSimpleSearch.do
I looked up "Siggs' & 'Performance One Media' and didn't get any hits.  Doesn't mean there's not some empty space out there somewhere.

According to court papers, Sigg's mother Mindy filed for bankruptcy in May of 2012. She reported that she was a single mother who lives with her two sons, ages 14 and 17, and received $2,000 a month in child support. She is employed as a tech at Complete Eye Care, according to the papers. In the papers, Sigg reported that she owned a .9 mm Glock, a 380 Taurus Pistol, and three rifles. It is unclear if the weapons were used by Sigg to lure Ridgeway into his car.

Portion of the transcript from last night's Nancy Grace show:

Quote
MONA, CALLER FROM ARIZONA: Nancy, earlier I`ve been watching this as it broke news today. They -- one of the neighbors mentioned that the mother had a boyfriend that moved out about a month ago. I want to know who this boyfriend is, where he works. Was he in a mortuary? What influence he had on this boy?

GRACE: You know, I`d like to know that, too, Mona in Arizona. But I will tell you right now regardless if he had a bad influence on him, if they played these crazy games together -- I`m going to go to you on that very quickly, Matt Zarrell. Unless he took part in this crime he`s not going to be charged.

http://edition.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1210/24/ng.01.html

I would like to know more about the mom's boyfriend, his relationship with Austin, and when the last time they saw eachother was.

That's a significant gun collection for a lady.

I'm still shocked that she took her younger son to the elder boy's hearing today.  It helps paint a picture of her parenting style in my mind.

Westminster police arrest 17-year-old Austin Sigg in Jessica Ridgeway abduction, murder case
Posted: 6:12 AM (October 25, 2012)

 ::snipping2::
Crime scene investigators descended on his home Wednesday afternoon and towed away a bronze Jeep. They erected two white tents in his driveway where they were putting items of evidence they were pulling from his home. They put up police tape all around his home and AirTracker7 video shows investigators going through the back yard.

The neighborhood around Sigg's home at 10622 W. 102nd Ave.  will be closed off to everyone but residents living in that area for the next several days, Westminster police said.

Sigg has lived in this home since he was an infant.

His father -- who divorced his mother in 2000 -- still owns a home in Parker. CALL7 Investigators have confirmed that deputies, along with several FBI agents, are also searching that home on Wednesday.
