Brandi- best I can tell it could be both inside and outside,  in your pic you can see the "warped" area from the side in contrast to the factory tints on the other windows.  As is protocol, all openings are sealed for transfer.  If the blue sticker on the bottom left is for the property inventory tag or scan,  we know the paper is at least on the outside.  I am inclined to think the use of black paper vs, the standard (ups wrap I call it) means whatever was detected in the field is subject to light interference or degradation.

I could be wrong, but I do not think they would process the inside of this vehicle at all until it was in the evidence bay- that could be based on the suspect statement a death occurred there, and if so, definitely not opened at the scene.

I think the sticker on the back is a NASA sticker; saw quite a few articles reference it, although they could be wrong.

Could also be a sticker the forensics crew added. Not the first time the news accounts have been wrong.

Definitely looks like black paper/film on the rear window and the back side window to me.

So sad to think about what probably happened in that vehicle.

Thanks for sharing your info with us, Blink.

Here's the deal..no matter the reasoning..no matter the babble we put behind it..scientific or otherwise..this child-man is broken goods.  Be it his heredity, his upbringing and family issues, or our society.  Probably more a result of all those rather then just one..needless to say.  Sometimes we can't name the evil or combat it for future reference..meaning it is a perfect storm of all those factors and unpredictable.  Sometimes evil is not as explainable as we would like.  I am very cautious on anything he or his family has to say..most people in his frame of reference prove to be very manipulative of family, friends and LE..they have secured that dark area of themselves by doing so.

I still believe there is a connection to hard porn and violence..notice I said I believe.  Studys done over the years have proved that point to exist.  Yet I know there is someone out there ready to say they watched hard porn as a young teen, even the hard porn combined with real snuff films that came out in the 70's and 80's and they are totally sane now..okay then.

But what made this person escalate is more then likely a perfect storm of many factors..that as parents and society are out of our control.  His family obviously tried to get him some sort of help earlier..was it the right help, who knows..I have always thought that the brain was our last frontier..not outer space, our inner space..that very inclusive inner space that makes us who we are..that is our final frontier and alas our final destination.  Many people raised in similiar circumstanes have chosen to take different paths then those that end up as felons..the jail house is a testimony to the fact that our society raises the good, the bad and the ugly and yet..some turn our as super stars in their own right ..while others have a bent to the more obtuse.

So can we blame bad parenting, a broken marriage, and liking porn to a savage murder and dismemberment..not so much.  Can we say those are contributing factors..yes.  However there are some missing keys here..possibly a missing cohort, definitely a missing crime scene of the dismemberment (atleast to our knowledge at present)..I mean that's alot of blood and gore that had to happen somewhere other then the care for is Mom not to know at the getgo.

Do I think he is guilty yes..do I blame anyone other then him..possibly ..I think there may have been an accomplice atleast in the respect of an area to inhabit the dismemberment and as an audience.  His parents..his pastor, his counselors, ..no I don't think any of them could have stopped this perfect storm..sometimes evil is just what iti is..not understand  nor accountable to any one factor..just plain evil.

Dang Gypsy- true dat and then some.  Well said.

I recently read what is considered the work of psycopathy pioneer Robert Hare, PHD

To your point, as infants, if attachment deficient issues are present for an extended period, it seems to be the baseline for being dealt a bad hand ( hereditary excluded in this comment) and his ability to relate to the criminal aspects of this profile were worth the read-

Enigmatic portrait of Jessica Ridgeway suspect's family emerges
Posted:   10/28/2012 12:01:00 AM MDT

 ::snipping2::
Shocked and disturbed neighbors, along with acquaintances and public records, sketch an enigmatic portrait of the family: a teenager described as friendly and brilliant yet also egotistical and sometimes bullying; a single mother who has struggled financially to raise two sons after a divorce; and a father with a long and troubled legal history.

"He was a respectful kid"

Naomi Fox watched Austin Sigg grow up from just a few houses away. Her son took karate classes with Sigg, and the two remained friends into their teenage years. Like other neighbors, Fox found Sigg the type of kid who would stop and chat in the driveway.

"He was wonderful. He was a respectful kid," she said. "People have said he's antisocial. That's not the person I know. We were all shocked and horrified."

Neighbor Bill Garone said he rarely saw Sigg but knew his mother, Mindy. He called Wednesday's news of her older son's arrest "mind-boggling."

"We'd seen the Sigg boys down here," Garone said. "They were very nice, very polite."

Austin Sigg, who left high school, earned his GED and was enrolled at Arapahoe Community College, had a fascination with crime-scene forensics and planned to study mortuary science, classmates said.

Meanwhile, Mindy Sigg appeared to run into tough economic times.

In a bankruptcy filing in May, she listed income of $2,000 per month in child support coupled with about $2,200 in take-home pay from her job as a technician at an eye-care clinic. Among her debts are $14,070 in student loans and more than $19,000 in credit-card bills.

She had a motor home repossessed last December and sold a personal watercraft on Craigslist last spring — measures that hint at the family's more prosperous times.

Neighbors recalled that when Mindy and Rob Sigg first moved onto the block in 1996, they renovated the entire house — even adding a swimming pool, a rare feature on the middle-class street that includes families who have lived there for 30 years.

Back then, Mindy Sigg was a stay-at-home mom and a bit more social, making frequent appearances at community potlucks and gatherings, they said.

After the Siggs divorced in 2000, Mindy went back to work and then back to school to become certified as a technician, licensing records show.

She stopped attending the potlucks in recent years, but she still made time for her children.

"They went camping or to the lake in Wyoming," said Fox. "She was a loving parent. I think their immediate neighbors will all rally around (Mindy Sigg and her youngest son). People outside might think they must be horrible people, too. That's not the case."

Police strategy may have spurred mom of suspect Austin Sigg to call

POSTED:   10/28/2012 12:01:00 AM MDT
UPDATED:   10/28/2012 12:57:29 AM MDTBy Jeremy P. Meyer, Sadie Gurman and Jessica Fender
The Denver Post

Westminster police used every investigative tool to find a suspect in the Oct. 5 abduction and slaying of 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway — watching video surveillance, combing through hundreds of license-plate numbers, following thousands of tips and collecting hundreds of DNA samples.

The investigation prompted one of the largest criminal searches in Colorado history, with more than 1,000 law enforcers from 40 agencies deploying everything from high-tech forensic science to neighborhood canvassing.

Yet it was a phone call from Mindy Sigg that led police to arrest her 17-year-old son, Austin.

That call came a day after authorities announced a definitive link between Jessica's death and the May 28 attempted abduction of a jogger — information police had known for more than a week, a source close to the investigation told The Denver Post.

Authorities, citing a judge's gag order, will not discuss the case with the media, and they have not disclosed what exactly led the mother to call Westminster police about her son.

Veteran investigators say police often release information strategically to flush out killers.

"Whenever you are talking to the media and giving stuff to the media, you have to think that you are also talking directly to the killer," said Gregg McCrary, a former FBI profiler from Virginia, who has not had any involvement in this case. "You want to put out things that the people around the killer would know."

In another example of that type of strategic release of information, police waited until Oct. 19 to reveal they had found the 1½ -inch cross with etched marks that they said "could become a pivotal piece of evidence that helps authorities identify and locate Jessica's killer."

Law enforcement sources told The Post that investigators discovered a wooden cross with Jessica's dismembered body shortly after it was found Oct. 10 near a culvert in Pattridge Park Open Space.

Photos of the cross accompanied a news release and were posted on the department's Facebook page, which became a useful tool for police to break news to the public.

Where and when the cross was found and how it was connected to the killer were not revealed.

Westminster Investigator Trevor Materasso said later that police saw a spike in tips after the release, but most were fixated on the cross style and not the distinct markings.

"We really want people to look at the markings," he said.

 ::snipping2::

Even Austin Sigg was questioned by police, according to 9News, which reported that he let them in the house to look for the girl.

Clark Bechtel, a park ranger and retired Marine who lives across from the Siggs, said that around Oct. 15, FBI agents began knocking on doors, interviewing residents and asking them about their neighbors.

An agent called Bechtel's employer to check up on him and cross him off their list.

"They were walking up and down the street, gathering lists of people like myself, peeking in backyards and cars," Bechtel said. "You just felt a blanket."

Last summer, their cat Chewie disappeared. They later found him cut in half along the footpath that runs behind their house. There's no telling what happened to the beloved family pet, but it's the type of incident that leapt to mind when they heard Jessica had been dismembered.

Bechtel told police about it.

Siggs house with cooler on back porch

Not sure if you can all see it in the last image Kermee posted, but to the left of the cooler is a uniformed officer stationed next to that cooler.

I reported the cooler in my piece from a source, the source was not able to confirm if the remains found were found directly in the cooler in the "crawlspace"  (which I am told but cannot confirm is an access point that was covered with a pile of sticks originally) or if they were placed there after the fact ( as in, he accessed them again, or other)

But what I also wanted to point out is that the Jeep Grand Cherokee ( I believe it is circa 2000- I owned  one around this time) has some sort of black paper wrapped around the rear window- which in this model is capable of being opened independently of the actual door.  You can see that it just covers the window itself, because it is over top the rear windshield wiper.

Again, for this to be done prior to impound I have to believe it field tested for something they needed to preserve for ALS or trace.

Here's another look at the cooler and the officer.

Kinda freezes my shorts that they missed something important if they were going to take the time to line-item her bktcy.

She was a nail tech at the time from Aurora.  House was purchased in her name only.  Someone had foresight and/or knowledge of Robert Sigg's past.

Brandi

Considering a cooler has never been mentioned in any of the online publications posted ... mentioned in regards to remains being taken from the crawl space of the Sigg's residence ... could it be that the cooler in the image is being utilized by investigators for the storage the DNA evidence?

On Wednesday afternoon, much of Sigg's neighborhood was cordoned off with police tape. While news helicopters circled overhead, investigators took a brown Jeep Grand Cherokee with a NASA decal on the back windshield away from his home at 10622 W. 102nd Ave. They pored over a construction trash bin across the street and could be seen working in the backyard.

Investigators told The Post that they found "DNA remnants" in the crawl space of the home.

Prosecutors Say There Is DNA Evidence Linking Suspect to Jessica Ridgeway's Murder
Oct. 26, 2012

Prosecutors said that Sigg's DNA was on Ridgeway's backpack and at the crime scene in the Arvada, Colo., where her body was found Oct. 10. Lawyers also said that traces of Sigg's DNA were left at a crime scene involving a jogger who was attacked in May.

Sources tell ABC News that human remains believed to be Ridgeway's were found inside his home, which is less than a mile away from where the 10-year-old lived with her mother. Investigators have been searching for clues in Sigg's home since his arrest. Sigg shares the home with his mother, Mindy.

Report: Jessica Ridgeway Murder Suspect Confessed to Keeping Remains in Crawl Space
Posted on: 6:12 pm, October 24, 2012

<snipped>

According to CBS4 in Denver, Sigg told police he strangled Ridgeway after he got her into his vehicle on Oct. 5 — although Westminster police have not released this information.

Sigg reportedly waived his rights and told investigators that human remains could be found inside a crawl space under the home where he was arrested.

Sigg is charged with the first-degree murder and kidnapping of Ridgeway, whose dismembered body was found five days after she disappeared.

KDVR in Denver reports that Sigg wanted to be a mortician.

Sigg’s mother, Mindy Sigg, told the Associated Press that she called police and alerted them to her son’s involvement in Ridgeway’s murder.

“I made the phone call, and he turned himself in. That’s all I have to say,” she said before she broke down in tears and hung up the phone.

Exclusive: Ridgeway murder suspect Austin Sigg treated for pornography addiction

Additionally, we learned he left the mainland of the United States shortly after an alleged attempted abduction at Ketner Lake on Memorial Day Weekend.

Sigg also faces charges related to that incident. Investigators say the teen attacked a 22-year-old female jogger. She told police a man grabbed her from behind and shoved a chemical-soaked rag over her mouth.

She was able to escape from the attacker.

After the Ketner Lake incident, Sigg and his family went on vacation in the U.S. Virgin Islands. They stayed at a luxury resort.

Robert Sigg’s ex-wife, Austin Sigg’s mother Mindy Sigg, lives in a Westminster home with their son. She also had money problems. In May, court documents show Mindy Sigg filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Austin Sigg’s parents were divorced 12 years ago.

I expect those are the twigs that were mentioned in an article that covered the entrance to the crawl space.
It is so sad and eerie to think that some of Jessica's remains are likely in that cooler.

Brandi

Considering a cooler has never been mentioned in any of the online publications posted ... mentioned in regards to remains being taken from the crawl space of the Sigg's residence ... could it be that the cooler in the image is being utilized by investigators for the storage the DNA evidence?

Police: Suspect in Jessica Ridgeway murder is 17-year-old boy

On Wednesday afternoon, much of Sigg's neighborhood was cordoned off with police tape. While news helicopters circled overhead, investigators took a brown Jeep Grand Cherokee with a NASA decal on the back windshield away from his home at 10622 W. 102nd Ave. They pored over a construction trash bin across the street and could be seen working in the backyard.

Investigators told The Post that they found "DNA remnants" in the crawl space of the home.

Prosecutors Say There Is DNA Evidence Linking Suspect to Jessica Ridgeway's Murder
Oct. 26, 2012

<snipped>

<snipped>

This is the only thing I have been able to find about a cooler being involved:

CSI investigators first entered the home with cameras and then started carrying boxes and bins inside, likely for gathering evidence.

Kinda freezes my shorts that they missed something important if they were going to take the time to line-item her bktcy.

She was a nail tech at the time from Aurora.  House was purchased in her name only.  Someone had foresight and/or knowledge of Robert Sigg's past.

Blink I think you are raising some good questions.

Robert Sigg most-likely had bad credit when they purchased the home. And he doesn't seem to have been a rich guy at the time they married. They purchased that house year of birth of Austin.
But even with that said, she was divorced and paying mortgage on her own for years. Why did she file bankruptcy?
She could have flipped her 19,000 debt into debt settlement and then paid off the student loans over time. Doesn't make sense
Considering she was paying on-her-own for years. Her income is enough to have gotten a refi.

Something about MAY changed things.

Income  =  $4,200.00
Plus sales of watercraft (maybe a loss b/c she sold to pay off a loan on it)

Debts of 33,070.00

 10622 W. 102nd Ave, Westminster, CO
Home Value estimate $247,677
Estimated Mortgage $871.00
3 bedroom 2 1/2 bathrooms
2096 sq feet
approx $121.00 month taxes
Originally purchased the home in 1996 for $131,600
http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/10622-W-102nd-Ave-Westminster-CO-80021/13686463_zpid/

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=10622%20W%20102nd%20Ave%20WESTMINSTER,%20CO%2080021&layer=c&cbll=39.880968,-105.118736&cbp=12,0,0,0,0
street view map

So with income of 4, 200.00
minus mortgage, taxes, insurance, she still would have $3,108.00 per month for credit card payments and school loans.

It doesn't add up.

And as Janet pointed out

She files bankruptcy in MAY
and takes off to Virgin Islands ON VACATION.

Blink,
have you found any other men she was involved with?
