The FBI did not release any more information in a press release on Sunday evening, saying only that further details will be made available in the coming days by the Park County and Prosecuting Attorney's Office in Cody, Wyoming.

A man with Speer's date of birth is listed as living in Bozeman, Mont.. but with a post office box in Manhattan, Mont. He also has previous addresses in Colorado, including Divide, where he had a photography business. He has no apparent criminal record.

Without giving details, Rockvam said law enforcement officials at Yellowstone National Park were able to provide a license plate number for a vehicle, which led to the arrest.

Cody girl bloodied abductor’s nose

A man who was among the hunters who found an 11-year-old girl abducted from Cody on Monday evening considers it nothing short of a miracle.

“The Lord put us there at that time for a reason,” Shane Larsen of Cody said
It was dark, about 30 degrees and four miles from the nearest house when Larsen and his party found the girl, walking in the barrow pit along the road, dressed only in light clothing.

Those conditions could have later proven fatal to her.

“For him (the abductor) to do that to her. To just leave her up there on the side of that mountain and expect her to hike out of there – I can’t even imagine,” Larsen said.

A open blog post from his ex wife:

Jesse Speer
Posted on October 15, 2012 by maleesha

My blog is getting thousands of hits now so I thought I better come make a statement.

- I am brokenhearted for the girl in Cody Wyoming and I am so, so, thankful that it’s hunting season and that she was found safely.  May you get the help and support that you need.  I am so devastated and sorry that this has happened to you.  You did not deserve it, and I am so proud of you for being a fighter, fighting him off and surviving.  You are amazing.  You may have saved many more lives.  Take this strength that you find and turn it into an inner peace or power and not hatred.  He is not worth it.

- May your parents also find strength through your amazing soul.

- I am not married to Jesse Speer any longer.  I was with him between 2003-2009.  I have full custody of our kids now.

-There are OLD websites out there where Jesse and I have collaborated, along with others.  Please do not drag other people’s names into this on pure speculation.

- I did help Jesse edit his new Autumn book.  We were cordial to each other until a few months ago when he just stopped talking to me.

- The FBI is talking to all of us and doing their job.  PLEASE LET THEM.  I don’t want anything to screw up this case.

- People are finding photos of my from Twitter and other sites before I could take them down, and re-posting them other places.  Fine, do what you feel you gotta do, but I wish you would knock it off.

- My main job now is to protect my children and keep them from hearing about the alleged crimes before they are ready.  They are both great kids and love their dad very much.  They do not know where he is now and it is very scary for them.  I have to find out how this is done.  It’s a nightmare to wake up with your life changed like this.   I have talked with his family, his girlfriend, and some mutual friends.  We are all in shock, hoping they have the wrong person but afraid that they do not.  Our pain does not compare to the victim’s pain, but it is there nonetheless and it’s miserable.  If he has done this, he has hurt an awful lot of people.

I cannot answer the thousands of questions out there that I know some of you have.  Above all I am sorry to be connected to someone who may have done this.

I do ask for privacy for my kids and my family.

Speer makes initial appearance in Wyoming court
Posted: Oct 19, 2012 12:35 PM

Bond remains at $2 million cash only for Jesse Paul Speer of Manhattan, accused of kidnapping and assaulting an 11-year-old girl in Cody, Wyoming.

Speer, 39, appeared before Circuit Court Judge Bruce Waters in Park County, Wyoming on Friday morning.

Speer said that he understands the charges against him, which include kidnapping, aggravated assault, and use of a firearm.

The judge said that Speer's bond will remain at $2 million cash only.

Speer showed no emotion as he was brought into the courtroom, and did not ask the judge any questions during the brief hearing.

Attorneys noted that Speer has no ties to the Cody community.

If he does post bail, he is to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18 without approval and must wear a GPS ankle monitor at all times.

A preliminary hearing has been set for October 26.

Speer was represented by a public defender during Friday's court appearance.

On Wednesday, Speer was extradited to Wyoming after he was apprehended in Belgrade over the weekend and held in Gallatin County without bond.

Cody Police Chief Perry Rockvam said on Monday that Speer could face more charges  ::snipping2::

Alleged kidnapper of Cody girl held on $2 million cash-only bond
October 22, 2012

The Montana photographer accused of kidnapping an 11-year-old Cody girl Oct. 8 is being held in the Park County jail on a $2 million cash-only bond.
Jesse Paul Speer, 39, was advised of the charges against him – kidnapping, aggravated assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony – during his first appearance in a Wyoming courtroom Friday.
Circuit Judge Bruce Waters accepted the state’s recommendation for a $2 million cash-only bond, stating it seemed appropriate under the circumstances.
“The charges against him involve some of the most dangerous conduct imaginable,” Park County Attorney Bryan Skoric said.
Giving a brief synopsis of the alleged crime, Skoric said Speer is accused of kidnapping a young girl at gunpoint near the library about 4 p.m. Oct. 8 and then dropping her off in a “desolate county area in near hypothermic conditions.”
She was found about four hours later, several miles up the Carter Mountain Access Road outside of town in grizzly territory by a party of hunters.
Speer’s court appointed public defender Travis Smith conceded the nature of the allegations are serious, but pointed to Speer’s willingness to comply with extradition and face charges in Wyoming as a reason to set a lower bond.
“My client waived his right to contest extradition at the earliest possible opportunity,” Smith said, referring to a Monday hearing in Gallatin County, Mont. two days after Speer was arrested in Belgrade.
Speer was moved to the Park County jail late Wednesday.
