Went to the lake today and cruised around. The edges of the ice are pulling away pretty good. The wind was breezing hard enough to sway the pines. It was 62 degrees up on the dam. The ice should be off of the lake in another week to 10 days.

Find Missing Dylan Redwine

Good Evening Warriors!

I know that it's been awhile since I have been able to post. I apologize. I do check the page every day and appreciate that you all continue to pray, share and care.

Spring is now in full swing here in the Valley and the ice is beginning to pull away from the edges of the lake. I was at the lake last Sunday and took pictures, and then returned again today to see how things were moving along. There is a marked difference. We expect the ice to be off the lake by mid April hopefully.

For those that are new to the page, we are planning on doing a thorough search of the lake. We have done some extensive research and some highly recommended professionals coming in to assist us with that. Because Dylan went missing at the lake and there was some initial indication he went fishing, we want to eliminate the lake once and for all. We appreciate everyone that is assisting us with this endeavor. We can never repay the kindness and generosity that has been shown since day one, way back on November 19th.

We have also been very busy with maintaining awareness and exploring all the other options of Dylan's where abouts. Because we don't know where he is, we have to keep looking EVERYWHERE! That is why each and every one of you that make up TEAM DYLAN are so very important to us. It's because of you that so many millions of people world wide know Dylan's face and story. Please continue to share, care, pray and KEEP THE FAITH!

PRAY ON PRAYER WARRIORS! Let's move those mountains!

Love and light,
Katt

Jessica Herrera Martinez It's going FAST! Today was a little overcast (rain/snow for a bit), but the rest of the week's weather looks WARM! The way this is going, I wouldn't be surprised if the ice is gone (or darn near close to being gone) by week's end (maybe sooner).

You're welcome!

ITA, it's been too long, he should be home!  He should be getting ready to play some baseball!

WHERE IS HE?

I truly hope the lake is not the answer, but until he's home there will always be that doubt so they have to clear it.

I can't imagine having to go through that looking for my baby.

I'm praying that God will give Dylan's loved ones the strength and courage to get through it.

It's just so sad.

Spring thaw renews search for Dylan Redwine
April 06, 2013 6:00 AM

GARRISON WELLS
The Gazette

With the fragile beginnings of a thaw along the edges of Vallecito Lake, the search for Dylan Redwine — the Monument boy who disappeared from his father’s house Nov. 19 — is heating up.

This spring, once the lake sheds the ice, it’s the new focus, said Denise Hess, lead organizer of volunteers searching for Dylan.

“The whole idea here is that one of three things is going to happen: We’re going to find Dylan. We may find somebody else and another family has closure, or there’s nothing in the lake and we can eliminate it altogether and focus on somewhere else,” Hess said.

The earliest the lake is expected to thaw enough for searchers would be mid-April, she said.

A lot has happened during a cold and brutal winter in the high country of southwest Colorado where Dylan disappeared.

 ::snipping2::

Searchers have come and gone. Investigators have turned up few leads. The few they received have been fruitless.

Dan Bender, spokesman for the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office, said investigators continued to follow leads over the winter, in some cases searching under bridges and snowshoeing up to cabins.

Spring brings hope.

The organization Hess heads, “Find Missing Dylan Redwine,” is trying to raise money to hire teams that specialize in deep water searches.

Several have been contacted, and a couple have told Hess they won’t charge for the search, but their expenses such as lodging and travel need to be paid.

“These people know water, they know how it acts and they have made many, many water recoveries,” Hess said.

The lake has been searched by a search and rescue team from the New Mexico State Patrol. That team included dogs, divers, several boats and sonar.

But there were complications. Because of the lake’s depth — averaging 30 to 40 feet, the altitude of the lake and temperature of the water, divers could stay down only 20 minutes a day, Bender said.

The dogs, however, alerted to human scents at a few spots in the lake, which the divers searched.

“There was nothing suspicious found,” he said. “Having said that, it’s almost 12 miles around the lake. It’s very large and that’s not to say there isn’t a chance that Dylan could be in the lake. But we checked it as thoroughly as we could at that time.”

Technology may be the difference maker.

“No offense to the sheriff’s office, the divers are great, but these people are trained specifically for this and we feel there is a big difference,” she said.

The specialists who’ve been contacted use 180-degree sonar on a cable that can be dropped into the water as long as necessary.

If the sonar detects something, a remotely operated underwater vehicle will be used for additional investigation. An ROV is operated remotely by a person on a boat. They are commonly used by deepwater industries.

The areas of the lake that will be searched include the deepest spots along the dam and along the eastern shoreline, Hess said.

The lake “needs to be eliminated one way or another. The cadaver dogs hit on something,” Hess said. “What did you hit on? We don’t know.”

KUSA - More than 100 people came out to "Run the Ridges" Saturday for a 5K race in memory of Jessica Ridgeway.

The run was made possible thanks to the efforts of a 9-year-old boy. It took Trevor Long just six months to organize the event.

Runners wore "Run the Ridges" shirts and purple ribbons-- Jessica's favorite color-- all in honor of the young girl who was kidnapped and killed in 2012.

The money raised benefits the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Renewed search for missing teen Dylan Redwine
8:53 PM, Apr 7, 2013

DENVER - Volunteers will renew their efforts to find a missing teenage boy from Monument once the snow and ice melt in southwest Colorado.

Dylan Redwine, 14, disappeared in November 2012 from his father's home in Vallecito, which is about 25 minutes east of Durango.

Federal and local investigators continue to search for the boy, but so far they've found nothing.

At the same time, a group of concerned citizens have also launched their own search.

They've gone as far as to bring additional cadaver dogs to search Vallecito Lake for any new clues.

"The lake just seems to be holding us up because that's where [Dylan] went missing from," said Denise Hess, who helps manage the Find Missing Dylan Redwine Facebook page.

Hess and others believe there's something in Vallecito Lake. Whether it's Dylan, they just don't know. What they do know is once the snow and ice thaw they'll be able to go back out there again with more trained teams to search the water.

"We just wanted to hit that area really hard and make sure we didn't miss anything in the fall and to cover the lake again," Hess said.

Find Missing Dylan Redwine

Good Evening Warriors!

Yes I know it's been a long time. My apologies once again. Sometimes the efforts behind the scenes takes more energy than we have to go around, but you all are very important to us!

As most of you know the ice is now officially off of the lake. This happened earlier this week. We were able to get a boat on the water today and we want to thank Stan, owner of Doc's Marina for his time, his boat and even the gas to get us around the lake.

We motored the entire way around the southwest shore, the dam and the whole eastern shore from south to north. Thank God we found nothing. While we are always hoping for a clue to point us in the right direction, I am glad we didn't find it today at the lake.

We are still planning on doing a more thorough search of lake. We feel it's absolutely necessary to eliminate the lake once and for all. As soon as we confirmed the ice was off of the lake we began contacting some of the search and recovery teams that we spoke with over the winter months. We are on everyone's list. That means that they are very busy helping other families in other locals around the nation and as soon as one of the teams is free they will be able to travel to Vallecito to assist us. Right now it's looking like it will be mid May at the earliest.

In the meantime, we have several fundraisers in the works and would be grateful for in help with those. We will post as soon as we have more details. We are planning a family friendly run/walk on the east side of lake on Memorial Day weekend so please stay tuned for that, there is rumor of a pancake breakfast and possibly a cribbage tournament as well.

As always we are eternally grateful to each and everyone of you for your continued support. Without all of you Dylan may still be just a local boy that has gone missing. You all have embraced him and his family into your hearts. You have loved him and cared about him as much as we do and through your sharing, caring a praying brought him to the World! Thank you doesn't even begin to cover it!

Standing in FAITH~ Never give up.

Love and light,
Katt

Does anyone know if Mark Redwine would be required to continue his child support payments to Elaine? Dylan has not been found, my guess is that until Dylan surfaces, he would still be required to pay. Elaine should ask her Divorce Attorney about that.

Mark has only given Elaine one check for child support, post dated for the day Dylan disappeared, (that's weird) so I'm wondering if he's paid her for December, January and February? March is coming up. I think this is something she should check into. I'd make that ass hole pay me every dime, forcefully if needed, by the Court. Maybe Dylan would re-appear???

This later post clarifies, post marked the day Dylan went missing.

Calling Mark Redwine Before the current change, they had equal parenting time, I'm pretty sure because Elaine's income was higher, she was required to pay him some kind of support. When the agreement changed and Elaine was able to take Dylan to Colorado Springs, Mark was ordered to pay her. She got one check, post marked the day Dylan went missing. That's my understanding...

also I wonder..... has he been paying Elaine child support??? no not asking about the money aspect... asking because he could be arrested for that if he falls behind.... and even with all this going on he is still responsible to pay support

Katt Hawkins Up until Lainie moved to Colorado Springs she had to pay Mark. At the hearing in Sept. when the judge ruled that she could move Dylan to C.S. it was determined that Mark would have to begin paying her child support, but the amount was not decided and a hearing was set for Jan. to determine the amount. Conveniently for Mark, they didn't have to attend that hearing....
