M: Dylan, my prayers are with you and I love you very much. He was the light of my life and he meant everything to me. And I just want him home just like everybody else does. And that's why we've got to keep searching for him. Because somebody knows something. We've got to find him and we need to know that he's okay.

he was and he meant

past missing person cases, tells us all to often that, the use of  past tense is not good

True, cw618.  I'd noticed that too, actually Dylan's dad wasn't the only one that spoke of him in the past tense.

Considering everything else (including last one to see Dylan) I'm more suspicious of his use of it.  jmo

Hello friends! I just want to say thank you to all of you for loving my son so much and helping us do everything we can to bring him home. I know some of you have voiced concerns about our efforts and I wanted to assure you that we are doing everything we can. It is equally frustrating to us that the media is not doing more and we leave messages for them all the time. Most times we never get a call back. We have been working on getting build boards up on the Interstates and we finally have one up on I-25 and Fillmore. Lamar signs has been amazing working with us but it's a time consuming process and because they are doing it at no cost they have to take care of their paying customers first, so please be patient and understand that we are constantly working behind the scenes, you just sometimes don't see the results right away.

I appreciate all of the prayers. Please don't stop sharing, liking and praying. Together we are going to bring my baby boy home.

Elaine

Family hopes billboard brings new leads in missing teen case

Billboard features missing teen Dylan Redwine

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Nearly two months after vanishing without a trace, the family of missing teenager Dylan Redwine hopes a new billboard in Colorado Springs could help lead to new tips.

The billboard, which is displayed off of I-25 and Fillmore Street, lists the teen’s age and description in an effort to help investigators locate the 13-year-old.

Redwine, who investigators don’t believe ran away, has not been seen or heard from since November 19 while visiting his father near Durango.

The Center for Missing and Exploited Children as well as the La Plata County Sheriffs Office continues to distribute the teen’s information in an effort to generate new leads.

Karin Hatfield People go missing every day (unfortunately) and again (unfortunately) it is usually a familial involvement. I know Mark. I know what he is capable of and I know what he has put my sister and nephews through for over 17 years. But even if that was not the case. Even if I thought he was the greatest guy in the world...I would be convinced that he was involved. It isn't only the phone Sarah...because if that was the only thing wrong with this picture I could agree with your hypothesis. Its everything else too. The lack of evidence found at Mark's house is another. People leave their DNA. From what I understand (from LE) they had to request something from Dylan in order for the search dogs to trace his scent. We shed thousands of skin cells every day. No hair, no dna on the blanket that we could get his scent from? The lack of true concern from Mark, the lack of involvement from him trying to find his child, the refusal to take a second polygraph to rule him off the list, etc...etc... I think this page shows that there would be enough people, collected in a jury pool, to convict him in the event that Dylan is found deceased. For my sister, my nephew, our family, I hope that he only spends life in prison for kidnapping and not the death penalty for killing him. \

Karin Hatfield Mark WANTS to hurt Elaine. That is what this has always been about. I absolutely agree with Elaine that I don't think Mark would intentionally hurt Dylan but I do think he could get angry enough to hurt him when he lost control. Also, Mark took Cory and Dylan to his boss's cabin and hid them away once before (early in the divorce). His ex wife took their boys and moved to Arizona which, at the time, I know Mark felt like it was a kidnapping. Mark told me that Arizona agreed to drop the back child support (when he discovered where they were) because, at the time, the courts felt both parties were in the wrong. I only know Mark's side of that story so I won't get into it here but I will say that he has had exposure before to what he believed was parental abduction (whether or not it really was...again...I don't know and knowing this side of Mark I really cannot blame his exwife for what she did). He may think that it is perfectly appropriate to steal a child based on his prior experiences. All of these are just random thoughts of mine but they need to be addressed. Mark has some questions to answer and dammit I want to know where my nephew is!!!

How is that NOT proof??? Really??????

Karin Hatfield 100% true Kathi! Dylan does...or did love his dad. Unfortunately, Mark does not care about DYLAN...he cares about exacting revenge on his mother. And for what? For divorcing him because he was a terrible husband? Oh..right...Mark doesn't see that anything was his fault. That is why there are SOOOO many boys out there that choose to be without their father rather than have one in their lives that only bring them pain. Mark will say that the mothers turned these boys against him...well I don't know about the two older boys but I know that Cory was old enough to see his dad for what he is when they got divorced. Cory has, several times, without elaines presence, told me about things (some of which are PICTURES MARK...YOU know what i'm talking about!!!)that his dad did that has disappointed him and made him feel let down by his dad. Elaine had nothing to do with those conversations Mark!!! MAN UP AND RETURN DYLAN!!

Karin Hatfield I know that my sister has to be careful of what she says because all she wants is to bring Dylan home. Although I don't necessarily agree with her methods (I am a much more direct and aggressive person), I know my sister. She has hope. That is all she has. If her hope means praying and hoping that Mark would not be capable of hurting her child wouldn't your mind also go there? It is much easier to hope for the best, then consider the worst. Thank you so much for caring and loving for my nephew. Dylan really is a cute, sweet boy that never deserved this. Out of all of the MR boys, Dylan loved his dad the most (maybe that was due to the fact that MR stayed home with Dylan for the first several years of Dyl's life). I don't understand how someone could do this to someone that trusted them so explicitly. But then again, I dont understand narcissism at that level either...

Karin Hatfield Luna Madre! Hear Hear! He is absolutely all of those things! And since it is all a matter of court record...yes. Elaine supported Mark for years while he stayed at home at watched Dylan (and worked at Papa Johns part time). And yes, Elaine paid Mark child support...even though she had the kids 99% of the time (the majority of time he was awarded either Mark did not use or the kids did not want to go). This was because Elaine was the sole supporter of the family for most of the time and she had a much higher income. Fair? No, but that is our court system.

Karin Hatfield I am absolutely positive that I know more about MR than Michelle Rivera does! Even Mark's family (most of whom he had little contact with in the entire time he was married to my sister) knows ONLY what MARK tells them! All of the people that lived in that house with that family are in agreement with various incidents except for mark. I will admit, I was not there either but when it comes to believing one person vs three people? I chose the story that is told by three people. Mark's family only knows what Mark has told them. Nothing else.

Karin Hatfield MY opinion is MR is responsible. His first polygraph was inconclusive and he has refused to take another. Why? I know that there is alot of circumstantial evidence against MR that LE just won't release to any of us because they probably dont want to jeopardize the case. Why isnt her actively being involved in finding Dylan? Why would he bee more concerned with a future college fund than finding his child now? he thinks that just because he let LE in to search his house and vehicles that puts him in a good light. We are not idiots. If you never made out back to your house then of course there would be no physical evidence so why not let LE in? What he must fail to realize is the absense of evidencee in and of itself, IS evidence!!! If they did not find DNA or enough of Dylans scent for bloodhounds then my guess is that's because he wasn't physically in that house for months. I used to be his sister in law. Mark and elaine got divorced cause his kid caught him banging his best friends wife on the lawn right outside their home

Dylan was visiting his dad on a court ordered visit, surely there was also an appointed time that he was DUE BACK TO HIS MOM?

If there is truly NO EVIDENCE that Dylan was ever at Mark's house, IMO he should be charged with contempt of court and locked up until he tells where Dylan is!

Enforcing an Existing Custody Order in Colorado

When a couple with children gets divorced, custody is usually the most contentious battle they face.  But even after a parenting plan has been established, sometimes issues come up which demand enforcement.  For example, if a non-custodial parent refused to return the children to the custodial parent at the proper time, or violates other terms of a Colorado custody order, they are guilty of “custodial interference.”
In Colorado, like most state, custodial interference is a criminal action.  This is true even if the non-custodial parent has some parenting rights.  Basically, it is defined by the act of keeping a minor child from his or her custodial parent intentionally, thereby interfering with that parent’s legal custody of the child.  If you are a victim of custodial interference, a Colorado Springs child custody lawyer can help you enforce the terms of your parenting plan.

Here are some examples of custodial interference.

• Restricted telephone access: Most custody agreements allow for liberal phone access to the children during visitation.  If this is being denied, it is a form of custodial interference.

• Parental kidnapping:  This is when one parent willfully absconds with the child(ren), as a way to prevent them from having a relationship with the other parent, often going out of the state or the country.

• Delayed return of the children: When a non-custodial parent willfully and/or repeatedly fails to return the children to the custodial parent in a timely manner, whether hours or days, it is considered custodial interference.

While it can be difficult to enforce a parenting plan on your own, a Colorado Spring child custody lawyer can file a contempt of court petition on your behalf.  If it is determined that the offending parent willfully violated your agreement for custody, a judge may decide to fine them or order supervised parenting time.  Repeated or serious offenses may also result in prison time.

I have thought from the beginning that Dylan's had had something to do with Dylan's disappearance. I don't think he ever made it to the dads house. His story went from "I tried to wake him up and couldn't" to "I just told him I was running a few errands." That and they had to wait to get something of Dylan's to get a scent for the dogs. If he had slept on the couch then wouldn't his scent be on the bedding. I really hope they start putting the screws to his dad.

Dylan had no further communication with Ryan following his 8:01 PM text on the 45 minute drive to his father's home following a stop at McDonalds and Walmart after being picked up from the airport.  Could it be that Dylan's attitude regarding not being allowed to immediately meet up with his friend outraged Mark?

Green Eyes ... you have definitely covered some red flags that indicate Dylan never made it to his father's home that night.

Has Mark submitted to a polygraph?

Monday night, Elaine Redwine spoke to HLN's Nancy Grace, who asked her if Mark Redwine failed a polygraph test.

"No I didn't say he failed a polygraph,"  Elaine Redwine said. "I think it was inconclusive."

Social media a vital part in search for Dylan Redwine
by Travis Ruiz
Posted: 2 hrs, 4 mins ago

MONUMENT, COLO. -- Social media is continuing to play an integral role in the search for Dylan Redwine.

Dylan has been missing since Nov. 19, his mother Elaine said. That was a day after arriving at his father's Vallecito home for Thanksgiving break.

"You know every day I wake up, and Dylan's not home," Elaine Redwine said.  "It's just another empty day."

 ::snipping2::

Elaine said the search continues to be hindered by Dylan's Father. She said he will not speak to her about Dylan's disappearance.

"My gut feeling is that Dylan's dad had something to do or knows something more than he's giving information about," she said. "I wish he would talk to us but he won't do that."

Click here to watch FOX21's full interview with Elaine Redwine.

The search for Dylan, according to Elaine, will not end until he is found.

"We will always look for him and we will find him," she said. "I choose hope for Dylan, because as a mother, it's very difficult to deal with something like this but I have no reason to believe that he's not (alive) so I will always choose hope for Dylan."

Hundreds Hold Onto Hope For Missing Dylan Redwine

It was an incredible show of support for Dylan Redwine and his family Thursday. A dinner benefit was held for the teenager to help raised money for his search.

While there were tears and heartache for Dylan, the room was filled with hope Thursday.

Hundreds came to show support for the 13-year-old who has been missing since November 19.

“It's been really sad. I miss him. He was just a funny person who could make you laugh in less than a second,” said Joseph Ceballos, Dylan’s neighbor and friend.

Lewis Palmer High School in Monument was packed, filled with family who loves Dylan, friends who miss him, and even complete strangers.

“We are a close knit community and being a mother of two boys, my heart goes out to Dylan's mother and family,” said Chelsea Stephenson, a mother showing support.

“I look at this Facebook page every single day, just to see if there are any new updates, see if there are any leads, see if they found him,” said Rita Brown, whose 13-year-old daughter knows Dylan.

Wearing “Hope for Dylan” bracelets and blue ribbons, all spread one common message: They’re not giving up.

"We don't want him to be forgotten. We want him to be found, and to be safe and come back,” said Nicholas Kemp.

Dylan’s mother Elaine Redwine says their family will never stop searching.

“He’s our baby, we will never give up hope. We never and will never give up hope. We are trying to stay strong for him,” said Elaine Redwine.

Elaine says the goal of the benefit was not only to raise funds to help fund Dylan’s search, but to continue to raise community awareness. She wants to make sure everyone knows his face and his story, and are keeping an eye out for her boy.

“When time passes, people pass too. And we just don’t want Dylan to pass. We want him to be out there, we want everyone to know his story so that any tip or anything little that can bring him home, will help us bring him home,” said Elaine Redwine.

The mother is grateful to family, friends, and the community who all helped make the fundraiser a success.

“It's overwhelming. I just thank each and everyone one of you for all your support and thoughts and prayers and posts. It's gonna help bring Dylan home,” said Elaine Redwine.

All funds from the dinner, silent auction, and raffle will go towards search efforts to help find Dylan.

MONUMENT, Colo. -
Hundreds of people gathered Thursday to help a missing boy's family continue the search for him.

Attendees paid $5 a plate for a spaghetti meal.  Elaine Redwine, Dylan's mother, said the money will be used to rent billboards publicizing Dylan's disappearance, and possibly increase the $30,000 reward for information that leads to finding him.

"I'm sad that we have to do this for Dylan," said Redwine.  "But I'm so grateful for everybody who's participated and has taken the time and energy, and been so gracious in getting Dylan's name out there."

Dylan's aunt, Lia Howard, said relatives decided to have a fundraiser in Monument after the success of a similar event in the Durango area.

"A lot of people here didn't know who Dylan was, or that he was missing," said Howard.  "And now, people are finally getting that awareness.  But it surprised us that people up here didn't know about it."

Samantha Iverson, a friend of Dylan's who's the same age, said she's glad people are learning about him.

"I last saw him the week before he went missing, the week before Thanksgiving break," she said.  "I really miss him a lot.  He was a really good friend."

Organizers also held a silent auction and raffle as part of the event.  Around 900 people attended the event and raised an estimated $20,000.

Monument mom's life halted by son's disappearance

Elaine Redwine’s life, this cozy thing that included a pending marriage, a new house on 2.5 acres and a job she loved at Colorado College, came to a halt on Nov. 19.

One text message from her ex-husband Mark Redwine, and her world changed forever.

Their 13-year-old son Dylan, who was visiting his father over Thanksgiving in the Vallecito area near Durgano, was missing.

Since that day, Elaine has not worked at her job as an associate director of financial aid.

The marriage to builder Mike Hall is on hold.

And the house outside of Monument that they moved into two weeks before Dylan disappeared has an empty bedroom that she never enters.

“Every time I look in there I see these little socks and …” she breaks into tears.

“I never thought in million years I would have a missing child,” she said. “Now, it’s part of every day. It’s real.”

Since Dylan’s disappearance, volunteer searchers and a team of investigators have sifted through clues and plodded through acreage looking for the boy.

 ::snipping2::

It’s been the toughest two months for Elaine.

On Thursday, Elaine and other family members were preparing for a dinner benefit for Dylan to raise funds for the search. There were 1,600 tickets with Dylan’s face on them. Photos of Dylan and posters for the benefit were on a table.

Elaine was wearing a Boston Red Sox T-shirt. Dylan had given it to her after a trip to Boston last summer with his father. Dylan, she said, loves the Red Sox.

His birthday looms. Dylan turns 14 on Feb. 6.

“I hope by then he’s here,” Elaine said.

If Dylan is not, she is not sure if they will celebrate, going on with their lives as if he is still around.

They try to talk about him in present tense. Now and then a past tense slips in, and they quickly correct themselves.

“We will always continue as if he is here,” Elaine said. “He’s here in our hearts and our minds and our souls.”

The memories burn.

Only recently has she been able to discuss Dylan without bursting into tears. The tears still come, but less often.

She remembers receiving the text Nov. 19 from Mark Redwine and contacting the Bayfield Marshal’s Office to report Dylan missing. She headed to the area after work.

Elaine, Hall and family members reached the area around midnight.

By 1 a.m., they began their personal search.

“Panic set in,” Hall said.

They knocked on doors, stopped at the convenience store, woke up neighbors looking for Dylan, he said. They didn’t find anything.

The next day, a search-and-rescue team arrived and the searches grew in size and scope, with up to a couple hundred made up of community members.

Again, nothing was found.

“The first thing that went through my mind was that I hope he is ok, then anger, because I know Dylan wouldn’t just run away,” Elaine said. “And then, of course, fear. Who has him? Where is he? He couldn’t just disappear. I still think those things.”

Elaine has been searching ever since. She was in the area for a month and searched every day.

Not a single clue.

“We scoured that area,” Elaine said. “There were no clues, not even a footprint. I’m supposed to believe he just vanished and I don’t believe that.”

The most difficult time for her was when divers searched area reservoirs for Dylan’s body.

“It was disheartening when they were in the boats. That was terrifying,” she said.

The dearth of clues, she said, has left her with an overload of unanswered questions and a suspicion that her husband knows more than he is letting on.

He doesn’t return text messages and refuses to meet with her to answer questions, she said.

She wants to know why he left Dylan that morning to do his errands.

She wants to know why Dylan, who had a cell phone, never called her or his friends.

She wants to know how there can not be a single clue to a missing boy who left home with a backpack while his father was on errands.

“He’s lost our child,” she said. “Dylan didn’t just disappear. He didn’t walk off on his own. He didn’t hitchhike and he didn’t just stop calling people on his cell phone.”

 ::snipping2::

So she makes the five-hour drive every week or so from Monument to Durango, where she stays with friends. Sometimes, she meets with others in Bayfield to keep up their flagging spirits. Other times she attends local events for Dylan.

And sometimes, although the odds are enormously against her at this stage, mom still searches for her 13-year-old son.

“Sometimes, I go to Vallecito and, you know, just look,” she said.

And the boys from all accounts were just as happy as Elaine.

There it is in a nutshell folks...the MOTIVE.

We need to make sure all bases are convered in the search for Dylan...and that includes looking at any and all suspects. My mind just cannot see the probability of someone coming in....the VERY remote, dead end road of marks house to happen upon a kid (who was seldom there so why that particular day?). Why not someplace...any place...more accessible? Mark's story simply does not agree with the physical evidence...or in this case...the lack of evidence. No DNA at the house? No clothes for the dogs to pick up a scent? If he was there, they could have used the blanket, pillows for a scent, but coultndt. Why not? A missing fishing pole? Why would a Sexual predator take a pole? Why would a predator know to take his backpack? Dylan walking versus. taking his bike that was at his dads? His scent was not on that road, and not one footprint along the four mile stretch to the lake. He was wearing a very distinctive shoe. Mark sent a text message to my sister saying "At least he never hitchhiked when he was with me" How can Mark be so sure of that if he doesn't know how Dylan went missing? A 13 year old that lives on his phone suddenly either turns his phone off (or even if the battery died) doesn't charge it back up during the night? No. we need to keep the focus on the most likely suspect...pressure him to tell us what happened...to Dyl I;m not saying that LE should not focus on anyone other than Mark...if they have the manpower. My gut and every fiber of my being feels that Mark is involved in this...whether he killed him or hid him.
