CNN - But John told reporters late Monday that Depak Kalpoe confided in him while they were in jail together, saying he had lied to police and had also apologized for getting Jones and John into "that mess."

"He [Depak] told me that the story about dropping the girl off at the Holiday Inn was all made up," John said, adding that Kalpoe told him he and his brother dropped Van Der Sloot and Holloway off near a Marriott hotel and then went home.

The area being searched Tuesday is near the Marriott, about a mile from the Holiday Inn where Holloway was staying.

John said Kalpoe told him the brothers figured Holloway would turn up "a few days after, in some crack house or beach bar."

Didn't know about the crackhouse comment.  I don't think the family owns a car rental

Why the h**l would he assume that she'd turn up in a crackhouse? Something very strange about that comment.

i think that may be a way to try and slander natalee and make her look bad, by indicating that she allegedly has a drug problem or is a young woman of ill-repute.

it also shows how disrespectful he is of another human being.

Those things they loaded off of the flat bed truck must have been porta-potties; I saw one standing upright on a zoom in. That many personnel drinking a lot of water def. need them, but they've been there for over 4-hours, doesn't sound like a false alarm.

Locals, was it announced during the earlier searches not to disturb anything? Can't believe that kid disturbed that potential evidence.

That was probably just the comment of a "punk" who wants to make it look like are women are loose and doing drugs. Again, if you read deeply into their websites you can see the lack of respect they have for women.

He knew she was a tourist.  That's crap.  why would a coed come to Aruba to become a crackhead?  I'm sure they knew it her last night there and knew that would not happen.  Why didn't he ask where she was just out of curiosity.  I would never assume that about a tourist here.  I would be concerned

The beach is on the lee side of the island running between orajestad and the lighthouse.  The major hotels are lined up along the beach like a string of pearls.  There is a palm lined promenade along the beach side so it is easy to move from property to property.  the marriot is the newest I think.  On the other side is the road that runs from Oranjestad to the lighthouse with vehicle access to each of the hotels.  It is an easy walk from the HI to Mariott.  There is a map on the Aruba infomation board and has been here recently

I'm wondering if an assualt, or romantic evening--as the three amigos might refer to it---would be planned for the last evening of the tourists stay so that nothing could be reported since one would be departing from the island.  A tourist wouldn't have time to make a report and stay for an investigation if their plane was soon leaving.

The "crackhouse" comment goes straight back to the kidnapping angle.  Remember that Natalee's mom seems to have a conviction that she is still alive that goes far past the usual don't let go of hope attitude. Like she knows something secret about the case. The passing out of flyers in neighborhoods this morning is right down that line also.

BTW the Top 95 stream is now nothing but nonstop commercials, as if they have booted the news in the interest of PR.

when this is solved and the dust settles I hope someone in Aruban LE takes the time to check out what's going on at C&C. Just by digging through Joran's web postings I found several of his "friends" and their postings show a pattern of picking up women who visit Aruba and working through other guys to hook them up too.

I think as a symbol of cleaning up thier act, they should close Cnc's permanently.  Its just a dive, roadhouse.  Any night of the week there is enough code violation there to pull the liquor licsence of any bar in USA.  

It should have already been done.
