There was a time, years ago, when some stuff was dumped into the ocean on the north coast.  The purpose was never to "feed the sharks."  Plus this was stopped years ago.

Well, good for them - speaking up like that in a country (US) that is always worried about being PC.  I respect that, and would recommend such a boycott.

I have heard all about how the Aruban officials, police, detectives, etc. are "trying" so hard, what nice people they are, over and over, ad nauseum.  

But after hearing yesterday that officials are reluctant to use our divers, our FBI, and who knows what other resources we have offered, I am rapidly becoming disenchanted with Aruba.

I do agree that I think Mickey knows more but has been told to keep quiet to protect the investigation.  I'm actually surprised that he said all that he did.  I would venture to bet that authorities weren't happy about all the news shows he appeared on and told his story to yesterday, but what could they do?  They kept him in jail for days for something most of us think they knew he didn't do.

People disappear, and intensive searches are mounted for them using all the most sophisticated tracking techniques and high-tech equipment. Yet no trace of the missing individuals is found. Then, a few years later, a hiker or hunter or dogwalker stumbles across a skull or a femur.

Heres a thought for some of you folks to think about.Say a Arubian citizen came to say Chicago ok? This hypthetical person got into trouble.Then the Arubian Police Dept.shows up and wants to investigate  the Chicago Polices territory.Do you think that Chicago is going to allow this.I don't think so.The same thing is happening in Aruba. Even though most of the Aruba Police where trained at Quantico,Virginia (Where the FBI training academy is located) .There are only 7 FBI agents in Aruba right now.They where not invited to Aruba.They where sent by a US Senator from Natalees home state.They are guests and they are offering to allow Aruba the use of the forensic pathology lab at Quantico.I am sure in time that Aruba will ask the FBI to help out.But for now the FBI is another tourist in Aruba.

Actually .. they were "invited".  It's FBI policy that they cannot "invade" another nation with the invitation (or permission) of the country in which the cirme has been commited (except forone major exception -- Kosovo).  I work with several retired federal agents, one being the agent in charge of the investigation at the Pentagon, and we had this discussion last week.  In conversations with agents that he has had in the last two weeks, they were "invited" by the Aruban government, but informed that they would only participate when help was ASKED for.  The Aruban government has does very little asking for help thus far, hence why the agents down there are mostly hands-off.  just my two cents, coming from a very well respected fbi agent ..
