>>one of the bros told the guard they thought she would show up at a crack house somewhere a couple days after

I heard Mickey say that. Also heard him say that the brother said there were no drugs, just heavy alcohol intoxication. That's why the crack house comment doesn't make sense.

I don't understand why everyone thinks the brother(s) is telling the gospel-truth. Sure I believe what Mickey's saying he heard, but to think yound adults aren't smart enough to know that jail cell conversations have been eavesdropped since jails were invented is pretty silly. I believe he was making his case, probably on advice of counsel.

Yes, Geraldo said this on O'Reilly last night and made a point of saying that the source on the quote was 'impeccable' - so I tend to think it was said.

And if so, the entire investigation is truly tainted... (in case we needed any further proof). And it would explain why Joran & Co. were released while the hapless guards remained in custody...

Well I was saying from the beginning that Natalee probably wasn't on Aruba anymore - but the story has changed so many times now - who knows what to think.  Personally I don't think they would have announced yesterday that the "case is solved and they would let everyone know within the next 24 hours," if they weren't going to report SOMETHING BIG

One could also surmise that the guard operation was FBI inspired.  We saw them there on TV knocking on the door (which they should not have been as it is extraneous).  Maybe the Arubans padded the story to get them to go that way.  Anyway, they all fell on their faces.  So it would be in the FBI's interest to say they are not "that" involved in something that is not going that well.     Embarassed

FOX just reported that Joran's father has filed a motion to see his son.  It also said that attorneys representing the 3 have filed motions to gain access to prosecution records.

An FBI agent who worked in the Carribean and was very familiar with Aruba said that the FBI who are there now were able to merely watch an interrogation behind glass, and were occasionally asked for assistance, like the dive team and cadaver dogs. The dive team has since left the island, the dogs were there yesterday at the Marriott...

All accounts indicate that the FBI is playing a very minor role and the Aruban police have repeatedly said that they're in charge and the FBI is helping.

And the Police Commissioner is in charge of them all. Joran's father's 'best friend'...

I do hope someone gets ahold of that gang bang video - If that happens and it does incriminate Joran in another crime, I think they'll have plenty to bargain with. Now, all he needs to do is shut up and let the police commissioner "bungle" the investigation further..

Wizard,

I wish you were correct.  The fact is that, we could probably pool just about any amount of money needed to get Natalee back home.  The problem is that the offer hasn't been extended and after 16 days the money necessary would have been raised and she would be back home now.

UPDATE 26: The Aruban newspaper, AweMeinta, opened their Wednesday edition with the following headline: “Tata di Joran cu caso kontra Ministerio Publico”, the translation of this headline is: “Joran’s father takes justice ministry to court”. The article relates that Joran’s father, Paulus van der Sloot, has lost his patience. Paulus van der Sloot is taking the justice ministry to court because Unlike Joran’s mother, he hasn’t been allowed to visit his son since his arrest. Van der Sloot is also mad because Joran’s attorney, Antonio Carlo,  has been dismissed by the justice  ministry. The case is supposed to begin today in Aruban court.

Uhhhhhhhh.  Last night Geraldo said..."this is hearsay, but comes from an impeccable source."

Give me a break!  I don't doubt this, but won't believe it until there's a better source.

Hey, Kip:

No, I'm not from DC. I assume you're referring to the Chandra Levy case, where the exact same thing as I described happened. I'm in the northeast. We've had several high-profile (regionally, anyway) cases of young girls disappearing. Their remains were found fairly close to where they'd vanished from. But the discovery of the bodies--or what was left of them--didn't happen until long after the initial crime. (All these girls were kidnapped, presumably sexually assaulted, and then murdered.) The primary searches for them were very thorough.
I fear that if Natalee is dead (I so hope not) that her remains won't turn up for a while. As a law enforcement officer you probably have some idea of how dreadful this is for her friends and family.

There are probably good reasons why the father hasn't been able to visit.  I wouldn't want him visiting Joran and if he does I would want the conversations recorded.  His father could offer a lot of advice on how to wait the system out and concede to nothing.  His father has the inside track on how that system works and what they will do to get him to admit what he may have done.
