arubagirl,

the FBI wasn't "called" in. An alabama senator called authorities & PM in Aruba and asked that they be allowed to come and share their expertise. From my understanding, the PM reluctantly agreed, but wasn't too thrilled about it.

I'm sure the FBI at each point, makes suggestions and says, "we could do this. we have advanced technology back in Miami/Washington/wherever. would you like us to process this for you?"

or "you know, you need to pick up his computer and car because they have forensic evidence." "you know, you could get more information out of them if you put them in one cell, bug the place, then separate them and make them think they're turning on each other."

Witness the fact that an FBI dive team showed up to help and because Aruban authorities wouldn't direct them to a spot to dive, they left without putting a toe in the water.

I hate to say it, but I don't really think your authorities want the FBI there. They probably wish they'd go away.

But, because it's a possible kidnapping of an American, they're going to stay as long as they're allowed.

FBI deals with ALL kidnappings because it's a federal crime and they're a federal agency. Kidnapping automatically means the FBI takes the lead over local authorities in the US.

Dash...what is it like to have to keep going?  Is it hard, or is it getting easier?  Are people in your town just as consumed as we are with the situation?
I also want you to know that there are many people who feel for you and your "class."  What happened was horrible; however, it was noone's fault except for those persons who committed the crime!  I only say this because for a few days I have seen people casting judgement.  God Bless and take care!

Hi All,  I have been watching this forum for a week, waiting for any new info too.  I do know the FBI has the resources necessary to figure this out. I will they were allowed to use them.  A couple years ago in Feb. my grandmother was kidnapped from her home.  Our local police got no where for two days.  The FBI was called in, and they tracked and found the person who took her.  Thank God they were called, because they found her alive after being held for five days in trailer in sub zero temps.

Fuhrman giving his thoughts on how FBI should handle this case.  Forensic Scientist Werner Spitz talking about evidence contamination.  I guess he didn't see the video of the guy running around with the panties.

Duct tape?  Duct friggin tape?  Greta, et al on Fox don't even know the difference between electrical tape and duct tape that any tradesman could see?

Perhaps there is some truth in Daschle's declaration that Republicans never worked.

It wasn't Daschle, it was Dean.  Also, Greta is one of the token Democrats.

Writenow, I can assure you that the PM will find it a personal victory if the FBI solved the case instead of the local cops. The latter and the PM have been in a clinch now for some time.

About the dive team not swimming, seems that they were not experienced in rough waters, but in lakes / rivers.
So I've heard.

Is it the OJ Mark Fuhrman?  (didn't he have a "botched" sort of role himself in the OJ case?)
