I just caught the end of the cross-examination of the witness.  Dr. Demarte seemed to be tired and somewhat frustrated with the questioning.  Did anything noteworthy happen in the past three hours?

Janet

Martinez had DeMarte systematically go through why she disagreed with the findings of battered women's syndrome, PTSD, and flight or flight. (She went through each by explaining each ones symptoms and why it did/didn't fit Jodi)

Earlier she also went through her diagnosis of Axis II borderline personality disorder. (Which was interesting and encompassing a lot of Jodi's actions dating back)

So far I think Wilmotts cross has been concerning DeMarte's CV and especially her time with sexual deviants (I don't know if that was the term used) DeMarte also used the example of pedophilia (it was wether family members would know and if the perp. distorts/minimize it) Questioning if she's still researching (no) and the amount of times she's presented and to whom (the gist: coworkers, teachers at a school, and I think medical ?lawyers?)

I found it really informative how she broke down everything and would suggest watching if you have the time.

Thanks Samantha

I may have time to watch this afternoon's court proceedings later on this evening if I am not too wiped.

A serious game of Monopoly with 11 year old granddaughter and almost 10 year old grandson is where it is at right now.  Papa has both Boardwalk and Park Place with hotels sooo I think the writing is on the wall in regards to the outcome.

I really had a hard time figuring where Willmott was trying to go, but I did find Dr. DeMarte's testimony/answers quite interesting.

I agree, listen to it if you get a chance.

I think (overall) she was trying to minimize DeMarte's expertise because so the speaking engagements and research (compared to their experts). I see why she wants/needs to do this but I think this expert comes of very knowledgeable.

The part about pedophilia/sexual deviancy was to tie it into Travis and Willmott wanted DeMarte to agree that the people surrounding a deviant or pedophile wouldn't know because of the minimizing/distorting. DeMarte wouldn't agree and said there would be something that would be an indication (in hindsight I guess) like seeking/making opportunities to be around children, child porn, and she mentioned other things.

I agree. Dr. DeMonte runs circles around Willmott. (And I don't mean that she is not answering straight.) She just blows Willmott out of the water. JMO.

I love watching and listening to her speak. Very knowledgeable and very intelligent.

Yes she is. I think she would be quite likeable by the jury also.

Agree.. A talking head, probably for the defense, said that the witness is very nervous and dry mouth etc...I did not get that impression. She seems very cool and collected to me. I like her

Of course it had to be a defense atty. I thought just the opposite actually. I found her vrry knowledgeable & she appeared very confident & not nervous at all. I also like that juan doesnt pussy foot & kiss his witnesses azz like wilmott does. I cant stand to hear wilmott speak.

I have been scanning through today's court proceeding on Youtube and ... the thought crossed my mind that something about Dr. DeMarte reminds me of Jodi.  Is it the hand gestures?

Defense rests.

State rebuttal begins with Janeen DeMarte, clinical psychologist on the stand.

Hi Monks!
Must say, Dr DeMarte is on point in her Dx of Jodi and I would be proud to work with her any day.. What a stark contrast between her and the 2 defense 'professionals'..
Dr Samuel's is a typical smarmy type who will sell their soul for a buck.. Alyce seems to have her own demons too. I have found that alot of people working in the mental health field are in just as much need for treatment as their patients. People unconsciously try to work out their own issues while working with patients.. nice, huh?
Alyce soaking that 250hr and doing over 40 hrs of interviews.. what a crock.
