So, did I hear right that court won't convene until Tuesday next week? How come? They need  to step things up a bit

That's what I heard too Cookie.  AZ sure has weird court schedules.

Man, had a wonderful day at the pond. Feel refreshed and invigorated. I hope Juan Martinez got some rest and energizer.

I am glad you had a good day hopping from lily pad to lily pad catching flies while Miss Piggy enjoyed a mud bath.

Me.  It was a somewhat boring day.  I don't know why but I was kinda down.  However ... I just had a pick-me-up.  Longtime friends/neighbors just called.  They invited themselves over for a game of Scrabble.  I am happy.  Game all set up ... ready to go.  Hubby took off to  Safeway at my request to pick up some munchies and goodies to serve with coffee/tea.

I have no doubt that Juan Martinez has energy to spare.  That guy cannot stand still.  I hope he is not resting.  He has a case to win!  Preparation is where it is at.

Maybe Martinez will allow kcrn or Samantha to clearly and concisely present the closing arguments to the jury.

Good Night

Sounds like a wonderful evening.

Trail updates - Heat of Passion is what the Defense is changing their defense too now.
U hope Juan has something up his sleeve.

WOW Defense wants to bring in another psych to refute the Prosecutor Dr. J's testimony so they can get a lesser charge

http://www.hlntv.com/article/2013/04/22/jodi-arias-defense-wants-present-more-evidence
<snipped>
The defense team wants to call psychologist Robert Geffner to the stand to refute DeMarte's testimony. The attorneys claim Martinez failed to present any evidence that Arias has a personality disorder in its case-in-chief, and therefore they should be allowed to rebut the new evidence introduced during his rebuttal case.

"If a court allows new evidence to be introduced in State's rebuttal, a defendant should be allowed to introduce contradictory evidence in surrebuttal," wrote defense attorney Jennifer Willmott in Monday's filing.
<snipped>
The defense also requested the court to add an instruction to the jurors' charging document for them to follow during deliberations. The proposed instruction would explain manslaughter by sudden quarrel or heat of passion.

In Arizona, if someone intentionally or knowingly kills a person without premeditation, the defendant could be charged with the crime of second-degree murder. However, if the jury believes the victim attacked the defendant, and if it was enough to incite the defendant's actions, then the intentional killing would fall under the lesser crime of manslaughter.

WTH  So the experts they called didn't workout the way they wanted. So after they have finished their side and the state called one expert that blew their experts out of the water. They want to be able to call someone else. Isn't that like some little kid saying I am losing so I want to change the rules so I can win. Will the Judge grant them their motion?

And when does it stop? Then Juan will have to call another expert to refute the defense's last expert. Sigh....this is getting stupid now.

Absolutely ridiculous. Doesnt each side get a heads up on what the other is bringing with their experts? This defense team is pathetic. I was listening to nancy grace last night & they were going through all of the monsters journals. I dont understand why some of it isnt allowed into evidence. Her entries after the killing prove that she lies in her own journals & wrote things she knew would be read by law enforcement. She wasso calculated & its so obvious.

Oh I get it. Jacob can testify he saw Travis and Jodi together being affectionate
and that refutes she was "Travis' dirty little secret".

Plus there is that video of her lying in Travis' lap while he tells the story.

Juan is refuting the defenses ::monkeyflag:: assertions one by one.

Randal,

I contacted an expert I have worked with out of California and here is what he had to offer about your expert:
Never heard of the "Abused Wife Syndrome," although I have literature and am
familiar with the "Battered Wife Syndrome," coined by Lenore Walker. Search
Medline and found no scholarly articles written by Robert Geffner. Amazon.com
shows these books written by him on domestic violence.:

http://www.allbookstores.com/browse/Author/Geffner,%20Robert

He is also the editor of some journals and founded "The Family Violence and Sexual Assault Institute":
http://www.fvsai.org/about.html http://www.fvsai.org/journals.html

From: http://www.leadershipcouncil.org/Research/PAS/PAS1/pas1.html

The American Psychological Association Presidential Task Force on Violence
And The Family (1996) states that no data exist to support PAS.

An article published in American Psychological Association's APA Monitor quotes Robert Geffner, Ph.D., a San Diego psychologist and expert on family violence issues:
While psychologists agree that some parents resort to such behavior, parental alienation syndrome is not a valid diagnosis and shouldn't be admitted into child custody cases (Sleek, 1998).
