After the jury was sent out to deliberate Friday, Jodi and the defense and prosecutor approached Judge Stevens. I was surprised to see Jodi up there as well.

I wonder what this powwow was about. Any ideas?

I thought that was odd too Brandi. I haven't a clue what it could have been about. I thought it was odd she just walked back to the defense table and she didn't have any leg shackles on. She didn't look like she had a care in the world.

I understand she does wear a stun belt ... something an officer can activate that stuns her if needed. Therefore, no shackles needed. One time, I think I saw the outline of the belt on her.

That would make sense.

I asked myself why Jodi did not shoot Travis while he slept and immediately continue her road trip to visit Ryan Burns.   The lost time on that road trip was a huge red flag in the investigation.

Could it be that at some point prior to or immediately follow her arrival at Travis' residence ... Jodi made the  decision to give Travis one last chance to redeem himself ... one last chance to profess his love and ... one last chance to extend an invitation to Cancun.   It never happened and ... in a rage Jodi put her premeditated plan into motion?

Janet

This is exactly what i think too janet. I think she thought she would try to reel him in 1 last time with sex & it didnt work so she proceeded to the plan.

I agree as well.

She had the murder planned (premeditated) on the condition Travis did not take her back. (And to Cancun.)

I am sure Juan will cover this when he gets to follow up.

That's what I think too. I am sure Juan will handle all that Nurmi has tried to do when he gets to do his follow up.

Green Eyes and Brandi

I too had hoped that Juan Martinez would have addressed/responded to to Kirk Nurmi's questioning as to why Jodi Arias did not take an opportunity to shoot Travis Alexander upon her arrival at his residence and ... then immediately take off to continue the road trip to Utah ... to meet up with Ryan Burns.  I have no doubt that the prosecutor could have come up with a possible scenario as to why Jodi's premediated plan to kill Travis may have been put on hold for over 12 hours.

Anyways ... at approximately 50:00 ... the following Youtube video reveals Nurmi's closing arguments regarding this issue.

Made this last night. I was so impressed with Juan's closing statement. I believe he will bring Travis justice.

the rope
Whaaaat? Is it really?looks like a carpet piece

Despite to gravity of the situation, I had to laugh when this picture was presented...

It looks like a blow up of a hair tie. I agree cubbie I thought WTH when they said it was proof of her rope story.

When I first saw the photo, it reminded me of a curtain tie back cord.

Judging from the size of it compared to the carpet loops, a hair tie would be about the right size of it, IMO.

I can see that too, Muffy. One thing's for sure, in my mind......... that's no rope used to tie anyone up with.

RIVERSIDE: Graveside vigil held for victim in Jodi Arias trial
BY RICHARD BROOKS
STAFF WRITER
May 05, 2013; 07:07 PM
Roughly 100 family and friends held a prayer vigil for former Rubidoux resident Travis Alexander, whose ex-girlfriend Jodi Arias is on trial in Phoenix in a murder case that has become a tabloid and cable TV sensation.

Alexander, who was born in Riverside, was slain in June 2008 at his home in suburban Phoenix. He suffered nearly 30 knife wounds, a slit throat and a gunshot in the forehead. Arias’ palm print was found in blood at the scene.

“We’ve been watching the trial for four months! This is the day we can come together and release all that stress,” said 43-year-old Lisa Almendarez, of Menifee, who helped organize Sunday’s vigil at Alexander’s grave in Riverside’s Olivewood Cemetery.

“Let justice happen,” she said. “We’ll never have him back. But as long as we know she can feel the pain of what she did, it’ll be satisfying.”

I can't wait till tomorrow. Hope that biotch Jodi is going down! She might not be so smug after tomorrow...I hope

Smug is right! I watched a Nancy Grace yesterday. It was a rerun, so I don't know when it first aired, but Nancy was visiting the jail Jodi is in. During the visit, she was allowed to speak with a couple of inmates. She asked them both if they knew "Arias" and what they thought of her. One of them said, "Oh yes, she's very nice. She's here because she was defending herself. She had no choice"..... and then went on to say that Travis abused her and that's why Jodi buried parts of Travis in various locations.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if that's exactly what Jodi told her. Jodi's going to find a way to make herself the center of attention wherever she is and lying seems to be her first choice of tools to accomplish anything she wants.

If it wasn't so sad it would be funny. Her lies just keep getting bigger and bigger. I am sure the gun, knife and bloody clothes are buried all over.

I can't help but wonder if the jury not being sequestered will impact any of them. IF it does have an impact, my bet is that it would push someone toward the State's case. You just know that locally this is big news and being covered everywhere you look.

If I were the lawyer for the State and knew I was going to have 8 men and 4 women on the jury, I think I would have shown the movie "Fatal Attraction" instead of giving a closing argument. I might have quoted Glenn Close at the very end and attributed it to Jodi: "I will not be IGNORED!"

I'm hoping the jury, in deliberations, will be able to come up with a scenario that fits.

Jodi wasn't happy during Juan's rebuttal and that makes me happy!!
I swear u would think i had a personal interest in this case. I am a nervous wreck. I have been trying to research things for insight like crazy. Researched whether men or women are more likely to convict, make up of previous juries in high profile cases, deliberation times for high profile cases, interviews with scott peterson jurors.......etc. Im making myself crazy here. I dont know how i feel about the 8 men & 4 women. Will men be more sympathetic to her because shes an "attractive" (not imo) woman? Will they understand travis' taking opportunities sexually with this rare type of girl for him who was willing to be freaky? I just dont know. This abuse CRAP is the only thing i worry about. Will they believe it with no proof? So many possibilities. If it werent for the casey anthony verdict i might have more faith in the intelligence of the average person. I cant see how they could disregard all of her lies. All the obvious planning for that little detour speaks volumes to me. The absolute gruesome slaughter that took place. How can they look at the autopsy photos & not want to punish her as harsh as they could. That had to be extreme suffering. My heart bleeds for his family waiting for this verdict  i pray god gives them some solace & closure in seeing the monster responsible for this at least life without parole. I need my god to show me that the evil here on earth wont always go unpunished in this life. I know she will meet her maker someday but i need somr sign right now that god is instilling his love into the people who have the tools right now to punish the evil. Im sorry if this sounds crazy & over the top but a am so tired of evil people being turned into celebrities, going unpunished & profiting off of their crimes. I gaurantee this witch will try to profit in any way she can if she is acquitted & travis' family will never know peace. Please god, allow these jurors to ser clearly what u already know & render a verdict that speaks the truth.

amen and amen.

It could be that too Muffy   It looks like the picture was enlarged to me what ever it is. But it's not a rope to tie any body up with & that they had to have a knife to cut it off of anyone.

Friend of Travis Alexander's speaks out at vigil before jury deliberations resume

Updated: May 06, 2013 12:08 AM CDT
By Jill Monier, FOX 10 News - bio

PHOENIX -

The 12 jurors in the Jodi Arias murder trial will resume deciding her fate on Monday morning at 9 a.m.

About 50 people gathered for a prayer vigil for Travis Alexander and his family Sunday night.

Many were wearing blue ribbons in his memory.

The vigil was held at Bolin Plaza, just east of the Capitol in downtown Phoenix, and was organized through Facebook and Twitter.

Most of the people at the vigil had not met Travis Alexander or his family, so they were surprised when one of Travis' friends showed up.

Travis Alexander's good friend, Dave Hall, was at the vigil.

Hall was subpoenaed for the trial and told not to watch it or talk about it, but he was released from that subpoena Thursday.

Sunday night, for the first time, he talked about Jodi and the days following Travis' murder.

For David Hall, the death of his friend and business partner, Travis Alexander, still hurts.

"Yeah, even five years later," said Hall.

Not only did Hall know Travis, he says Travis and Jodi Arias stayed at his Utah house.

"I could not see what Travis saw in her," said Hall.

Hall says none of Travis' friends liked Jodi.

He described her as hollow.

"There was no soul to her. She spent a week in my house as our guest and we probably exchanged a few sentences a couple times the entire time," said Hall. "Consequently, he finally decided to move on and move on with his life and I think Jodi had a hard time with that. I think she saw Travis as her ticket to freedom."

Hall says it was his other friend who Jodi came to see in Utah after killing Travis.

"12 hours after she killed Travis, she was hanging out with me and my friends having dinner and she had that bandaged up. Well, it's amazing, her story says he broke that finger in January, but in June she had that finger bandaged up," said Hall.

"That, combined with new hairdo, new hair color, taped up finger, long sleeved shirt, all those things together, you don't look at and say, 'Oh wow, who did you kill?' Later, when we found out he had been murdered and we started putting those things together, we thought that is ironic all of these things happened," Hall continued.

"There were quite a few of us who contacted Mesa PD, before we knew anything about Jodi being on the suspect list, and said you need to look at Jodi Arias, somehow she's involved in this."

Hall ended up on the witness list after he took video of he and Travis shooting guns at a leadership retreat he hosted.

"Anyone who didn't have a gun or four-wheeler I said let me know, I'll provide them for you or get them for you and every year Travis always said, 'Dave I don't have a gun, can you get me one? said Hall. "I knew that Travis didn't own a gun and when I heard Jodi say she ran in his room and grabbed his gun I about jumped out of my skin. I couldn't believe that was her story she was going to stick to."

Hall says it's a tragedy Travis Alexander's character was attacked in the courtroom.

"Did he have a sexual appetite? I think God installed that in most of us. Was he any type of a pedophile or abuser or anything like that? Absolutely not," said Hall.

Hall flew into Phoenix Sunday to await the verdict.

"You want to say closure, but it's not, it's a step in the right direction, taking that the jury gets this one right," said Hall.

Does anyone know of a resource that will notify you by email when a verdict has been reached?

I am searching for that now, but if anyone knows of one, please let us know.

(I am expecting a verdict today, as I voted in our poll.)
