Friends of Travis speak out about Jodis interview.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/15/jodi-arias-death-sentencing_n_3274006.html?ncid=webmail14

"There are three things we know with certainty about Jodi Arias. 1- She lies, 2- She lies, and 3- She lies. This is not up for debate, it's what she does," Chris Hughes, a close friends of Alexander's at the time of his death, told The Huffington Post.

"I think Jodi's request for the death penalty is Jodi doing what she does; lying and manipulating, Hughes said. Jodi is scared to die. She has been threatening to kill herself since high school. She has had access to guns and knives [and] she is still here. If Jodi wanted to be dead, she would be."

Hi Monkeys!!

Whew........ made it just in time apparently. Thanks for the postings already, guys! You all are the best at filling in all the blanks when life brings distractions!

Here's the link I usually watch the trial on, if anyone should need it:

Oh yuck. HLN is showing OJ. I could live the rest of my life and never see him again and be just fine. They said that they would switch to the Jodi Arias trial when it begins.   GOOD!

Last thing I'll say about OJ, but from the looks of him, prison food is generous.

I did hear HLN say that the attorneys were in the courtroom, and the jury arrived all together. They were speculating that they met offsite somewhere and were brought in together.

Two things I note:

She is NOT in jail clothing. (She is a convicted felon. I read convicted felons cannot wear civilian clothes in court.)

She still appears disinterested in court proceedings.

Well, I take it back. She is paying attention now.

Gonna play the sympathy card and cry perhaps.

She feels for no one but herself.

A side bar already! Geez.........

Defense doesn't like that Juan is talking about Jodi's testimony that she contemplated suicide and placed a towel to cut her wrist (that's when she stopped because it hurt). They're objecting, thus, the sidebars.

Travis' family is struggling emotionally while Juan is describing the pain Travis went through with the stab wounds.

Defense is up. Juan's opening was short, but effective, IMO.

State calls their first witness, Dr. Horn.

Sidebar ensues.

Ten minute recess is called.

A recess already??

I think the attorneys want to establish some ground rules with the judge. JMO.

Jodi looked for a deputy when recess was called and was escorted from the courtroom. When she stood, you could see her pants, which match her shirt perfectly. Both are a light pale beige. Give her a cap of the same color and a brush in her hand and she'd look just like a house painter.

The penalty phase of the Jodi Arias' trial has not concluded by I can see the writing on the wall ... the writing on the wall that reveals that there will be an appeal motion in the near future ... an appeal motion regarding representation ... representation that has cost the American taxpayers big time.

Arias told FOX 10 she has no mitigating factors
May 10, 2013

<snipped>

Troy: "A quote from your trial that's played over and over is Kirk Nurmi saying even he doesn't like you, what do you think when he said that?"

Nurmi: "It's not even about whether or not you like Jodi Arias. 9 days out of 10 I don't like Jodi Arias."

Troy: "You even smiled in it in court."

Jodi: "Um I thought of Elizabeth Johnson's trial and the attorney told them it was important, he told them it's not about whether you like her, just the facts of the case... I believe its standard somewhat. The jurors don't have to like the defendant."

Troy: "Why don't you get along?"

Jodi: "We did for a long time, we just have had clashes in ideas and ultimately he's the boss."

Troy: "Are you happy with your defense?"

Jodi: "I am grateful for my defense."

Troy: "That's not happy though."

Jodi: "Um not 100 percent but they've worked very hard."

Troy: "You have mitigation hearing coming up at penalty phase. You know what your mitigating factors are going to be and how you are going to play that?"

Jodi: "Well I've been told I don't have any mitigating factors."

Troy: "By who?"

Jodi: "My attorney."

Tory: "So Kirk Nurmi said there are no mitigating factors for you in terms of arguing against the death penalty?"

Jodi: "Um nothing that is what you typically see in a case like this, such as a childhood where there was drugs, alcoholism, molestation, none of those things occurred in my family so I guess we would sort of joke that my mom didn't beat me hard enough, so I don't have mitigation."

Troy: "So what are you going to do?"

Jodi: "They feel that I would be a suitable candidate to behave myself in a correctional facility and just not be a problem. That may be their angle, I don't know."

Juan back up with Dr. Horn on the stand. The family is really struggling with this. Jodi is turned from the monitor. Juan is establishing the presence of nerves in all the wounds from stabbings.

Hi Janet!

Yeah, I noticed on the postings below the livestream that someone said there was a new picture of the slash to the throat that had not been shown before. HLN just said that the picture remains up while they are at sidebar.

HLN described the photos as "beyond graphic".

If all Juan has to do to win this round is to prove "extreme cruelty" during the killing, then the defense would have been smart to just concede it. Maybe they didn't have the option, but in my mind, this phase is a foregone conclusion.
