I do not understand this jury. If anyone deserves death for their crime, it is Jodi.
I think that they will reach a verdict today but it may not be death. At this point, just to avoid a mistrial, I hope she gets life without parole.

I hope the jury will come to a unanimous decision today.  I don't believe it will be death, but perhaps a life sentence.    I think the judge can add the "without parole". I hope a mistrial can be avoided.  JMHO  But there is what Jodi can look forward to if she does get a death sentence:

Jodi Arias Could Join Husband Killer, Vigilante Murderer on Death Row
May 23, 2013

Jodi Arias could become the third woman on Arizona's death row if she is sentenced to death today for murdering her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander.

If condemned to death row, she would likely face a long sentence, since Arizona has not executed a woman since 1930. But that long sentence would be marked by extreme isolation.

Life on Arizona's death row would mean no contact with other inmates -- including her death row neighbors. Her chance to talk to others would be few. She would be allowed only two 10 minute phone calls per week.

She would be permitted visits, but there would be no physical contact with those visitors. And her family is in California, which could make frequent visits difficult.

Her life at Arizona's state prison complex at Perryville, outside of Phoenix, would be largely confined to a 12 feet by 7 feet cell which is outfitted with a toilet, sink, bed and mattress, according to the Arizona Department of Corrections. How she could furnish her cell is strictly limited: just two appliances, hygiene items, two books, and writing materials.

Arias, 32, would be allowed outside of her cell to exercise for only two hours on three days a week, plus three showers per week, according to the department. For the rest of her life, Arias would eat all her meals in that cell.

If the jury condemns her, Arias will join on death row Wendi Andriano, 43, who murdered her husband, and Shawna Forde, 46, who was convicted of killing a man and his daughter in an act of vigilante crime with a group of protesters angry over immigration.

In one of the interviews following the mitigation phone in a clip I saw on HLN ... Jodi explained the motive behind the 8 point mitigation strategy.  It was the defense's hope that at least one juror could personally relate to at least one of the factors and ... mercy would apply rather than justice.

1. Defendant was 27 years old at the time of the offense.
2. Defendant has no prior criminal history.
3. Defendant was a good friend.
4. Defendant lacked support from her family.
5. Defendant suffered abuse and neglect as a child and as an adult.
6. Defendant tried to make the best of her life.
7. Defendant consistently tried to improve herself.
8. Defendant is a talented artist.

I cannot comprehend why the jury is not given three choices when deliberating ... death/life without parole/life with parole or ... the judge in this phase of the trial is not given the responsibility of ruling on the sentence.  Maybe I am missing something.  Story of my life.

I have no idea whether they will reach a verdict today, but I do sort of think the jury will decide something today. It may be that they decide that they are hopelessly deadlocked. I think it would be harder to persuade someone to move to a death verdict than it would to move someone to Life.

My logic says that the death penalty has gotten less likely, in either case. By all accounts that I've heard, this jury seems to have taken the case very seriously, and I would expect that nobody is going to be easily moved from their conclusions.

This suspense is too much!

However ... there is a positive side.  My house is receiving a good clean while HLN is blaring in the background.

Hubby offered to do the vacuuming while he proceeded to turned off the TV.  I gave him "the look" and instructed him to turn the TV back on ... the vacuuming could wait.  I have the feeling I will be doing the vacuuming.

Could it be that the "death penalty" jurors would compromise and a mistrial could be avoided if they could be assured that Jodi would receive a life sentence WITHOUT parole?

Apparently there was just a jury question. The media report they do not know what it was. Yet.

Wild About Trial @WildAboutTrial

Jury question and response will be returned to the jury by the bailiff. We are heading back out now that hwild just got settled. #JodiArias
