Thanks Muffy

Could it be that Jodi has been directing the defense from the getgo?  Was the self-defense plea furthered at her insistence. In the past prior to the trial ... Kirk Nurmi has made several attempts to withdraw but each motion has been denied.  I remember when Jodi first took the stand ... Nurmi asked ... for all to hear ... if she was testifying on her own free will.

The following is a link to Jodi Arias' March, 2011 letter to the judge in response to one of several motions filed by Kirk Nurmi to withdraw his representation.

Jodi Arias will speak "about who she is," defense lawyer tells jurors weighing death penalty

Arias herself would also speak, Nurmi said, "in a different way -- not about what happened, but about who she is."

"When you hear who Ms. Arias is, you will understand that life is the appropriate penalty," Nurmi said.

Talk about  So she had a tough life cry me a river. No one has a prefect life. But we don't going around slaughtering people. After you hear who she is you will understand and not give her the death penalty. Really  She knows right from wrong and she knew what she was doing.  She didn't just kill Travis she slaughtered him. To me there is no difference between her killing Travis than so many of the others scum bags that we have followed on Scared Monkeys.

Sister, Thank you so much for posting that picture! Yesterday was a sad, sad day for everyone with a heart to hear and see the hurt of the Alexander family.  Justice is coming Jodi and I for one don't want to hear anything more about you.

CBB

Could it be that no court on Fridays allows travel time for family members/jurors/witnesses who do not reside near the trial location?  Steve Alexander stated yesterday in his victim impact statement that he travels home each weekend to be with his wife and daughter.

It appears that Patrisha (Patrica/Patti/Patty) Womack may not be speaking on behalf of Jodi Arias on Monday but ... this morning on GMA a clip of an interview with Patrisha (Patti/Patty) Womack was played.  I am not sure when this interview took place and what program but there was an ABC logo in the right bottom corner.  Anyways ... Womack stated in this interview that her childhood friend had a "wonderful" family ... a family she wished she had been blessed with.  These are the words that Jodi Arias' implied in her own words in the January, 2013 48 Hours interview ... Picture Perfect.

Kirk Nurmi stated yesterday in his opening statements of the nitigating phase of the trial that Patty Womack would affirm Jodi Arias' claim in regards to her dysfunctional childhood.  I hope that Juan Martinez is aware of these interviews.

Now, listed before you are eight mitigating factors. The defendant was 27 at the time of the offense and she had no prior criminal history. You’ve heard evidence to that effect already. She was born on, there was a driver’s license admitted of her birthday of July 9, 1980. She has no prior criminal history. That was presented to you during the trial. #3 she was a good friend. You will hear from two witnesses during this phase of the proceeding from Miss Arias. You already met one, Darryl Brewer. If you recall, you met him back in January. He was the long time boyfriend of Miss Arias and who in fact, the one that preceded Mr. Alexander. They spent some time together. You’ll hear about the role she played in his life and in his son’s life as well. You will also hear from a friend of hers, a lifelong friend because they lost touch later in Miss Arias’s 20’s when she got together with Mr. Alexander. Her name is Patty Womack. She will talk to you a little bit about the Jodi Arias she knew, her upbringing. She will talk about the lack of support Miss Arias had from her family. She will describe that for you from her observations. You’ve heard during the course of the trial that Miss Arias suffered abuse and neglect as a child and as an adult.

Not sure CBB but I don't think they have any court in AZ on Friday in the Phoenix area any way. I am guessing it's a budget thing.

When/If Patrisha Womack speaks to the jury on Monday on behalf of her friend ... how will she reconcile her words spoken in the following interview with the words that according to Kirk Nurmi will affirm Jodi Arias' claim of an dysfunctional childhood.

Jodi must be directing her own defense.

If not ... it would make sense for Jodi Arias' attorneys to have Jodi's parents take the stand and apologize to the family for recognizing Jodi had mental problems but not being more forceful about her seeking professional assistance.  Maybe Travis would still be pursuing his dreams.

It would make sense for Jodi's attorneys to have her siblings take the stand and share memories with the jury ... memories of good times in the past with their sister.

It would make sense ... as you suggested ... for Jodi's parents to openly address their daughter by letting her know while they do not condone her actions which she has to be held accountable ... their lover for her is unconditionally.

All the defense is doing is revealing to the world ... revealing to the jury that Jodi Arias has NOBODY significant in her corner.  IMO

If the scales of justice are to balance ... I believe Jodi Arias should receive the death penalty for the murder beyond brutal of Travis Alexander.  On one hand ... this is why I am thankful the defense attorneys are blowing it by preventing mitigating circumstances encompassing Jodi's mental health to be revealed.  On the other hand ... I just hope this is not an avenue for an appeal.

Arias Parents in Police Interrogation
Aired April 29, 2013 - 20:00   ET

NANCY GRACE, HOST: We`re taking you inside the police interrogation room as they question Arias`s parents just two months after Travis Alexander`s brutal killing. This is interrogation, moments that even the jury has not seen,

Excerpts:

SANDRA ARIAS: Because (INAUDIBLE) one of the things when she was here (INAUDIBLE) I called (INAUDIBLE) she`s a member of the Mormon church, and I called the bishop here and wanted to know if there`s any way he could find out where she was going down there to the church because I wanted to talk to him and see if he could talk to Jodi and find out what`s going on because, like I said, she would just totally flip out on me.

SANDRA ARIAS: She would call me in the morning all happy, and call me an hour or two later in tears, crying and sobbing about something she didn`t want to talk about. And that happened constantly, and her friends thought -- too -- I had one friend call me in the middle of the night, and he even called a hotline for bipolar people and said Jodi is bipolar and she needs help. And that`s when we talked her into coming back here so she could be around family.

Here's an article that provides an answer to your question.  It's up to the judge.  Hope it helps.

http://www.hlntv.com/article/2013/05/17/can-jodi-arias-art-save-her-life

Can Jodi Arias' art save her life?
updated 4:39 PM EDT, Fri May 17, 2013

If the jurors decide to not sentence Arias to death, Judge Sherry Stephens will either sentence her to life in prison without parole or life in prison with the eligibility for parole after 25 years.

Nurmi told the jury Thursday that Arias will speak to the jurors during this phase of the trial, and she will also show them her artwork. It could be one of the most memorable moments of the trial.

"Arias will have the opportunity to talk to you in a different way, not about what happened but who she is," said Nurmi.

Just thinking out loud, but maybe the reason the defense is not putting the mother or the sibllings
on the stand is because the Prosecutor could cross or bring in rebuttal witness'?

If Jodi gets 25 years, she has already served 5 and with good behavior may get out earlier.
Can you imagine.

I might be wrong, but I would think any mother or family would want to do whatever they could
to plead to keep their child alive. To not do so, sends a msg to the jury imo.

Kermit ......
Just thinking out loud, but maybe the reason the defense is not putting the mother or the sibllings
on the stand is because the Prosecutor could cross or bring in rebuttal witness'?

I find it odd that the mom isn't going to take the stand either. Not surprised dad isn't but mom or grandma one would think would try and safe her. But maybe they aren't good enough liars for her.
