I need to ask the monkeys a question that's off topic... really, how to handle a situation..

if a friend's, a very dear, very loved friend's husband has gained so much weight and you see a picture, but you notice that he looks unhealthy... I mean like maybe a thyroid disease etc....

how do you ask your friend if she has made her husband see a doctor??

You just talk to her alone and say basically what you just stated.

Tell her how important she is to you, and that you are concerned because her husbands weight gain looks unnatural, and has he seen a Dr.

A dear friend will appreciate the concern.

Things like that are never easy. You don't want to hurt feelings, yet if something is indeed wrong with him you could be doing him a favor by pointing it out to her.

Maybe when you talk to her you could just ask in general how everyone is doing, feeling good and see if she says anything.  I most certainly would not do it thru e mail though.  You can read better into the situation by the inflection in her voice....

Use of a gun, too, would likely make the Sloot clan look hypocritical and dishonest. The Sloot bunch moves in circles where gun ownership and/or use is highly frowned upon, if not outright rejected. It would make them them "look bad" to their peers if it were known that "enlightened" Joran would stoop to owning a handgun... how BARBARIC, dahling. Makes him look kind of like one of those American Cowboy types that they all hate so much, ya know.

I have never discounted this factor in the case. VDS is worried about their social standing and that is part of the whole fabric of events here.

Did Deetch's article point out that the boys stood around, participated and took pictures?  The family was unwilling to prosecute because it would ruin the girl's reputation?

I would just preface it with ........This is not a criticism or a judgement but I am worried about your hubby, it's not jsut a few pounds like we have all put on he looks like he may have the symptoms of another aquaintence who has Thyroid disease.
