Remember too that when anyone is being interviewed they've got at least one and possibly two very bright lights shining directly in their face. Sometimes makes it hard to look directly at the cameera.
And if he was having trouble with his earpiece (like Dash said she was) the natural reaction is to look down while you put all your energy into listening.

Question:

Yesterday, somebody replied to me that the FBI was there because it's a kidnapping, kidnapping federal crime, hence the FBI.

Now, what I'm wondering is this: Does the FBI usually jump in a) between 24 - 48 hours of an adult's disappearance (Ihave 72 hours in my head. Could be from watching too much tv) and b) Do they jump in although there is not a clear-cut case for a 'kidnapping'. There has been no ransom note (that we know off), not a phone call (ditto), ANYTHING linking this to a kidnapping.

They respond when a US citizen has been victimized or is missing on foreign soil, but they can only assist and cannot be "in charge" of the investigation in another country.  Response from the FBI usually occurs in an adult missing persons case (unless an Amber Alert is issued for a missing child) within 24 hours if either the country it occured in requests assistance or,  if the case is in the US:

-  local law enforcement requests assistance;
-  local law enforcement has evidence (crossing state lines, etc) to point to a Federal offense in which case it becomes an FBI led investigation

If you read the transcript of Mickey's interview with MSNBC, he says when they brought Deepak in and put him in the cell next to him, he acted kinda cool and casual. Asked him if he'd seen the guys arrested on TV. Deepak said yeah, they were from Grenada. Right then Mickey knew Deepak had no idea who he was talking to. He played him until he got info out of him.

I was in Aruba May 29-June 3. I stayed at the Radisson and had a great time. The people were so friendly and made sure that we felt welcome. I walked to  the HI several times during my stay to look in the shops and look at hotels between ours and the HI. IT wasn't until I got home on Friday that I even knew anyone was missing.  I will return to Aruba next year.  My heart goes out to the HOlloway family, I just cannot imagine what they are going through right now.

I live outside of Atlanta, Red lives in Maine, Georgia. the northern most part of the state.
