Kira Trevino told her mother about two weeks before she was killed that she was thinking of moving out and was unsure about her relationship with her husband, according to a search warrant affidavit filed this week.

The information is among new details about the Trevino case included in five search warrant affidavits filed Tuesday, March 5, in Ramsey County District Court.
 ::snipping2::
On Feb. 21, Kira Trevino was working at the Mall of America, where she was a co-manager at Delia's clothing store. Jeffery Trevino said he went to the mall that afternoon and had coffee with his wife about
2 p.m. Later in the evening, they had dinner at Crave restaurant and then went to the Sky Deck Sports Grille & Lanes at the mall.
They returned to their Payne-Phalen home and watched a movie, Jeffery Trevino said. He said he walked Kira Trevino to her car at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 22 as she left to run errands.

When police searched the Trevino home in the 500 block of East Iowa Avenue, they found "copious amounts" of blood, including a large bloodstain in the shape of a human head and torso, according to the criminal complaint. There also was evidence that someone had tried to perform extensive cleanup.

The car's driver was also seen getting into a taxi, which traveled to the 600 block of East Iowa Avenue, less than a block from the couple's home, the complaint said.
 ::snipping2::
"Surveillance video recovered from this area showed a male wearing jeans, white tennis shoes and a black sweatshirt, with a distinct circle-type emblem or marking on the front" who was "walking from the area where the cab dropped him off to the driveway" of the Trevino's home, and then walking toward the garage, an affidavit said.
 ::snipping2::
That warrant was to search the home for a black hooded sweatshirt and white tennis shoes, along with hairbrushes, toothbrushes and clothing to get a possible DNA profile of Kira Trevino. A black hooded sweatshirt was found in the dining room, as were white tennis shoes in the master bedroom closet, the inventory receipt said.

just a note on military time
0100hrs = 1am
noon =1200hrs
midnite= 2400hrs

Wells Fargo Bank records show a debit card transaction on K.K.T’s card at 0213 hours on February 22 from the gas station at the corner of Larpenteur Avenue and the entrances to I35E, near the defendant’s home. This was the last time that her credit card was used. Surveillance video showed the white Cobalt as it arrived at the gas pumps at 0207 hours. The image is not clear enough to establish identity, but a male in gray pants and a gray hooded sweatshirt filled the car with gas and got back into the car. The car exited and went west toward the entrances to I35E, instead of east on Larpenteur, which is the most direct route to the defendant’s home

IMO this is why the LE feel they have a murderer in custody

On Monday, February 25, 2013, Investigators executed a search warrant at 570 E. Iowa, St. Paul. Investigators observed several freshly washed towels in a basket in front of the clothes dryer. The Arkansas Razorback sweatshirt, which the defendant said he was wearing on February 21, was hanging, freshly washed and air dried near the washer and dryer. Police saw two bleach-stained towels on the kitchen counter near a bottle of bleach spray cleaner. A mop and bucket were in the hallway outside of the main floor bathroom. Close inspection revealed blood spatter in the master bedroom, where the defendant said he and K.K.T. slept on Thursday night and Friday morning. Testing established that the blood was human blood. Forensic examiners found blood on the floor, box spring mattress, bed frame, book shelf, closet door, baseboard trim and west wall. Forensic scientists found evidence of extensive cleanup efforts, with furniture moved to hide evidence. Chemical testing revealed copious amounts of blood evidence inside the bedroom on multiple surfaces, on the kitchen floor and the main floor hallway outside of the bedroom. The BCA crime lab cut out a large section of the carpet in the master bedroom to examine the underside of the carpet. This examination revealed a large stain in the shape of a human head and torso. The stain tested positive for blood. This stain is situated near the west wall and the corner of the bed where blood spatter evidence was recovered. The wooden frame of the box spring in this area proved to be broken. Further chemical testing revealed additional large amounts of blood evidence in the main floor living room, hallway and bathroom as well as the landing at the top of the basement stairs, on the basement stairs, the basement floor and floor in the front of the washing machine in the laundry area. Investigators also found a carpet cleaner in the home. Examination revealed blood evidence on the wheels; and in the area where the brushes rotate, scientists found a substance consistent with clotted blood or human tissue.

Based on training and experience, a forensic scientist with the BCA opined that the blood spatter evidence is consistent with more than one forceful blow to the victim. The victim had to be bleeding prior to a subsequent blow which caused the pre-existing blood to spatter.

Prosecutors say Trevino was ready to flee country

2:36 PM, Mar 14, 2013   |

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Prosecutors say the St. Paul man accused of killing his wife was prepared to flee the country.

During a court appearance Thursday prosecutors said Jeffery Trevino made phone calls to family while in the Ramsey County Jail, telling them that his passport was located in a suitcase under his bed.

Trevino is being held in the Ramsey County Jail on charges of second degree murder for the death of his 30-year-old wife, Kira Trevino. Jeffery reported his wife missing on February 24, and investigators later found "copious amount of blood" in their St. Paul home.

It was also revealed in court on Thursday that, according to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the blood found in the home belongs to Kira.

Prosecutors charged Trevino with Kira's murder even though police have yet to find her body. Investigators say there was enough evidence in their home to conclude a death occured.

In search for Kira Trevino, family friend to continue efforts at Maplewood lake
Posted April 1, 2013, Updated April 2, 2013

A family friend of Kira Trevino's plans to continue his own search of Keller Lake on Tuesday, April 2, for the 30-year-old woman's body.

Mike Teige spearheaded efforts Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the ice-covered Maplewood lake, with volunteers using augers to drill holes in the ice and underwater cameras to search. He was back at his Elderon, Wis., home Monday and said he'd return to Keller Lake on Tuesday.

Trevino, of St. Paul, was last seen publicly Feb. 21. Her body hasn't been found, but her husband, Jeffery Trevino, was charged Feb. 28 with two counts of second-degree murder in his wife's death. A judge entered a not-guilty plea for the 39-year-old man Friday.

Teige said he has a crew of volunteers to help him
 ::snipping2::
Teige estimates he'll begin his work at Keller Lake about noon or 1 p.m. Tuesday. He said people with equipment who want to help can contact him at 715-551-5608.

"That's the spot," Teige said of his belief that Kira Trevino's body is there. "I'm not going to waver from Keller Lake."

Teige said he and his volunteers drilled 1,200 to 1,500 holes in the lake, and he'll focus on the southern part of the lake Tuesday. "We want to drill 3,000 more holes," he said.

Law enforcement has

conducted searches at Keller Lake with divers and cadaver dogs, with the dogs most recently used Wednesday. The dogs have shown interest in areas of the lake, indicating possible human remains.

Teige said a cadaver dog out Monday, but not with law enforcement, also showed interest in an area that Teige said he's focusing on.

Volunteer searchers found a pillow with blood matching Trevino's DNA near the lake.

A woman also reported to police that she saw two men on frozen Keller Lake early Feb. 22. She said they were carrying something that appeared to be the size of a human, according to the criminal complaint against Jeffery Trevino.

Kira Trevino missing: Police seek access to husband's Facebook account
April 3, 2013

A friend of Jeffery Trevino told police that Trevino had recently included the initials NWNP on Facebook posts, and that they may mean "No Witnesses No Proof," a search warrant affidavit said.

The affidavit, made public Wednesday, April 3, was in support of a search warrant to obtain records from Facebook, which is based in Palo Alto, Calif.

Jeffery Trevino, 39, is being held in the Ramsey County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail, facing charges that he murdered his wife, 30-year-old Kira Steger Trevino. Her body has not been found, but she is presumed dead.

Investigators obtained a similar warrant for access to the Facebook accounts of Kira Steger Trevino and Matthew Roff. Roff lived with the couple at their home in the 500 block of East Iowa Avenue.

John Conard, Trevino's attorney, said he had not seen the search warrants.

"We're continuing to evaluate evidence as the prosecution continues to disclose it," he said. He declined further comment.

Internet searches of the acronym NWNP turn up "No War No Peace," "No Way Nuclear Pacifists" and "Neverwinter Nights Podcast." Neverwinter Nights is a series of role-playing games.

Police believe the Facebook communication of Jeffery Trevino that they're seeking would have happened before he was in custody, said Howie Padilla, police spokesman. He was arrested Feb. 26.
 ::snipping2::
According to an amended criminal complaint in the case, filed March 22, a woman told police she saw two men on Keller Lake in Maplewood early Feb. 22. She said they were carrying "something that ... appeared the size of a person but wrapped in something."

Upon learning of the tip, the missing woman's family organized a search of the area; searchers found a plastic bag containing a bloody pillow and other items. The blood matched the woman's DNA, prosecutors said.

Police went to the lake with cadaver dogs and divers. According to the amended complaint, the dogs "reacted positively to a hole cut in the ice."

"This may indicate a dead human body in the lake," the complaint said. Divers found no signs of the woman.

Regarding other items found in searches, police will look into them to determine whether they are connected to the investigation, Padilla said. "We're not going to elaborate where in the process those tests may be or the result of them at this point," he said.

The lake is nearly two miles from the Trevino home in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood of St. Paul.

Kira Trevino missing: Search wraps up at Keller Lake; more searches to follow
April 6, 2013

About 40 people gathered Saturday, April 6, to comb the chain of lakes around Keller Lake in Maplewood for signs of Kira Trevino, the St. Paul woman who has been missing since February.

The search began about 10 a.m. at Gervais Lake. Volunteers searched Kohlman Lake as well and walked through ditches, ravines, swamps and under bridges toward the dam that leads into Round Lake.

The melting snow has helped move the search along, said Jodie Leko, a search organizer.
 ::snipping2::

Leko said additional searches will be planned for other areas and as they continue, more volunteers are needed.

A search is planned at 10 a.m. Sunday at Round Lake in Maplewood and will continue at noon at Lake Phalen in St. Paul. More information, including locations to park and meet, is at facebook.com/HelpFindKiraStegerTrevino.

Jeffery Trevino is being held at the Ramsey County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail. He has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges in his wife's death.

A tentative trial date is set for May 28 in Ramsey County.

Body of Kira Trevino Found Battered, Nude

http://kstp.com/news/stories/S3029076.shtml?cat=1

Quote
Kira Trevino, whose body was found this week in the Mississippi River, suffered a head wound, broken bones, facial bruising and cuts to her liver, according to an initial autopsy.

Those details were released Friday in Ramsey County District Court documents, requesting an extension for a pretrial in a murder case against Trevino's husband, Jeffrey Trevino.

On Thursday, police confirmed that a body found this week in the Mississippi River in downtown St. Paul was the remains of 30-year-old Kira Trevino, who has been missing since Feb. 21. Trevino has been presumed dead for months, according to police.

An initial autopsy of her body revealed that she had a broken finger, bruising inside her upper lip and cuts to her liver, according to court documents. More examination will be needed to determine if the injuries were caused before or after her death.

Trevino also had partially digested food in her stomach, which may lead to a more precise time of death, according to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner.

Her body was found unclothed and without any jewelry, which likely was an attempt by her husband to conceal her identity, according to state prosecutors.

Authorities responded to the scene and a body was pulled from the river and taken to the medical examiner. Officials initially said it was not clear if the body was that of a man or a woman, the station reports
