Cops search for missing Oakland woman Thursday, March 27, 2008
Last Updated Thursday March 27, 2008, EDT 8:57 PM

OAKLAND – Borough police are searching for a 49-year-old woman who left home on Easter and has not been seen since.

Cathy Ann Debono drove away in her white Toyota Camry with license plate NTV96F about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday but was not carrying her purse or cell phone, Debono’s husband told police. She has not been seen at work since last Friday.

Sgt. Chris Eldridge said police are investigating Debono’s disappearance as a missing persons case.

“There is no reason for us to suspect foul play at this time,” Eldridge wrote in an email.

Debono is 5 feet 3 inches tall and 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has a tattoo of a bird on her right shoulder. Police asked that anyone with information on her whereabouts call 201-337-6171.

Dive team in Ringwood may have found body of missing woman last seen in Oakland
NORTH JERSEY

Cathy Ann DeBono
An unofficial source is reporting tonight that a body has been found in the Wanaque Reservoir in Ringwood, and that it may be that of a local woman who went missing in 2008.

According to the source, a dive team was practicing at the reservoir today when they found a submerged 2004 Toyota Corolla. In the back seat they found a garbage bag with human remains inside.

The car, the source said, was registered to an Oakland woman who was reported missing five years ago.

According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, Cathy Ann DeBono, then 49, was last seen in Oakland on March 23, 2008.

The source said it is not known if the body is that of the missing woman's.

Investigators are treating the scene as a possible homicide case, said the source.

If the body found in the car is in fact Cathy Debono, her friends and family will now know where she is and can lay her to rest.  And from the description in the article, there is foul play involved.  I'm hoping there will be justice.

Thank you for the update Festa

DeBono was last seen driving her white Toyota Camry with license plate number N T V 9 6 F.

That plate number was visible on the car removed from the reservoir Wednesday night as authorities hoisted it onto a flatbed tow truck.

The Passaic County prosecutor says the scene, in the area of Greenwood Lake Turnpike and Beech Road, is still under investigation.

If this account is true -- she assuredly didn't drive herself in the reservoir.
