To huntsy: If Joran did something bad to Natalee, then no bonds of friendship are that strong. No bonds of friendship are strong enough to go to jail along with him, especially if you have any kind of conscience. Why go to jail to protect a sociopath who might have harmed a lovely young woman? And if they believed that no harm had come to Natalee, then why go along with a phoney story? Why not just tell the truth and let Joran take a slap on the wrist. The problem is that the only reason that Joran would NEED a cover story is when he doesn't DESERVE a cover story. So, the single perp theory just doesn't hold water, as long as all 3 cooked up the security guard story.

TO PROFESSOR  Friends especially young maybe even from a different area have covered up many things for other friends over the years.  They probably really didn't think he did anything to harm her.

Afternoon All..
I have agreed with Professor's theory pretty much all along...(date rape drug and all 3 commit rape at lightlouse) In fact I believe they have done it before, and when better to do it then on the last night on the island for the victims. The girl leaves the next morning, perhaps not really sure what happened and by the time she's home doesn't report it. My theory varies from the professor's in the following way: The police have taken 2 vehicles from VDS's house, an SUV and a Jeep....I believe one of those was used to bring the body somewhere off road to dispose of. I think that Nat was raped by the three at lighthouse and then they did go to marriot where the brothers dropped off VDS and Nat (he would get her to hotel) There, behind the marriot I think that either VDS tried to rape her again and she fought or even threatened him now to tell friends/police. VDS killed her and that's when he contacted Deepak ("I have to tell you something") Then either 1, or both of the brothers came back and took VDS and Nat to VDS's house where they switched into jeep to go off road to a remote location to bury Nat. This would explain the "something bad happened" and the story now from Deepak of dropping off at marriot. He's getting scared and little dribs and drabs of truth are coming out.

also.....if you can, can you let us know of any roads closed, such as for construction, washed out due to recent storms etc.....

we could use the mileage chart on a map to come up with drive times between places unless you know the times it takes to drive them at normal drive speeds....

We don't know that they didn't owe each other something. I also stand by the Friendship thing. It depends on how strong the bond is. I know it sounds weird. We are all wired differently. On the other side of the coin maybe Joran told them he would lie to take down all of them as well as himself.

I was the one that originally said there is always a thread of truth in someones lies.  Thinking about the lighthouse....flipping it on its head...maybe they enticed Nat to go to the southern lighthouse.  If she had been there all week no doubt she had ALREADY seen the California Lighthouse, however, even though it is not too picturesque, she might have been entice with the idea that there is another light house.  One only the locals know about.  One the rarely seen. etc.

Once again - I'm with Dragonfly - i will even go so far as to say, MAYBE Joran didn't mean for anything bad to happen to NH.  Maybe it got rough.  Then once it was done - he (being young and scared and presumably never having killed anyone before) panicked.   Then he thought he would get his followers to go in on a story with him.  They probably meant what they said when they told the Security Guard "they thought she'd end up at a crack house somewhere.

Another thing I haven't heard anything about is whether the brothers spent any real time around Natalee.  It is never stated that they were in the casinos in the days leading up to this, only Joran.  It is never stated that they were at the bar that night with Joran and Nat.  IF they knew nothing about Nat and what kind of girl she is, it is entirely possible that the only impression they had of her is what they saw in the car (possibly drugged) and what Joran may have told them.  He could have very easily covered his a-- with them after this happened by talking about what a drugged up slut (AND I DON'T BELIEVE THAT, SO PLEASE NO ONE JUMP ON ME) she was and how now she's missing after he had his tryst with her and she was probably out drugged up somewhere.  Why would these brothers not believe that coming from their friend and cover for him (hence the comment "thought she would turn up in some crack house")?  Teenage boys talk about thier "conquests" all the time.  Maybe Joran went overboard with them making her out to be a person that she wasn't so they would cover for him and assume he was telling the truth.

Professor, you gotta think like a guy and a teenager!!!  This is so typical in all kinds of crimes...that's why detectives are detailing what you do in this exact situation!!  People cover for others everyday!  It's not alien...and especially for teenage guys...they, on the most part, do the "guy" thing...until they're implicated and then all bets are off!
