Police searching for missing teenage girl from Glenburn
May 14, 2013

GLENBURN, Maine — Police are investigating the reported disappearance of a 15-year-old girl from Glenburn.

Nichole Cable was last seen on Route 221 in her hometown on Sunday, according to Penobscot County Sheriff Glenn Ross.

Ross said Tuesday his department is working with numerous other agencies in the area to find Cable. No other information is being released while police continue to investigate.

Cable’s parents, Jason and Kristine Willey, have turned to social media in hopes that their daughter will return home safely. A Facebook group, “Bring Nichole Cable Home,” had 282 members as of 4 p.m. Tuesday.

“We have not heard any word from her through social media or friends,” Jason Willey said Tuesday. “Her phone’s been shut off. We just don’t know what else to do.”

Police agencies as far north as Ellsworth and stretching south to Scarborough have also shared information including Cable’s description on Facebook.

Cable has light brown hair and blue eyes and weighs 90 pounds, according to Ross. She was last seen wearing a pair of jeans and a pink sweatshirt, her father said.

She was last seen at 9 p.m. on Sunday, said Chief Deputy Troy Morton.

[Bangor Daily News – Mother makes emotional plea for return of missing Glenburn teen.[/b]

http://bangordailynews.com/2013/05/15/news/bangor/mother-makes-emotional-plea-for-return-of-missing-glenburn-teen/

Quote
“I would like to say, ‘Nichole, we love you and if you’re scared because you ran away — you’re not in trouble. It’s OK,’” Cable’s mother, Kristine Willey, said at a Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office press conference with her husband, Jason Willey, standing beside her. “If somebody has her — I don’t care [what happened] — take her to a gas station or a park. I don’t know what else to say. I’m waiting for you to call me and I love you.”

Quote
“This is my daughter,” Willey said, showing the pictures to members of the media. “If you see her, please let the authorities know. Help me bring her home.”

The parents requested they not be questioned by the media, Morton said.

There are 45 law enforcement personnel — federal, state, county and municipal — working the missing person case, Morton said.

“We want the public to know we are using every available resource to locate Nichole,” Morton said, later noting that Maine wardens were conducting a ground search for the Old Town High School student.

Cpl. John McDonald of the Maine Warden Service said a search was taking place in Glenburn. The exact location was not disclosed.

I thought if you used photos/images etc. here that you gave credit to where the image was found?  There is a lot of work to created the flyers, post them and maintain the site.  At least give the site credit for their work.

Opps... post entered before I could add that the authorities are looking for a truck (similar to the one pictured).

http://www.wabi.tv/news/40236/

Deputies are asking for the public's help find a black Ford Ranger type truck. If you saw one matching that description in the area of Route 221 near Route 43 and Rogers Market or near West Old Town between 8pm Sunday and 2am Monday, call police.

" "This is only a vehicle that we have interest in due to information that's been given to us. It may or may not have been seen in the area so we cannot draw any inferences that this is the suspect's vehicle , it may or may not be. We need to rule it in or rule it out," said Penobscot County Sheriff, Glenn Ross.

Police Continue to Search for Missing 15 Year Old Nichole Cable Missing Since May 12, 2013 in Glenburn, ME … Looking for Black Ford Ranger Type Truck

http://scaredmonkeys.com/2013/05/18/police-continue-to-search-for-missing-15-year-old-nichole-cable-missing-since-may-12-2013-in-glenburn-me-looking-for-black-ford-ranger-type-truck/

The area is so remote, do not have the benefit of areas that have numerous surveillance cameras. But I would think that some one would have had to have seen something.

Since 1971, seven Maine children reported missing have not been found

Posted May 17, 2013, at 7:53 p.m.

“Missing children [who aren’t soon located], and there are only a handful, go back 40 years,” McCausland said.

Six children in addition to Cable have been reported missing in Maine since 1971 and have not yet been found, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and media reports.

Aside from Cable, the most recent case of a child missing for a significant length of time is Ayla Reynolds, who was last seen 18 months ago.

Reynolds was 20 months old when she was reported missing from her father’s Waterville home on Dec. 17, 2011. McCausland said on Friday there have been no new developments in the case. Police continue to investigate her disappearance, although they have stated they do not think she will be found alive.

Ayla Reynolds’ disappearance is not the only open missing child case in Maine.

Douglas Charles Chapman, then 3, of Alfred was reported missing June 2, 1971; Cathy Marie Moulton, 16, of Portland was reported missing Sept. 24, 1971; Kurt Ronald Newton, 4, of Manchester was reported missing Sept. 1, 1975; Bernard Ross, 18, of Ashland was reported missing May 12, 1977; and Kimberly Ann Moreau, 17, of Jay was reported missing May 11, 1986.

Chapman was last seen playing by a sandpile about 25 yards from his home in Alfred while his mother was inside on the phone and his father was at work, according to a Maine State Police website dedicated to missing Mainers.

Moulton was last seen in downtown Portland, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s website.

Newton wandered away from his family’s campsite at the Chain of Ponds Public Reserve Land near Coburn Gore on the Quebec border, according to media reports. He was last seen riding his tricycle at the campsite while his mother was out of sight washing muddy shoes.

Moreau was last seen in the company of an individual she met earlier in the day and foul play is suspected, the state police website states.

Two older Maine teenagers who disappeared years ago also remain unaccounted for.

Absolutely the important thing IS finding this young lady indeed.  But I am sure you are also aware of how much work and effort goes into helping to find the missing and how often it is done without even a "thank you".   A little credit to the maker of the poster goes a long way for the hours spent working to keep the missing in the public eye.    Wink

Thank you.  Also, thank you for posting the picture of the truck.  I can't seem to find any way to make the pictures show up.
