Stay safe and warm.

Good morning Monkeys!

A visit to a warm climate would be most welcome.  We experienced a five day power failure from a huge ice storm Christmas week and this morning temp. is -21 c.  Had enough of winter already.  Blech!

Keep warm friends.
Holy Crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would freeze Hope you have a fireplace.

No Fireplace.  Friends that had them faired much better.  A lovely neighbor of ours got a generator in the last two days and shared it with us.  Saved our bacon as households went down by the fifth day to -1 to -4 c.

Hubs is researching generators and we will be prepared if it ever happens again.

How on earth do you keep your pipes from freezing with no heat source?

How nice you got use of a generator in the last two days!

If you all lose power very often, a generator is a good investment.

Hi Brandi.  We had hot water throughout the power outage.  We have a gas water heater.
Other folks I know who left their homes, drained their water pipes.

-23c tomorrow morning and I have an appointment. Darn!

Can,

So glad your pipes did not freeze.

Worried about ours freezing and we have full power and heat in the house. It's just so frigid cold, 10ºF right now, and not getting above freezing for about 36 hours.

I lived in the country years ago with pipes in the exterior walls and they froze so many times. Burst also. I used to stay up all night to flush the toilet and try to keep the water running.

Guess all that just made me a little gun shy when it comes to really cold weather and pipes freezing.

You have my sympathy for having to go out in the frigid cold tomorrow! Bundle up.

Good brrrr morning!
Yes, it is extremely cold!  I am blessed with a warmish house, running water, a doggie that likes to cuddle, etc.
Hope everyone is fairing as best as they can.
Brandi, I remember running a few drops of water through our faucets when we were young.  Frozen pipes happened a lot.
A note about doggies too, have them microchiped too.  It doesn't cost a lot and collars and tags can come off.  Lots of dog have been returned to their owners because of microchips.
Blessings.

WooHoo    Up to a sweltering 9 degrees. Looking for that bathing suit.

In Gadsden the natural gas company just went out and shut off 400 to 500 customers because the company  installed a new pipe that can't handle the demand for gas and apparently it is dangerous to have it turned on whenever they start back up. Good planning on their part....not. Feeling sorry for everyone without heat.

They were scheduled to hook up the cameras tomorrow but now put off till next week. No one needs to be doing this non essential work outside. I look like Nanook of the north going to the barn to feed and water the donks and feel so bad for all the animals that don't have access to shelter or unfrozen water.

On the bright side...Jazz and Bailey are loving it. They race around and play with each other without letup.

Everyone keep warm and safe.

I have not left my house since Sunday! Have no place really to go so why bother? I have rather enjoyed icy actually. Sometimes we need to slow down and enjoy doing not a damn thing! Lol.

I am trying to stay warm - finally left my house tonight after last leaving Saturday night - still cold but at least the roads were drivable - besides, either the kids or I had to go - and since they can't drive I decided it should be me! Smile

Really have enjoyed the extra time off with them - just wish it was a bit warmer so they could go out and play - they are getting a little stir crazy and they have tomarrow off too . . .

Hi my friends,

Been catching up over the last week.  I don't care what the name of the thread is - I will hunt y'all down!!

Went to the gulf coast for a week - had some work to do there.  Was dreary weather and came back to Birmingham to the COLD.

Tonight it is 19 here and it is 19 in Banff Canada.

The mutts LOVE the cold.  It is the Husky in them.   They are like pups again - romping and barking outside in the cold air.  When they play, I can see their breath!

Now I am freezing on the couch, and Chubbie is laying on my feet to keep them warm.

Been reading bout all of you - prayers for each of you and your individual struggles, as we all have our own.

That's what makes this thread so cool - we can share and we can accept.

Peace out - cad and Chubbie

Caddy so good to hear from you. Glad all is going well. This cold weather is every where but West coast and the bottom half  of Florida. We have warmed up here in North Texas to a more normal temp. Glad to hear the fur babies are enjoying the weather.

How's the house deal coming along?

Thanks, GE!

We are still pursuing the house, we really want it!

Gonna take some time though. It is bank-owned and the company they hired to sell it is nuts. They countered at a higher price the second time around than the first.

Gonna stay the course and keep working on it. We have a really good agent, and he is giving us good advice.

We really, really hope we can get it.

I HATE the cold weather - I would rather have it 100 degrees and 100 percent humitity.  Unfortunatly, I was born here so I have lots of warm clothing!  Still hate it thought.

Along those lines, my husband had an employee in this weather that does not OWN a coat.  She is 20 and not too sharp apparently! (I love her, she is sweet). But she was running from her car to the building with just a sweater on. My sweet hubs gave her his extra coat to use. Who the heck lives in Michigan and does not own a winter coat???

Yikes TBM    I can't imagine living any where were it gets cold without a coat. I had to take a kitty to the vet yesterday and it was in the high 30's. I had sweater, coat and gloves and boots on. Is she from there or from Calif or Florida? Glad your hubs gave her a coat.
