Good morning everyone!

Things are about the same here.  Connie is still in the nursing home and tomorrow has an appointment with the ortho surgeon.  I will be meeting her there.  Will know how to proceed after that.  Thinking positive thoughts!

Hope all monkeys are safe and warm!

I'm hoping and praying for the very best for Connie and for you too, Sister.  Lots of positive thoughts flowing!  I believe once her condition can be fully assessed, her immediate needs addressed, there can be plans laid to help with the longer term.  I'm hoping and praying there will be resources available.  Thinking of you both.

Hi Cookie!

I am chilled all the time, unless it is spring or summer and I am sitting in the sun. LOL

Just a bit rainy here today, not cole enough to snow. Thank goodness.

Good to see Tevye and Trimm pop in for a hello too!

Oh, oh Klaas.........Can hear it now................90's in January only means one thing "EarthQuake Weather"......Don't know why that saying got so popular.  Living there for over 50+ years any season was quake weather.

Hi sister, I'm always around, just keep myself out of trouble by just reading.

Hubby is in the mid stages of dementia and having a rough time right now, don't know how much longer I will be able to deal with it, I'm not a very patient person.  I guess its just a little too soon after having had to deal with my dad a little over 3 years ago and knowing the outcome is quite wearing..  He's not in the best of health and not much in the way of help in my small town.  Take it a day at a time, about all we can do as so many of us are dealing with our loved ones with issues these days!

Anyway on a brighter note, like our new name in here but I do miss JSM.  Leastwise we live close enough to have spent some memorable time with her and CC personally.  Weather has been so undesirable this past year is hard to plan a get-together.  Hopefully when they finally finish all the road construction and get our highways back to driveable conditions GE and I may be able to venture over their way........I know I'm only talking 40 miles but to us old lazy gals feels like a road trip!

Having some serious computer problems here.

I just typed out a long reply to this post, Babs, but my pc rebooted itself while I was writing it and I lost everything.

So I am just going to tell you how sorry I am that your husband is suffering with dementia.

I know it is so very hard on you and him. So very hard.

My heart and thoughts go out to you and I really hope you can find some support.

I'll post more if/when my pc gets fixed.

One Day at a time Babs. That's all any of us can do. You know I am only a phone call away. Are you saying we are getting old?  Any more anything more than 10 miles is a road trip. Just got to looking and hubs eye appointment is almost here again. And it does feel like a road trip bye the time we get home.

Got that right GE.......Just thinking about it, except for my couple of 20 mile runs to your house I haven't even been out of my little burg in over a year.....Thankgoodness for Wally World up the street or we'd really be in sad shape.

Thankyou Brandi for the kind words, at least after having to deal with my dad I have the basics down on recognizing the ups and downs with this terrible disease.  Thankfully dad had a really great shrink that helped me more than he could my dad.  Not saying I ever got to the point that I could cope with dad but at least I knew what was happening to him.  Hubs is another story altogether...........One day at a time..........for sure GE........

Good morning Monkeys!

A visit to a warm climate would be most welcome.  We experienced a five day power failure from a huge ice storm Christmas week and this morning temp. is -21 c.  Had enough of winter already.  Blech!

Keep warm friends.
Holy Crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would freeze Hope you have a fireplace.

No Fireplace.  Friends that had them faired much better.  A lovely neighbor of ours got a generator in the last two days and shared it with us.  Saved our bacon as households went down by the fifth day to -1 to -4 c.

Hubs is researching generators and we will be prepared if it ever happens again.

How on earth do you keep your pipes from freezing with no heat source?

How nice you got use of a generator in the last two days!

If you all lose power very often, a generator is a good investment.

Hi Brandi.  We had hot water throughout the power outage.  We have a gas water heater.
Other folks I know who left their homes, drained their water pipes.

-23c tomorrow morning and I have an appointment. Darn!

Can,

So glad your pipes did not freeze.

Worried about ours freezing and we have full power and heat in the house. It's just so frigid cold, 10ºF right now, and not getting above freezing for about 36 hours.

I lived in the country years ago with pipes in the exterior walls and they froze so many times. Burst also. I used to stay up all night to flush the toilet and try to keep the water running.

Guess all that just made me a little gun shy when it comes to really cold weather and pipes freezing.

You have my sympathy for having to go out in the frigid cold tomorrow! Bundle up.

I see why you're gun shy.  Aren't you gad you're not living in that country home now.  We watch our son's cottage for same thing, though hubs takes measures to prevent it.  So far, so good.

Our temps have come down now, thank goodness.

Hi my friends,

Been catching up over the last week.  I don't care what the name of the thread is - I will hunt y'all down!!

Went to the gulf coast for a week - had some work to do there.  Was dreary weather and came back to Birmingham to the COLD.

Tonight it is 19 here and it is 19 in Banff Canada.

The mutts LOVE the cold.  It is the Husky in them.   They are like pups again - romping and barking outside in the cold air.  When they play, I can see their breath!

Now I am freezing on the couch, and Chubbie is laying on my feet to keep them warm.

Been reading bout all of you - prayers for each of you and your individual struggles, as we all have our own.

That's what makes this thread so cool - we can share and we can accept.

Peace out - cad and Chubbie

Hi Cadi.  Have a great niece that moved to Banff  recently.  She's having a ball on the slopes.  Oh to be young

I hear you on the road trip.  About to leave for one now, to pick up my Mom and bring her here to spend the night, after a visit to her husband at the nursing home.

My thoughts are with you as you journey through the caregiving process, once again.
Do you have any avenues that you haven't explored yet, as to support in your area?
