Morning Monkeys

Another early morning. Have to take granddaughter to work again today. Has to be there at 6 today and tomorrow at 7. Will be so happy when she gets her license and insurance so she can take herslef. Early mornings are not my cup of tea.

Hope everyone's doing okay, and staying warm. Continued prayers for all in need.  an angelic monkey

Oh,  GE, I feel your pain. (From one night person to another!)

Too bad your granddaughter doesn't work nights!

VERY cold here still ... been below freezing for over 24 hours and not going above freezing (barely) until tomorrow. Was below 0º last night and just 16º right now, with the sun shining! Lots of snow and ice out there. It's a frozen world here!

Calling for snow/ice/rain this weekend.

But so far, our heat pump has been doing it's laborious job of keeping our house warm and the water is still running through our pipes!

I think we have broken many records this past week with temp lows.

But we're doing ok! Panda loved running in the snow at first. Now, she goes out, does her business, chases a bird or two and promptly comes back in! I have been feeding the birds since it snowed on Monday. They have seemed to appreciate that!

Hoping everyone is doing well. And wishing more monkeys would check in and post more!

Hopefully spring will get here for you sooner than later. Good for Panda going out and doing her business and coming back in. Can't say I blame her.   We have had a mild winter. A couple cold days but for the most part in the 30's/40's and then up to the 60's & 70's. But starting Sunday we are suppose to have snow, icy rain etc Sunday night and Monday. Then back up to the 40's/ 50's Weird weather. I hope the weatherman is right. As I have to take Hubs for his eye appointment Tuesday and that's a 60 mile drive one way.

I like when granddaughter goes in about 4 and gets off at 10. Her moms picks her up. I picked her up at 4 today and tomorrow just have to take her. It really is hard to get up early when you don't go to bed until late.

I am with you Brandi I wish more Monkeys would check in.

Good morning! I have been reading but not checking in. Brandi - if it gets below 15 or so may want to kick over to the aux heating  = that is about the lowest it is efficient to run the heat pump. Ours has been off for a couple of weeks - yesterday we got up to 20!!!! Got the shorts and flip flops out!  Another wind chill warning for today into tonight. I tell you, love these kids, but they need to go back to school!  I think they miss the routine too.

I am still laid up with the stupid leg. Been since October when I hurt it, and December when I finally dragged my butt into the doc. I have a Achilles tear. Just partial thank goodness, but seems to have been caused by or caused some tendinitis. The ortho who my doc sent me to is worthless. Did the PT and the cast, now I have, by his words, exhausted the conservative treatment. So he is referring me to another ortho - which I can not get into until March 12th. Meanwhile, I am supposed to be taking it easy. Kinda over that. May just go back to life and see what happens.  I am trying to be a good patient but am sort of over no one doing any thing. Monkey Devil!

Here is an old monkey......checking in.

I am now in the deep south and today we are going to 76.....so hard to believe.  I have been watching the temps around the country.  The snow has been amazing.  Now I understand why older folks head to Florida or Arizona.  It sure is tough to shovel snow.

Prayers to all who need them.

Mere! So good to see you in the Monkey Playground!!

I had to giggle at your comment about older folks moving to warmer climes. I never understood that when I was younger. LOL

It got above freezing finally and the sun is shining today, after some sleet that turned to rain. It's 42º right now and I went outside without a coat or sweater to feed the birds (the ground is still snow-covered) and I was quite comfortable!

Calling for a high of 35º tomorrow with a low of 10º! So the extreme cold (for here in VA) is not over quite yet. As you can see by my avatar, I am so ready for Spring!

Oh my gosh, TBM! I am speechless learning about your leg problem. I have no experience whatsoever with Achilles tears, so I can only give you my sympathies. That sounds like a very long time to have to suffer an injury without progress. I am so sorry you are dealing with this and hope you'll get some healing there soon!

About our heat pump, it has done a great job keeping our house up to temp throughout all this extreme cold. We keep the thermostat set to 68º and stay quite comfortable inside. It has been running a lot though! We do not have any auxiliary or backup heat source here. That's just the way it was installed. Maybe in more moderate climates, they don't use backup heat sources with heat pumps. Dunno.

Hoping you get some relief soon from your leg!

Yikes TBM   Don't you just love when the docs tell you take it easy. I know you are busy with the family. But sometimes you just have to slow down. As much as we don't want to. I feel your frustration to have it heal or get it fixed sooner than later. But my understanding is that either way is a very slow progress. Prayers it heals it's self sooner than later.

Hi Mere

Great to see you. Glad you are doing well. The snow is wonderful to look at, but to have to drive in it, let a lone have to shovel it. Not so much. Here in North Texas we have had a mild winter up to this point. Have the winter blast coming in. Dropping down into the 20's here. At first they said snow now it's just icy rain/sleet. Not fun. Have to call and cancel hubs eye appointment for Tuesday. The highways will be to icy to make the drive. If it were close I might do it. But it's to far. They just don't have the equipment around here to take care of all the roads.

Brandi I laughed at going out to feed the birds at 42 degrees and being quite comfortable. My younger brother tells me that all the time.  We are getting icy rain tonight and tomorrow and maybe into Tuesday. The good thing here is it's only for a few days and not weeks.  Stay warm.

Have you been in a cast since December?  If so, that's nasty.  Particularly when you have children to care for.  Must be so frustrating.  Hope the specialist you're seeing on the 12th can help you.

   Hi Cady.
it's been a cold, hunkerin' down kind of winter here.  Folks are doing a lot of grumbling
about the continued below minus temps.  No too bad today. -13c

Hi GE - Hope you and family are well.  Sorry you couldn't make the trip to hubs eye doctor due to ice storms.
Thanks for posting JSM and CC's wedding pic's.  JSM's pic (praying hands) depict so accurately the importance and devoutness she has always placed in marriage in her church, imo.  Bless her heart and CC's for his understanding.
