Hi Monkeys Sad news tonight.  I lost my sweet nephew tonight.   ::MonkeyTears::He had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  I will miss him. He was with us much longer than any of the doctors thought. Still knowing he would be leaving us before he should. It's so had to think he has passed. I know he is in a better place. It's still hurts. My heart breaks for my brother.  Rest in Peace David. Love you Auntie

So sorry to hear your sweet nephew has passed.  May he rest in peace.

Condolences to your brother.  His heart must be broken.

Love to you Greeneyes.  xoxo   an angelic monkey

Hi everyone,

Still have a cold and can hardly talk.  Some would call that an answer to prayer.
The trip to the mountains was very nice -- lots of fall colors, warmish days, cool evenings.  Was going to ride the ski lift to the top of the mountain, have lunch at the nice restaurant, and ride back down -- they closed it the day before, only open on the weekends now.  Was going to take a nice train ride through the mountains, over covered bridges, in the tunnels, have a nice lunch and come back  -- they closed it the day before, only open on the weekends now.  Was going to go on a helicopter ride over some lakes -- they closed it the day before, only open on the weekends now.  Was going hiking in a national park -- they closed it the day before, God only knows when it will be open again.  I received 16 phone calls while I was away -- and no I am not the damn important.  So I stayed 2 extra days and disconnected my phone and did some walking in State Parks.  It was beautiful.
Last Sunday I am sitting on my deck with Belle and two women came walking down the road with two dogs, not on leash, Belle saw them and was ready to eat them up as they were in the yard (the dogs that is), and I grabbed her collar and hung on for dear life as my 66 lb. dog went into attack mode and I smashed my face in the wire/wooden gate on the deck and I now look like someone attacked me with a 2x4 and won (and it really hurts).
A funeral this weekend, a wedding renewal vows (after 10 years) . . . other than that . . .
But, we are blessed.

Sister, I'm glad you took the two extra days in the mountains for some solitude.
Sorry you are battling a cold and now a face that hurts.  Hope it heals quickly and you feel better soon.

Can Thank you so much for your kind words. Now the shock of Davids passing has worn off the reality of what needs to be done is sitting in. Brother is hanging in there.  an angelic monkey

I'm taking the weekend off. My sister and I picked up 100 bales of hay and unloaded and stacked them. Still have to get 50 for her goats but I'm wiped out.

Sister
Someone gave me a collar for Bailey that has a built in handle. Might be helpful with Belle. Because Bailey is deaf it is sometimes hard to get her attention to give a hand signal but I can grab the handle to get the attention I need. (He's still growing and is over 160 lbs now) I'll ask Libby where she got the collar.

Keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers.

I think the top of his head has been in the sun too long; it looks like he is getting a sunburn!  He better get SPF 50 for next time.  Quick Inky, turn over and stick your feet in the sun for awhile.  Ooh, that sound like the end of a bad joke.  What is worse than a/n ___________ with _____________  ____________?  An octopus with sunburnt feet!

Check out these photos.  They are amazing!  This one is cute, but many of them will leave you with a sense of wonder and awe and gratitude that there is such a thing as a computer that those of us who may be homebound, without funds for a vacation, sick, disabled, or merely afraid to get on a plane can visit without leaving our homes.  Enjoy!

CC  You are a  And don't you check your mail?

Sorry GE.  Been giving updates on FB.  Ma is in inpatient rehab for the next 4-8 weeks depending on how well she does repairing her busted femur.  Hope the rehab staff can stand her for that long.

No doubt they will make out just fine.  CC, glad to hear she is healing.  That is painful, maybe Kick Boxing classes are not for her.  Just sayin'.

Hi all.
Mom is visiting from Yakima Wa. We are on our way to O'hare to fly down to Memphis. We have relatives there. Tomorrow we go to Graceland to Elvis house.
Hope everyone is doing well. My world is groovy.
Wish our government would get their Shite together. Really I wish they all would resign or at least get booted out...

Well today I finally did it. I now have a small economical car. I gave my sister the Durango and that just left me with the truck so off I went to buy a car. I got a Jeep Liberty...cute. It's black outside and dark grey inside (Darth Vader comes to mind) I'll probably save a fortune on gas but only one big dog at a time can be transported due to the size of the vehicle.

Hope everyone is doing great.

Well, I have a bit of a problem.

Brandi is now a few months away from 14 years old and deaf.

That's not the problem. She is a happy girl, and we communicate well with her. Her tail is almost always wagging. Very happy girl.

UNTIL .... I have to go out of the house. Just me. Apparently, she has clung to me as her pack leader, and now she just goes nuts when I am not at home. Whining, barking (she almost never barks otherwise) and pacing near the door I exited from. Son and hubby being home makes no difference. They cannot console her much, although she is very close to them, always has been.

I did more reading on separation anxiety (which she has had ever since we rescued her, but not to this extent, when others are at home with her!) and none address solutions for a senior dog who is deaf.

I simply cannot stay at home all day every day. But I just hate her going through this anxiety while I am out. And it's no fun for son and hubby while they are home, either.

Anyone have any suggestions for me? We are going to the vet in a month or so for her yearly annual, and will discuss it then with the vet.

In the meantime, I am at a loss.

Poor Brandi.

Aw  she is beautiful.

Try the Thunder vests...they work for storm anxiety as well as separation anxiety.

Thanks, for the suggestion, 4 Donks. We tried the thunder vest, and it worked for a while. Now, it is ineffective.

I am so sorry to hear that Brandi is having separation anxiety. Poor girl. I wish I had some idea that would help but I was going to suggest the thunder vest like 4Donks did. Have you thought about recording your voice talking to her. And just playing on a loop so it just repeats over and over.  an angelic monkey
