Supper time. I love to go there right after work on Fridays, grab a sandwich at the store on my way outta town, and just read! But, I kept running the Kindle low on batteries. Then I would have to charge it in the car...but I got a small solar charger that I tested last night. It works good and it's fast. The rule used to be "when the Kindle is dead, it's time to go home." Well, the solar charger kinda changes that, heh heh heh!

Solar charger - I need to get one of those, it would be good for emergencies!

Teyve - very very nice!  I love the view and the cottage looks so cozy!  You have everything you need, love it!

P.S.  I hate shaving my legs.  Never could understand guys that shaved arms and legs, are they crazy!!!

Thanks, Klaas. There is lots of work to be done, but I find the less I think I need, the less work needs to be done. Yep, there will be a shower, so I will shave my legs, but it will be complicated. There's that whole "ya gots no well, lady!" thing to work around!

Hmmm...how to stay out of your quote box...my monkey skills are rusty! the cottage is about 20 miles from the house. It's about 3 miles less to drive to work, and one son, DIL and grandson live about 1/2 a country block away, thru the woods. It's got lots of flat places for gardens and an ice rink and some great sliding hills. The kids all love it, and are my "crew".

It works very well, I was quite surprised. It cost about $100.00, it's a Solio 2...and now I see it's on sale! harumph!

Sounds like so much fun and so relaxing just to sit and read.  Is phone reception good?

Love your Aladdin lamp. Had one exactly like yours, but we did not use green lamp oil. Just regular kerosene.

It's fun seeing your pics and listening to your dreams being fulfilled with the cabin.

LOL! No, you're not nosy. it's about 680 square feet, including the loft that covers half the main floor. I love the loft, it's big enough for at least 2 twin beds, has a door to a balcony porch (where I sat last nite to read). My boys installed a spiral staircase that I found on Craigslist, so I don't have to climb a 14' step ladder to go to bed. They also went and picked up the Vermont Castings woodstove I got really really cheap on craigslist...I'm a craigslist whore now!

I plan on putting an armoire in the loft to keep my clothes in. I will have to majory down-size in the clothing department. I'll just explain to my bosses that I have a two-week rotation....wish we had uniforms!

Oh, and I have to add 320 square feet to meeting the zoning requirement. So, we'll build a covered porch this fall, and enclose it next year. I am learing the hard lessons of building inspectors (they'll give me a pass on the existing bldg., but want to be involved in anything else. ) The good thing is that getting electricity to the house will cost me $105.00! All I have to pay for is the pole and that box thingy that hold all the magic electricity,

In another post (still got dishes to finish0 I'll explain more. suffice it to say, I will be re-learning how to mud drywall, make a woodstove wall and floor, run electric (that I already know how to do, just not where). I will also be furnishing the cottage with family heirlooms.

Phone reciption is great! I use my phone as a hotspot (caution: don't do this when your grandkids have an ipod and an affinity for youtube videos!) for the puter.

So, I have to get rid of my cat. She is not working out anymore - she has started peeing outside the box (expecially carpet!)  I took her to the vet and she is medically fine. But the problem is that now that she has started, there is no way to stop her in our house. I have tried everything. Anyone have any suggestions or want a beautiful black cat?

I know nothing about cats, except how to farm them out. But I am sorry you have to get rid of her. Hopefully, there's a farmer nearby who wouldn't mind another mouser.

TBM I am so sorry to hear about your cat.  Wish I had some ideas to help you. Is she just randomly potting all over or has she picked spots to potty?  I can tell you that if you have a stream cleaner to use vinegar & hydrogen peroxide and mix with water. My little machine I use I use 2 cups each of the vinegar & hydrogen peroxide  and 4 cups of water.  Went over the areas where mine had decided to use instead of the litter box.

The problem even after I would shampoo the the cats could still smell the urine odor and use the spot again. I have found that the vinegar kills the odor enzymes and peroxide cleans really well with out any soap residue.

When daughter was here and her dogs messed on the floor the cats started using the carpet instead of their litter box.  All the cats got put out side. After daughter moved out I shampooed with carpet cleaner.Thinking I had gotten rid of the problem. Then I rescued a kitty and she did okay, Then one of the semi house cats had a litter in the house. When they got old enough to come out of the bathroom and were using the litter box I let them roam the house. And then I was cleaning up messes again. That's when I started using the vinegar and peroxide it took a couple times but it seems to have worked.  I did the whole house to get rid of all the odors from when daughters dogs were here.

Sad to say when they start to mark areas  it's hard to stop them.  And all you can do is make them outside animals.

I'm no cat expert, but there is a guy on television (maybe animal planet).  Some folks had this same problem, but I can't remember how it was fixed, but it was.  If I'm remembering correctly, they got a new litter box and put it in a new location.  Wish I could remember all the particulars.  Maybe goggle it -- we can goggle just about everything else.

I totally forgot about that show.  Jackson Galaxy is his name and the show is called My Cat From Hell:

Nut, those are the questions My Mom asked, right before she told me she'd visit that place, but never stay too long. I think it's the lack of a real bathroom that's a hangup for her. No worries, however. I know when she sees the kitchen sink from her girlhood home installed in my home, and the desk that she taught me how to refinish when I was 11 and a few other family treasures...she'll like it.

And she's gonna love the RED tile I plan on using for the woodstove backwall and hearth.
