Had my monthly appointment in Birmingham at Kirklin Clinic for follow up and this time had some testing for swallowing problems. They gave me exercises to do to help alleviate the problem...YEAH ! Now my sister went with me and because we don't have a Target store around here wanted to stop in Trussville on the way home for some shopping. I was not looking forward to doing this at this time of year. Surprise..no crowds and lots of parking. Could not believe it. All in all not a bad day after all.

Have a new farrier coming on Thursday because the one I've been using for 7 years had rotator cuff surgery and won't be allowed to do farrier work for 6 months. The donks will have someone new to surprise and terrorize.  I hope he doesn't wear a baseball cap or have anything in his pockets.(cigarettes or chewing tobacco).

Hope everyone's Christmas shopping and decorating is complete and you're enjoying the season.

Hi you all!
Brandi...glad that Brandi is hanging  in there...those pill pockets are the best aren't they.

It is cold here and I hate it. If kids would move, hubs and I would move to warmer climate.

Hope all is good with everyone.

Hi Caddy!

Hi cookie! Good to see you post. Your posts are too far and few between!

Yes, pill pockets are great, but darn it, she has started spitting out the fragments of pills I put in them again! Now that she has to take 4 pills twice a day. (aspirin, proin, pepcidac and antibiotic each twice a day) I pick the fragments up off the floor and wrap them in another pill pocket each time. It's getting real expensive, those pill pockets aren't cheap. LOL

I know what you mean about the cold. I really, really love the spring and summer and early fall. Just love being in the sun, now that I am taking extra Vit. D and sitting out in the sun during those months for an hour or so for the Vit. D. Also makes me feel so much better then!

One nice snow a year, and I am done with cold months! Bring on the spring!

Hi Brandi!  Have you tried putting her pills in some soft bread with some peanut butter or cream cheese rolled in a ball? Smush it all together.

Works for my mutts when I have tablets.

Love- Cad

Yes, that's how we started out, with pills hidden in bread, hotdogs, cheese, then peanut butter. None worked with any frequency, she knew to look for pills and spit them out. Then I decided to make my own pill pockets ... peanut butter and whole wheat flour ... that worked pretty well. But it got to be such a pain making them. LOL (I think I'll try that tonight again.) Today, she was just not interested at.all in her pill pockets. Smelled them, walked away. Repeated that process. So I smushed them up into some Alpo Chop House filet mignon dog food that I had bought with a coupon the other day as a treat for her. She ate it all. Including the smushed up pill pockets.

Thanks for reminding me of the peanut butter pockets I used to make. I am going to go make some now.

It's such a challenge twice a day getting these into her!

Smart doggie. Does not like pills, and won't take them if she doesn't want to!

Thanks for the up date 4Donks. Continued prayers that you recovery keeps moving forward.  an angelic monkey  Sorry to hear your regular farrier got hurt. Hoping in one breathe the new farrier and donks got along.  But I was kind of hoping to hear they gave him a run for his money.

OK Green Eyes the donks didn't disappoint you.2 farriers came out and Hobbs stole the one's tin of snuff and baseball cap. Then proceded to try and lay down when they lifted his hoof off the ground......he was reallly really bad and proud of it. Otis danced all around and wouldn't let them put his halter on. I finally went in and put it on him. Monkey Devil! Cappy was an angel. an angelic monkey
Hope they will come back again...the one guy was laughing the other one not so much.

Hahaha!

Glad to hear business got taken care of, and that at least one guy enjoyed the donkey performance.

Also glad to see you are using "Otis the red-nosed Donkey" for your seasonal avatar!

I think Otis was just so excited about Christmas and Santa to behave for the farriers. He was just doing the Santa is coming dance!

GE .. did you ever get the two emails I sent you yesterday?

Hope everyone is staying warm and dry.

Went out to run some errands today (hubby has had to drive my SUV this week to work out of) so I had to take care of some things today. It is pouring COLD rain out there. 37º and COLD. Just drenching. Am in the process of drying and warming up ... may take a few hours. LOL Since I lost 75 lbs. in the past 15 months, I am always cold. Even when it is cold. heh
