Well, well.

Woke up to our first snowfall on the ground. Unexpected.

Had a little rain last night, apparently it turned to snow while I slept.

Very pretty.

Ordered new ram for my pc, after a bunch of testing and diagnosing the past couple of days, we have determined one of my memory sticks is faulty. Hope that is all it is. Been getting some nasty messages from windows when pc shuts down out of nowhere!

Fingers crossed that the new ram will solve this problem.

Still working on the house deal. It's grueling waiting.

Good to see you, Can. And all the posters here!

Bearly, where have you been?!?

Thanks for removing the poll, Klaas!

Good morning,

Just wanted to give you an update following Connie's appointment with the surgeon.

First, the funny part.  We were there so long the nursing home thought I had taken off with her!  Sent folks to find her and bring her back.  Too funny!  At least, I didn't have to call and get them to come and get her. lol  (thank goodness the nursing home cares!)

The cast she had on was a soft cast -- layers and layers and layers of soft fibers covered by an ace bandage.  She has incisions going up each side of her leg (from the ankle) about 5" each.  They removed the stitches (ouch!) and taped the incision sites, took an x-ray or two, and has now put her in a hard cast (she picked purple).  Not a walking cast, but a hard cast so the bones can start mending.  This will be on for 4 weeks, then another appointment, more x-rays, and if all goes well, a walking cast.  No bathes, etc., must keep it elevated much higher (her foot was still quite swollen).  All in all a good report.

I wanted to make sure Dr. Huber was on the same page about Connie being able to return home.  He is.  That might not happen right away, but that is the goal we are all working on.

In the meantime, I've got paperwork to do for her as Medicare will pay 100% for the first 20 days and then it drops to 80%.  The room she is in would be a little over $200 a day for the 20% (she is in a semi-private).  To go back into a ward (with 5 other people) would be about a $150 a day.  Lot of thinking, planning and praying needs to happen.

    Guess that's all for now.

I am so glad you found a doctor that is thinking the same way you are!  That will give so much hope and incentive to her.

Sister,

Sounds like very good news about Connie.

A walking cast! (So she can walk again.) Yay!

Goal for her to come home! Super Yay!

Financial stuff ... not a Yay for that. A pain in the butt for that.

But all in all, sounds real good, and as Green Eyes said, a great incentive for Connie to keep her thinking positively!

Good Morning Monkeys!

Sister, thank you for the update on Connie.  Glad her doctor is on the same page as the rest of the family and Connie can hold on to the hope she will return home in time.

Update on my brother.  He had one of the kidney tubes and bag removed.  They were unable to remove the bag for the right kidney, but have not ruled out possibility in the future.
Also the right lung tumour is growing slowly, and he can have the surgery when he is ready.  No urgency as it is slow growing.  Not bad for a guy that was told he had 2 - 4 months last July and was encouraged by fam. doctor and urologist to let nature takes it's course.  He went for the 5% chance at life and he conquered.  Hallelujah!

Yes, in about 4 weeks hopefully a walking cast.
Headed to the nursing home this morning -- looks like we might be getting some snow.
Blessings.

Yes indeed.

Snow on the way for us, too.

Calling for 8" tomorrow.

And cold temps to boot! Falling below freezing here tomorrow and not getting above freezing until Saturday!

That's one heck of a long time to be below freezing for us here in VA. Oh, and very windy too.

Stay safe and warm, everyone in the path of this one.

Green Eyes, you doing okay?

Seems it's been awhile since you last posted.

Snowing here and 20º right now, going down to 8º tonight. 7º on Wed and Thursday nights.

Way too cold for Virginia. LOL

They say it will get above freezing for a while on Saturday.

Brrrrrrrrr.

Thanks for asking Brandi I am fine just had a couple busy days. And for what ever reason I was logged out on SM. I was just to wiped out to do much of any thing.

Hope you are staying warm with this new cold front. We are suppose to drop down tomorrow night and stay that way for a couple days. To think this week end it was 70 and beautiful.  I took in 3 more cats to get them fixed. Hows the house project doing?

Good Morning Monkey friends. Hope all of you are staying warm. We are ready for the next polar vortex - pretty name for a wicked creature! It is only 9 below right now - supposed to be going even lower with winds. BBUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRR!  Can not wait for spring (well, I guess I do not have much choice but if I did . . .)

Prayers for everyone that needs them.
