Wish this cold weather would stop! I am over it!

Did u all watch the Super Bowl? Not very exciting.

Hi Cookie,     Hopefully the worst of all this cold weather is over for awhile for all you.

No didn't watch the game. Not much of sports fan here.  Am looking forward to the winter Olympics. But then I get ticked at the coverage every time.

I have a heat pump and with so many days under 32 degrees my power bill was $ 524.00 this past month. I have now started my heart back up and paid the bill. Can't imagine what the bills must be for you northern monkeys.

Our heat pump is cheaper than the propane we use for aux heat. But this months bill is going to SUCK!

Good morning my friends,
Just wanted you to know I have been going through a most difficult time.  It appears Connie will not be returning to her home.  I have had to force myself in looking at what is best for her and not what I think is best for her (if that makes any sense).  Her second post-surgery appointment is next week, but I can tell the swelling has not gone down (I see it in her toes) even though she has kept it elevated.
I have so much desired for her to live independently, but I honestly don't think that is realistic anymore.  In addition to the mobility issues, she has become a drug addict in order to just survive the constant pain she has each and every day.  Another thing I have had to come to grips with is the stroke affected her brain/mind as well as her body.  Her ability to reason has been significantly impaired.
It will take a miracle for her to recover.  I believe in miracles and I fervently pray for her every day.
Thank you all for your prayers and being so supportive.
Blessings.

Sister I'm so sorry to hear this latest news about Connie. There is an old adage: Plan for the worst and pray for the best. I will pray for the best and you continue planning for her future.  an angelic monkey

Sister I am so sorry to hear that. Prayers for you & Connie. It is so hard when it's our loved one having medical issues. Wanting things to happen one way and realizing that what we want to happen isn't going to happen.  Is heart breaking, and at times over whelming to realize. That everything we have been working towards isn't going to happen. I know you have worked and prayed  to keep Connie as independent as possible.  To watch and realize that our loved one isn't the same person they were before they became ill. It's had to look at it in terms of facts and realize the fact of the matter is they need more care and help than we can possible give them. Not trying to make light of it. But you can relax some what that she isn't going to hurt herself and have no one around to help her.

One of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make was to know when it was time to place my grandmother in a nursing home. I hated having to do it. Knowing she wouldn't like it. Believe me she didn't But after 6 years of caring for her 24/7  I couldn't do it any longer. That choice ate at me for many years with all the what ifs. Would I change  my choice today knowing what I now know. No I wouldn't because I had to do what was best for her.  You and Connie are in my thoughts and prayers.  an angelic monkey

Yikes 4Donks!!! We are having another cold front move in here in North Texas. Our high should be about 30 and lows in the teens. With lots of wind. They are calling for snow tomorrow. I will have my grandson for the next week. As his mom's going out of town. If it snows the trip to school should be interesting.

Prayers to all Monkeys in need.   an angelic monkey an angelic monkey

What a day.

Drove all the way from Irving to Fort Worth at 5:40 AM this morning for work. Drive took 1/2 hour.  Got up to the office building entrance, reach for wallet to get my swipe card t get in - no wallet.  Called up stairs to a colleague to let them know that I could't get in the building and that my computer access card was also in my wallet so I could not log in.  Told her I was driving back to Irving and would contact our boss that I would like to telework from home.

By this time, rush hour set in and it took 45 minutes to drive back home.  Boss approved my TW request.  Got home and changed back into jeans and logged in to work.  Told boss I showered and shaved for nothing.

Sister, I'm sorry that your wish for Connie to live independently is no longer an option.  It is a most painful recognition for you, I know.  Also for Connie, though I'm not sure if she is aware yet, or if she will be guided through that as time progresses.
I understand though that the number one priority is that she is safe and in care.

In time I expect you will be ready to sort out where she can stay and the proximity to family members to facilitate ease and frequency of visits for the long haul.

You mentioned earlier the high costs of Connie's present care.  Does this mean that once her immediate health issues are met, she will be moved to another long term care facility?

Hang in there sister, and continue your belief in miracles.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers.  xoxo

Morning Monkeys!

Drove in the worst snow storm yesterday that I've experienced in years.  Had an appointment or would never have ventured out.  Thank goodness for snow tires!

JSM - thinking of you.   an angelic monkey

Bearly - Hope you and Cub and family are o.k.

Babybear - good to hear that all is well in your world.

Morning Monkeys    Continued Prayers for all in need. an angelic monkey  Have youngest grandson for a week while daughter is out of town.    But have to have at school by 7:30, easier said than done.  Grandma is not a morning person. We got our first snow last night. We were hoping for more so school would be closed. Didn't happen but got a two hour delay. It's 14 out right now going up to 19. Hope everyone is staying safe and warm.

We hear that you've had a massive winter storm, and that you’re under a state of emergency, and people are in need of assistance.
Just give us 10 minutes to warm up the car. Help is on the way!
Sincerely, ~Michigan
