OK, here is a thought, perhaps the 2 brothers are talking now......They know Joran has a father in a high position, now one of these new suspects seems to have as well, perhaps they see that Joran and the SON of a "businessman" have a better chance of getting away with whatever, and will point all the fingers to them, so perhaps now they are "spilling the beans" per say.......(As it would only make sense Jorans father is after Jorans best interest and not theirs, same as with the son of the "businessman"

Yes, this is a possibility.  Maybe the brothers knew more and are telling what they know.  Or this could have come out of the search at Joran's.  I think this may point more toward the brothers' story being true that they dropped him off with Nat at the beach.  Like we talked about last night, it didn't seem as if Joran's friends and the brothers were all associated.  It didn't seem like they had been long-time friends and associated with all of the same people.  Maybe when Joran needed a ride or needed to do something with Natalee or whatever, this friend is the one he called.

Sorry if this is well-traveled ground, but I haven't been following as closely for the past couple days:

Does anyone else think that the quickening pace of the investigation means that the Arubans are letting the FBI work more directly or take more of an active role?

I know there have been people here who have said that the FBI was involved from day 1, but it seems like the direction and pace have changed quite a bit.

For myself, I'm quite sure that the FBI wouldn't interfere in a LE investigation in another country (or at least a friendly country) unless their help was specifically requested.

I fully agree, this faster pace is due to interrogations working whether thats due to the foreign interrogators brought in, or the FBI, or a combination.  It's apparent the family is more comfortable with the investigation.  I personally believe the helicopter flights, search of Joran's home and the new arrest today are all a sign good stuff is happening with the interviews with the suspects.

This new arrest might only be a witness or someone who was told something OR he could be a major player...we really don't know.

I am wondering if Natalie was taken to some kind of a party in someone's house afterwards. I am praying she is still alive and just being held somewhere.

ORANJESTAD, Aruba -- A fourth person has been detained in the case of a missing Alabama student, authorities announced today.

The person "is suspected of being involved in the disappearance of the tourist," 18-year-old Natalee Holloway, said a statement from the Aruban attorney general's office.

The newest detainee was born on July 21, 1978, and has the initials S.G.C., the statement said, adding, "As a result of the ongoing investigation, this is all the information that can be given at this time."

Also today, prosecutors filed a motion asking a judge to rule there is sufficient cause to continue holding 17-year-old Joran van der Sloot, the son of a justice official on Aruba, and his two friends, Surinamese brothers Deepak Kalpoe, 21, and Satish Kalpoe, 18. The three were detained on Thursday. Under the law, a judge must review their case after 10 days and decide their status.

The announcement of the arrest today came nearly three weeks after Holloway's disappearance in the early morning hours of May 30, the same day she was to return from a five-day trip with 124 other students celebrating their high school graduation in Mountain Brook, Ala.

AND TO THINK HOW DISCOURAGED I WAS THIS AM Watching the NY channels - nobody said anything about Natalee and I remembered thinking 'oh what it's pushing 3 weeks now so it is getting old?'  It made me angry.

Earlier today, I was praying intently for Natalee to come home today.

I know that thousands of people would be so grateful.  That word dosn't begin to cover how her friends and family would feel.

In Aruba, is a "forced arrest" more like (they have evidence that the person was involved) ?  I know your laws are different over there.  I am thinking (that can be dangerous sometimes) that if they didn't have some sort of evidence, then perhaps they would have just went to the home and questioned the 26 year old?

I'm almost certain that I read on this board yesterday (afternoon/early evening??) that the FBI was indeed taking an active role in this case from that point on.
