Nestle USA recalled four styles of pizzas made under the DiGiorno and California Pizza Kitchen brands after tracing plastic parts to spinach.May 3, 2013
Pieces of clear plastic found in some frozen pizzas has prompted Nestle USA to issue voluntary recalls on four styles of pizza sold under the DiGiorno and California Pizza Kitchen brands.
Nestle USA, which operates water bottling plants in the Lehigh Valley, manufactured the pizzas at its Wisconsin facility and distributed the pizzas nationwide.
The company in a news release said a small number of consumers found bits of clear plastic in a California Pizza Kitchen crispy thin crust white pizza. No other complaints have been received, but Nestle said it traced the contaminant to packaged spinach it purchased from one its suppliers.

Consumers with the recalled products will have to check production codes on the box to determine if they may have a potentially contaminated pizza. Production codes are located in either a blue or pink rectangle on the box and are the first 10 digits on the second line of print.
The recall is limited to the following frozen pizzas with specific product codes:
•California Pizza Kitchen Crispy Thin Crust White: 3062525951, 3062525952 and 3063525951.
•California Pizza Kitchen Limited Edition Grilled Chicken with Cabernet Sauce: 3059525952.
•DiGiorno Crispy Flatbread Pizza Tuscan Style Chicken: 3057525922 and 3058525921.
•DiGiorno pizzeria! Bianca/White Pizza: production code is 3068525951.
Consumers with the identified production codes should contact Nestlé USA Consumer Services at 800-456-4394 or
nestlepizza@casupport.com for further instructions. Nestle will provide replacement coupons to reporting consumers and also may make arrangements to retrieve the pizza.
