Scorsese, De Niro Honor Mel Brooks at AFI Tribute
By SANDY COHEN AP Entertainment Writer
LOS ANGELES June 7, 2013 (AP)

Brooks received the American Film Institute's 41st Life Achievement Award Thursday, and Freeman and De Niro were among a galaxy of stars who paid tribute to the man behind "Blazing Saddles," ''Young Frankenstein" and "The Producers."

"Movies saved my life," he said. "They rescued my soul. No matter what was bad or wrong, it could be wiped out on Saturday morning."

TNT will broadcast highlights from the ceremony as a TV special on June 15.

I liked Mel Brooks "High Anxiety", although it doesn't appear as well known or popular as some of his other works. JMHO  It was his first film as a producer.

Muffy,

I got it, I got it, I got it Smile

That was my favorite line, in the movie, when picking up the trunk.
Thank-you for bringing back a fun memory.

Muffy

Thank-you for the link to Mel's song. His song inspires me to want to dance, to the mailbox.

I live for silliness.

Some of my favorite lines in "High Anxiety":

Nurse Diesel: Those who are tardy do not get fruit cup.

Nurse Diesel: Perhaps I've been a bit too haaaarsh...

And of course there's:

Nurse Diesel: Come to my room right after dinner.
Dr. Charles Montague: No, not tonight. I'm too tired. I think I'll turn in early.
Nurse Diesel: I'll let you wear my underwear.
Dr. Charles Montague: I'll be there.

I just love Madeline Kahn.

Madeline Kahn talks about her first audition.mp4

Uploaded on Aug 14, 2011

Taped in 1989 for American Theatre Wing's CUNY TV. She was working on "Born Yesterday" at the time, which explains the hair (and the nails?). Posting here so more people can see, but the episode in its entirety can be downloaded here: http://americantheatrewing.org/wit/de...

  I wuv her, too.

Muffy, High Anxiety, was my favorite Mel Brook's movie.  I could watch Mel's movie's, over and over, I never get tired of them, and the lines just are funny or not funnier when rewatched.

Do you remember Madeline's, line, in Frankestein, (at the end) ha ha?  She was getting ready to cadoodle with Frankestein.  It is her voice, I think, that makes her so hilarous.

I am thankful for those people, who saw the potential brillance in ordinary people and gave them a chance to shine.

I agree seahorse.  It's the way Madeline delivers her lines.  That voice!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072431/trivia?tab=qt&ref_=tt_trv_qu

[Frankenstein, Igor and Inga in front of HUGE castle doors]
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: What knockers.
Inga: Oh, thank you doctor.

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: [to Igor] Now that brain that you gave me. Was it Hans Delbruck's?
Igor: [pause, then] No.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Ah! Very good. Would you mind telling me whose brain I DID put in?
Igor: Then you won't be angry?
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: I will NOT be angry.
Igor: Abby someone.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: [pause, then] Abby someone. Abby who?
Igor: Abby... Normal.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: [pause, then] Abby Normal?
Igor: I'm almost sure that was the name.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: [chuckles, then] Are you saying that I put an abnormal brain into a seven and a half foot long, fifty-four inch wide GORILLA?
[grabs Igor and starts throttling him]
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: Is that what you're telling me?

[last lines]
Inga: You know, there's something I've been meaning to ask you. In the transference, the monster got part of your wonderful brain. But what did you ever get from him?
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: [growls suggestively]
Inga: [gasping] Oh my goodness, I don't believe...
[emits several somewhat painful-sounding moans and grunts]
Inga: [singing] Oh, sweet mystery of life, at last I've found you! At last, I know the secret of it all!

Abby Normal, brings a smile, a tear, to me, and it makes my day a llittle better, but, why?  Why is it so amusing? Luv it.

I think it is the innocence of the humor.

Your family sounds as great as you, Muffy

Thank-you for taking the time to bringing back the true fun, of the innocent days.

Muffy - I loved, Whos brain was it?  TY. Why does this just keep getting better and better?
I have tears in my eyes.  Mel Brooks, is the only one who can get me to laugh and cry.

Igor's his eyes, are like eggs, Madeline, turns to him and she want to laugh, (you can see it)
but she is so disciplined. When Mel cracks the whip when singing, Madeline is so funny with her unspoken delivery, just her emotions.

Sometimes, The Big Bang Theory, and The Middle, come close to intelligent silliness,IMO.

Young Frankenstein From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The film is an affectionate parody of the classical horror film genre, in particular the various film adaptations of Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein produced by Universal in the 1930s.

Most of the lab equipment used as props were created by Kenneth Strickfaden for the 1931 film Frankenstein. To further reflect the atmosphere of the earlier films, Brooks shot the picture entirely in black-and-white, a rarity in the 1970s, and employed 1930s-style opening credits and scene transitions such as iris outs, wipes, and fades to black. The film also features a notable period score by Brooks' longtime composer John Morris.

Marty Feldman From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marty Feldman

Born Martin Alan Feldman
(1934-07-08)8 July 1934
London, England, U.K.
Died 2 December 1982(1982-12-02) (aged 48)
Mexico City, Mexico
Cause of death Heart attack
Spouse(s) Lauretta Sullivan
(m. 1959-82, his death)

Martin Alan "Marty" Feldman (8 July 1934 – 2 December 1982) was an English comedy writer, comedian and actor, easily identified by his bulbous and crooked eyes. He starred in several British television comedy series, including At Last the 1948 Show and Marty, the latter of which won two BAFTA awards. He was the first Saturn Award winner for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Young Frankenstein.

Early life Feldman was born in the East End of London, the son of Jewish immigrants from Kiev. He recalled his childhood as "solitary".

A BBC documentary explained that an operation due to his Graves' disease resulted in his eyes being more protruded and misaligned (strabismus). Leaving school at 15, he worked at the Dreamland funfair in Margate. By the age of 20 he had decided to pursue a career as a comedian.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marty_Feldman

(ME)
I assumed (wrongly) that Marty's or "Egg-Gore's", eyes, where enhanced by a make-up technique, to my surprise, his eyes were protruded, due to an operation.

Mel Brooks found a wonderful way to use the actors and actresses, talents and assets. Smile

Madeline Kahn, Comedian Of Film Fame, Dies at 57
By WILLIAM H. HONAN
Published: December 04, 1999

My Opinion:

A pleasant and amusing Obituary.  I think that was the intention of writer, was to leave a smile on your face, in a very respectful manner.  The very last line of this long Obit, made me smile.
