Apparently the ruling on David Bodney's motion concerning the media blackout was not made today, although I believe it was expected this week.

Interesting that it is taking this long.

Ruling is in: Judge denies media's request to air daily portions of Jodi Arias sentencing trial
September 22, 2014

"The Court is mindful of its obligation to allow public and media access to the trial," Stephens wrote. "That access should not include live broadcast of the trial prior to a verdict for the reasons addressed in previous sealed proceedings. The public and media may attend the penalty phase trial each day."
<snipped>

Brandi,
Have you heard if there will be journalists allowed in court or those women of Dr. Drews to report on the daily testimony?

Oh yeah, I remember those gals. Yes, I am sure journalists will be allowed in the court and some of the public will be allowed in. I have no idea how they will decide how many of each are allowed in each day though.

Thank you Brandi. I sure hope we have someone that can report to us, who are left out of the courtroom, what is going on. There should be a law against this in my opinion.

This is what prompted the new motions by KN

http://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/op-ed/steve-benson/2014/09/23/jodi-arias-media-manipulation/16133057/

And....FYI
UPDATES FROM TODAY'S HEARING:

:: Nurmi hits judge with two motions: change of venue & sequestering jury over cartoon in paper

:: Martinez agrees cartoon was "offensive" but argues against change of venue & sequestering jurors

:: Judge Stephens denies motions to reconsider change of venue & sequestering jury. Co. hasn't sequestered jurors in 80+yrs

:: Motion to preclude witnesses will be heard Oct 14

:: Nurmi files motion to dismiss death penalty. Arguments to be heard Oct 14 & 15

:: Nurmi asks judge to clarify media access and argues to remove media from jury selection altogether, arguing media was not "diligent" during trial

:: Nurmi requests judge to force public & media to turn off cell phones in overflow room. Obviously this would prevent tweeting

:: Recent SC ruling prevents judge from forcing media/public to turn off phones in court

:: Judge says there will be security to prevent recordings of procedures with cell phones

:: hearing ends

Further:

:: Overflow rm seats 49 - no guaranteed seats for media - will either work on first come/first served or lottery depending on crowd

:: court overflow room opens when actual penalty retrial begins with opening arguments. NOT OPEN during jury selection

:: Media will have one designated/guaranteed seat in courtroom 4, 24 total when opening arguments begin

Tough road lies ahead in jury selection for Jodi Arias sentencing
POSTED 10:14 AM, SEPTEMBER 27, 2014, BY Q13 FOX NEWS STAFF, UPDATED AT 02:24PM, SEPTEMBER 27, 2014

“She’s very scared,” said Donavan Bering, a friend of Arias. “Things changed for her. She came to the realization that she didn’t want the death penalty. She wants to be able to see her mom and her family.”  <I'll bet Travis would love to be able to see his family>

After efforts to settle the case went nowhere and legal motions to drop the death penalty were denied, Arias will resume the fight for her life with the help of a lead attorney, Kirk Nurmi, that she neither wants or trusts.

“I do not trust his advice and especially do not trust how he might conduct himself towards me because I know from personal experience that he is curt, rude and condescending,” she wrote in a 12-page, single-spaced handwritten letter to the judge in October of 2013.

While Arias has the same defense team, trial strategy could be a lot different if Nurmi follows the advice of jury foreman William Zervakos, who shared his thoughts with the defense team when they met with him to discuss the case.

“Jodi Arias is her own worst enemy. She’s a terrible defendant,” said Zervakos, one of the four jurors who voted to spare her life. “I was candid with them. I told them it was best if she were not on the stand.”

Jodi Arias trial, 48 lies in '48 Hrs', former juror reveals the truth about bias

Arias has been in contact with the foreman of her jury from 2013, William Zervakos. Some interesting information has come to light in that regard.

Jodi Arias appears on 48 Hrs. with her ninja story.

The jury foreman from last year's Jodi Arias trial has been known to create a significant controversy with the public. Many supporters of Travis Alexander believe that Jodi Arias would already be on Death Row if it were not for him. That information has come to light that he is now helping the defense one year later, does not do much to sway the public opinion of William Zervakos. Interestingly enough, the Toronto Relationships Examiner has received word that another juror that sat with William Zervakos in May 2013 has revealed some interesting information. This information corroborates the public opinion of what happened with the May 2013 verdict.

It all goes back to those media interviews that she needed so badly. They could be the very things that send her to Death Row. Not because the facts have changed in the evidence since then and now, but because the only thing that has changed in the period between then and now is her story.

Now it's abuse. Had she not told those 48 lies in 48 Hrs while she media shopped her cover up game, she might not be in the position she is today. Even Detective Flores said he would be able to help her, if she just told the truth. And because she didn't, it hasn't stopped messing her over. Will this time be any different?

She has to overcome some pretty big whoppers in order to do so, especially if the rumor mill is right that abuse allegations are going to take center stage. She has been preparing rather vigorously to drag Travis Alexander's name through the mud, after telling the entire world over, and over, and over again just what ann amazing man he was.

Those words came right out of her mouth. All of the Bishops and the brothers and the sisters and the room mates and life long friends in the world can and will say how amazing he was. And so did the killer. And if there isn't anything that adds strength to the testimony of the greatness of a man, than when his own killer gives him glowing reviews, then what is? But she did. And now she wants to change that story too. How is she going to escape the death penalty with a defense of abuse? She needs to overcome some whoppers.

Jury selection begins tomorrow, and it is arguably the most important part of this trial. These 12 humans will determine the fate of another human being, whether that person lives or dies. It is an incredible responsibility. The State, the defense team including mitigation specialist Maria de la Rosa, will all be there to panel the potential jurors.

When word was broken yesterday that the jury foreman William Zervakos that was on the panel of 12 that convicted Jodi Arias was helping the defense, many supporters of Travis Alexander were very upset. To many, this looks like a bias.

We have received word from an individual close to another of the jurors that deliberated on the May 2013 verdict in the Jodi Arias trial. That juror has confirmed that the public is correct. It does not just "look" like a bias, this jury foreman had an actual bias. The juror used words like "agenda", and noted this was evident from the very first day of jury selection, that the bias was obvious.

This juror also believes that the jury foreman William Zervakos bias would assist in leading to a deadlock when it came to sentencing. Was that juror right? Well, that is what ended up happening, isn't it.

If the new jury fails to reach a unanimous decision, the death penalty will be removed as an option and the judge will sentence Arias to spend her life behind bars or to be eligible for release after 25 years.

Dozens Of Possible Jurors Rejected In Jodi Arias Case
Posted:  09/30/2014 7:29 am EDT    Updated:  09/30/2014 7:59 am EDT

PHOENIX (AP) — Roughly a third of 300 potential jurors were dismissed Monday in the penalty retrial of convicted murderer Jodi Arias after telling a judge they had seen too much media coverage of her first trial to be impartial or had already made up their minds about her punishment.

Other jurors were let go due to work conflicts or language barriers, among other reasons, as jury selection began in the second attempt by prosecutors to secure a death sentence in the Arizona case that became a tabloid TV sensation.

Another 100 prospective jurors were set to be brought in Wednesday. No proceeding were set Tuesday in the case.

Arias glanced back at the media at one point on Monday and smiled just before jurors started arriving. The victim's sister and her husband also sat in the courtroom watching the proceedings.

Some of the prospective jurors who were dismissed said they had already seen so much media coverage of the first trial that they couldn't put it out of their minds and would not be able to make a decision based only on information presented at the penalty retrial.

The upcoming proceedings will not be televised live after the judge ruled that no video footage can be broadcast until after the verdict.

If the new jury fails to reach a unanimous decision, the death penalty will be removed as an option and the judge will sentence Arias to spend her life behind bars or to be eligible for release after 25 years.

"It wasn't really until Jodi took the stand last time that it turned into a circus and built into a frenzy," said Phoenix criminal defense lawyer Dwane Cates.

Cates said the biggest problem prosecutors now face will be weeding out prospective jurors with an agenda, those "who want their 15 minutes of fame" and could potentially cause another mistrial.

Hi Kermit, if any bias is reported by another juror  I was told 'investigated' by the court and dealt with accordingly. Had the jurors in the first
jury reported the foreman, I have no doubt he would have been removed. The female juror that was removed from the first jury made an innocent statement...this is not a quote...but she said something like they could at least give us comfortable chairs.

Jodi Arias sentencing re-trial: Former juror discusses anxiety ahead of sentencing phase re-trial

“I think about it every day and probably will think about it for the rest of my life,” said Kelley.

For six months Kelley listened to countless interviews and studied gruesome evidence that ultimately led to Arias' conviction of killing her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander.

“Those are just images that you can’t erase,” said Kelley.

The hardest part about being a juror during the Arias trial, Kelley said, was keeping quiet. Per a court order, jurors were admonished from discussing the case with anyone; she couldn't even tell her husband about the things she'd seen during trial. At least, not until the trial was over and the verdict released.

Attorneys for Jodi Arias filed a motion to dismiss the death penalty Wednesday morning, citing what they claim is a long litany of misconduct by the prosecutor and law enforcement.

The misconduct, they say, denies Arias the possibility of a fair trial.

Attorneys Work to Pick Jury in Jodi Arias Retrial
PHOENIX — Oct 1, 2014, 9:06 PM ET

Attorneys working to pick a jury for the penalty retrial of convicted murderer Jodi Arias have cut more than 50 percent of 400 potential panelists called in this week, many who said they knew too much about the case to be impartial or had already made up their minds about her punishment.

About 100 prospective jurors were brought in Wednesday after 300 were queried on Monday, leaving roughly 175 people as attorneys begin the process of whittling down the group further using questionnaires each person was asked to complete.

Meanwhile, defense attorneys on Wednesday filed a motion seeking to dismiss the death penalty as an option, citing prosecutorial misconduct, among other things.

The filing reiterates previous allegations that prosecutors have withheld evidence in the case and have failed to disclose witnesses in a timely manner. The motion was first reported by The Arizona Republic before being made public later in the day.

Prosecutors declined to comment on Wednesday.

The judge has previously denied numerous motions by the defense to dismiss the death penalty as an option. A hearing is set for mid-October for arguments over yet another similar motion.

The judge also has repeatedly denied defense motions to move the trial out of Phoenix and to sequester the jury.

Such a flurry of motions by defense attorneys in the days leading up to a trial is common, particularly in death penalty cases, as lawyers work to build grounds for appeal.

Reality sets in as Jodi sits there looking at the people who will make the decision of life or death. And it appears there is a lot of angry people against her.

"I already think she deserves the death penalty," said Whitney McGinn.

It was a prevailing sentiment.

A woman who identified herself as Barb Patterson said, "I watched every second of the trial online, and she's guilty as sin. They're wasting our taxpayer dollars, and she needs to get to prison ... death row!"http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/10/02/jodi-arias-sentencing-retrial-jurors-vent/16582949/
